* Hermes Villa *
My chaffeur, Mr. Ray came home alone. I wanted to be free to clear my head. What was the next step?
"Where is Amiyah?" Aunt Chloe inquired. She saw me going out all dressed up some hours ago.
"She didn't come back with me" he simply, replied.
"Where did she go? Who was she with?" She wanted to know my every movement. She told him to watch me. What I do. Who I meet. And what I said. But my chaffeur was loyal. He doesn't talk too much. He kept to himself often and he finds the things she said hard to do. I overheard Aunt Chloe talking to him the other day, that's how I found out.
"She went shopping alone" he showed her the shopping bags. He knew I was with someone and I didn't tell him to tell a lie. He was just like that. Not curious, not inquisitive he was just there. Personally, I think he respects people's privacy. He's loyal and he won't reveal my true activities.
"That's weird. Why didn't she come back?"
"She asked me to leave that she wants to take the bus so I left" he simply said the truth.
"Drop the shopping bags in her room" she dismissed him.
* Amazing Cafe *
I sat gracefully picked up the glass of caramel macchiato on the table and took a sip. I wanted something sweet and also waking myself up.
Ding! Ding!! Ding!!!
My phone rang. It was Investigator Deb. I hired her some days ago. I heard she was very competent so we chatted and I told her about my parents' accident which she had to dig up evidence to prove in that it was not an hit-and-run but a murder case. I didn't tell her I know the perpetrators though. I wanted to see how competent she is.
"Hi," I spoke, quietly. Who knows if someone is watching?
The walls have ears, they say. I don't feel so safe anymore.
"Miss Hermes, I must say this investigation is not going well. The accident happened thirteen years ago so I'm finding it really hard"
"Are you quitting?" I asked, nervously.
"Of course not. I'm not the type that run away when encountering problems. I overcome them. I called to warn you to be careful. Someone took all the security camera footage recorded near the accident scene. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find any of the footage. It's like someone did it on purpose. It's suspicious"
"Oh... The criminal wanted to protect himself that's why he did that"
"Also, there wasn't a footage of Mr. Jade was the one that caused the accident as he claims"
"Then why was he arrested for it and why was he imprisoned?"
"He confessed. He confessed to his crimes himself"
"Is he out of jail?"
"Yes. I looked into it. Mr. Jade is from a middle class background but he was picked up by a McLaren car when he was released. It's suspicious"
"Anyways, this Mr. Jade can lead us to the criminal, right?"
"I wish so. We'll tail him for a while. I believe all the footages will be with the criminal. It may even be distroyed by now" I wanted enough evidence to indict them red-handed, if not Uncle Ben will use GM group legal team to escape punishment. That won't do me good, would it?
"Hmmm" I sighed, exhaustingly.
"Don't worry too much. The real criminal will be caught soon. Stay safe" she said.
"Be discreet as possible" I told her and hung up.
I realized that Uncle Ben and Aunt Chloe would stop at nothing to cover their tracks. I called Barrister Dawn to have a one on one conversation with her but she was out of country. She will call to meet up as soon as she arrives.
If the bad guys weren't bad enough, I'd be hesitant in taking revenge. But they won't give up and continue to be persistently bad. So I have no choice.
This is the story of my unforgiveable revenge.
As I was sipping my caramel macchiato and looking at the beautiful sky through the glass windows some ladies came in.
"Let's sit here" they sat down together. They were about four. Yes, they were four.
Wait, I know this faces. This is Nancy, Zoe, Terri and Sonia from middle school. Ahh, this crazy gossips.
They didn't see me though they sat at my front. I was glad. This girls has all the news of the city in their palms.
"Gossip again" I muttered as I slurped my coffee.
"What will you like to order?" The waitress asked, politely.
"We'll have have iced americano and double shot expresso" Nancy replied.
"Did you hear what happened?" Sonia started it. The gossip.
"What happened?" Terri asked, dramatically curious.
"Royal Group siblings had a fight in the Accurate style boutique" Zoe updated them on the latest news, almost loudly.
Another girl walked in, it was that girl bossing Liam sister around.
"Ohh...we are here" Zoe called out for Bev. She went to them and sat down. She was so angry that she sat down aggressively.
"Bev, are you okay?" Zoe asked furious Bev.
"How can I be?! I was insulted by that Liam! He thinks he can talk disrespectfully just because he's hot?"
"I must say he's hot" Sonia smiled, dreamily.
"I agree" Terri nodded.
"Hundred percent" Nancy nodded too. You know the expression they make when they say "Oh, it's manageable" that was the expression on Terri's face.
"But... I can't accept Veronica Amiyah her brother is hot, can I? She is very slow and annoying. She doesn't even know how to do anything. She thinks she's still a princess"
"I heard Royal Group chairman had Liam and Veronica when he had an affair during his first marriage" Sonia told them.
"I heard that too" Terri added.
"It must be true. Their family is such a mess!" Zoe said.
"So what will you do, Bev. Will you let her into your family?" Nancy asked.
"Of course not. I will use her for a while and dump her. Even if my mom is looking forward to the wedding I don't want it to happen. Or should I keep her and make her kiss my feet" Bev smiled, mischievously.
"You should do that, hahaha" Sonia and others laughed.
"Marrying their mum later doesn't make it right. They are still illegitimate children!" Zoe said and they all agreed.
