While Chrissy and Zach arrived at the grandparents' house and had a little lunch, I checked my parasite eggs. I crawled on the surface of Chrissy's brain while she was talking. She felt a sudden headache, holding her hand on her forehead. Everyone worried about her, but she stayed in the chair and waited. The larvae grew quickly. They moved around inside the membrane. I saw them take the last sip of cerebrospinal fluid.
I crawled up to the frontal cortex where many eggs were stationed. I checked the eggs for hours until I arrived at an egg where the larva hatched from the shell. It crawled out all the way to me. I took a closer look at it. It looked similar to me, except that I couldn't see any eyes on it. I then wondered if it could understand me.
"Yes, I can," I heard him say in my head. I almost freaked out because he could read my mind. I quickly calmed down when I asked him who he was.
"I don't have a name," he replied.
When I asked him what he could do, he said anything I could do. I wanted to see his skills as he drilled his little tongue into Chrissy's brain.
"Holy shit," I thought at first, before telling him to take his tongue out of Chrissy's brain.
"You don't need to be afraid," he replied as he explained to me that I could take control of a body through him. I had to focus and promptly felt him and the rest of the larvae around me. I focused on the larva drilling into Chrissy's brain and suddenly I could feel her body. Nevertheless, I was able to take over a second body through the parasite. It was a new feature that I couldn't pass up. Without hesitation, I let the parasite, which I had christened One, go towards my nose because I wanted it to take possession of someone. As soon as I gave him the order, he set off. It should take him up to half an hour to get there. Until then, I let myself relax like Chrissy on the way home.
One crawled along the path. Without hesitation, he jumped into the nose-to-brain axis and was surprised by strong air currents. He clung to the nose wall after several attempts, and from then on he made his way towards the exit. Although he couldn't see, he could feel where something might be due to the external vibrations on his skin. He also had me to confide in. A colony means taking care of each other and surviving. He scratched too hard at the wall of his nose just before it exited. Chrissy, who in the meantime was drinking a glass of wine with her husband, scratched her nose.
"A little more and she sneezes me out," One said to me.
I took over Chrissy's body mid-conversation without changing any facial expression or hinting at anything.
"Did you hear that? " I said to Zach. He was a little drunk. Especially on his third glass. He also remained silent for a few seconds.
"No, I didn't hear anything," I said, before getting up and going to the kids' rooms. I ran up the stairs, checking Chrissy's body as if it were mine. I opened the door to the children's room and saw the children on their phones.
"How are the kids?" I asked the children, who wanted a little privacy. At the same time, I asked One if he could reach another body by sneezing. But that was impossible for him because he was too far away from the children. I sat down on the next bed over, where Anna stretched out. She made room for me so that I could sit down.
"What are you doing?" I approached Anna in amazement.
Anna was surprised that I was interested in her privacy. She then showed me Snapchat and all the things you can do there. After all, Chrissy still belonged to the old generation without fast internet. I was interested and praised how interesting it was. One found a moment when Anna looked at me and scratched Chrissy's nose. I sneezed without putting my hand in front of it. I saw the little larva under Anna's nose.
"Mom, put your hand in front of your nose when you sneeze," she wanted to remove One from her skin as I played at removing the parasite, though I quickly shoved it up her nose.
"It's fine now," I told her and apologized right after, before kissing her on the head and saying goodbye to the kids.