"Hahaha, that's true" Terri laughed, annoyingly.
I couldn't resist joining their table and confronting them about their malicious gossip.
"Hi guys" I greeted and joined their table with my drink.
"Oh, it's Amiyah. How do you do, princess" They call me princess because they heard my dad call me that when he drops me off at school.
"You didn't ask before you joined us, that's rude" Bev blurted.
"Oh my, Sorry" I said sarcastically and shifted my drink to the edge of the table on her end.
"It's no problem" My coffee spilled on her clothes. Nice!
"Shit!!" She glared, angrily.
"Oh my Goodness, Sorry" I laughed, sarcastically.
"Wipe of your cloth with this" Zoe gave her handkerchief from her bag.
"What's your deal?" There was an amount of silence while they waited for my response. The conversation turned heated.
"I should be the one asking that. What's your deal, guys? You...your family's business hasn't been doing well, shouldn't you be working on that instead of gossiping" I said to Nancy.
"Also, you. Everyone knows you got married to your husband because of money. A contract marriage where there is no love. You guys just pretend in parties. It's obvious. Don't you have something better to do, like making your husband heart beat for you?" I looked pointedly at Sonia.
"You... you are just an influencer with few likes does that make you the owner of the sky?!" I faced Terri.
They all kept gasping.
"And what about you?" I turned to Zoe.
"Your mother is the second wife. Shouldn't you get on my goodside to challenge the first wife's kids?! You guys this is not the time to be cosmetic or plastic, floating through life as if you're in a dream but a time to be delibrate, authentic and realistic with your choices" I lectured them.
"You this b*tch!" Zoe and Sonia were losing their mind.
Gosh, I didn't know much about this Bev so I couldn't get back at her for what she said but.... I personally think spilling coffee all over her dress was more than enough.
"You're offended, aren't you? Then don't talk about others. Everyone has a side of them they desperately want to hide. Don't let us dig it up. It's not cool. Spreading rumours like this is violence that can hurt them beyond repair" I said and wanted to leave.
"Ahhh, I just wanted to tell you that you messed with the wrong person. Don't ever talk about Liam or his family in that way again. Unless, you want me coming for you with my claws" I warned them.
I started hearing some 'hmms' and 'ahhs' but it didn't matter.
That was cool. I had no regrets as I walked out gracefully.
"She must be crazy!" I heard them say. Yes, I'm crazy when you come for my people, you come for me. I can't sit back and can't hold back either.
Veronica overheard everything that transpired. She came in before me crying in a cafe when she saw Bev she used a book to cover her face. She was very ashamed of her family's scandal.
"Who..is..that...woman?" She said between her tears as she watched me leave.
* Hermes Villa *
Upon returning to Hermes Villa, I encountered Rose, who was getting a manicure for a blind date with Liam.
"Hey, where have you been?" She asked like she was obligated to know about my movement.
"I went shopping"
"Okay"
"Rose, I hope someday we'll sit down together and laugh with each other about those days" I was lying I don't like her anymore. I can't like her after everything she has done.
"What?"
"We were close to each other. We normally lay all our troubles to rest and do everything together" I recalled the past. We were pretty close when I was welcomed into the family.
"Amiyah, don't be mistaken. You've lost your memories so I'll save you from the trouble. Pretending is not my thing. Our family is not that happy family you see once you come to spend holidays. That was fake. This is the real us. I don't care about you.
You know this is what a real family looks like. Not those soap opera you see on TV but people who use one another the get to their own dreams, putting pressure on one another and inconveniencing one another that's what a family is. I don't see you and you don't see me. Just saying so you'll cut down your expectations"
For once in a lifetime, pity swelled up in my heart for you. She doesn't know what a family is. Rose has never felt the warmth of a family else she wouldn't see family as something trivial. A family care for one another. Protect one another and rely on one another.
When did everything start to go wrong?
"Okay" was all I said.
"You know why I'm doing manicure?" She asked me fully knowing I didn't know her reason behind that.
"Why?" I wasn't curious at all.
"Because I'm going on a blind date. I think I'll get engaged before you. My blind date is a really nice catch" she boasted.
"Really? That's great. I'm happy for you" I pretended to be happy for her, but inside, I was seething.
"You won't ask who it is? It maybe someone you know. Why don't you take a guess" she chuckled, derisively. This girl is getting on my nerves.
Wait, hope this is not heading to where I think. It can't be.
"Who is it?" I turned to face her.
"It's Liam, the father of my child that you killed. The blind date is in four days. I'll make sure I look my best until them"
"Really? Okay. Good luck" I nodded trying to surpress a smile. I knew this would happen but I didn't know it would happen so fast.
"Really? Okay? Good luck?" I chuckled, smugly. She was astonished. I could hear her as I walked up the stairs. What does she think I'd do? Pull her hair and have the girls' fight thing. She must still think we are still kids. So immature.
* My room *
I fell flat on the bed. Actually, the news froze me solid. I'm sure Liam still loves me, anytime he looks at me it looks like his affection is dripping. Or am I overthinking?
I decided to take matters into my own hands and attend the blind date instead, to protect Liam from Rose's schemes. She is a bad child from very bad parent so to pay Liam back for helping me to the hospital, standing up for me in school and dropping me off at home after my accident, I'll do this for him. I'll go on the blind date instead.
Will that be wrong? I thought.
Wrong how? I countered my own thoughts viciously.
