It's dancing time I guess

The ascension of the sky lanterns was the most emotional part of the meeting of the clans.

It was at times like these that people would reflect on how much the war had actually taken from them. Although things at the border were rather calm at the moment, who knew when things would escalate again?

That was why the clans had to remain strong at all times, they had to be always ready for a clash with the phantoms.

Sometime later, the somber atmosphere was replaced with a rather joyful one as the instrumentalists began to play a different tune following the direction of the coordinator.

Luck once again found himself nodding to the beat of the music.

From the man who conducted the instrumentalists to those playing the instruments themselves, they were all perfect!

He closed his eyes and slowly began to sway to the beat when all of a sudden…

His eyes shot open and his field of vision began to move, it was as if he was ascending upwards. He watched as the sky began to get closer and closer and closer and then he looked away.

But just as he looked away his vison began to move in the other direction as well, this time it went past the field of the clan slowly approaching the gate.

He was extremely far from the clan gate, how then could he see it?

He watched as the guards conversed amongst themselves and as one of the taller guards unfurled a cupcake.

When he turned to look at the cupcake his vision expanded the more, he could see the very crumbs bounce off it as the man took it to his lips.

"Are you okay?"

Luck heared a faint voice in the background.

"Luck?"

He shook his head and closed his eyes.

'Back to normal, back to normal.' He said to himself inwardly and when he opened his eyes…

Someone was standing right in front of him causing him to stumble back.

"Why are you so close to my face?"

Chari observed him for a moment before speaking.

"Because you were spacing out, what happed?"

"Never mind, it's nothing serious."

Chari looked skeptical but did not pry any further, he instead poured himself a drink from one of the many choices they had on their table.

Luck on the other hand was still surprised by what had happened.

'Soul sight?'

It was very similar to what happened when he was in search of Diana but this time he didn't willingly use it and it was different in a way.

Last time his vison moved through the forest bending through grasses and trees in search of its goal, but this time it was more like his vision moved in a straight unbending line.

'It basically just magnified multiple folds.'

There were a lot of things he still had to learn about his newfound ability and the very thought of it made him grin.

Then someone poked his back.

"Aren't you going to ask someone to dance?" Jane asked motioning to some boys who were already approaching different girls.

Even as young as they were they were already brimming with etiquette. Luck watched the way they would walk up to the girls and offer their gloved hands requesting for a dance.

They perfectly mirrored the adults.

Luck could sense their ulterior motives though, the dance was definitely not just for the fun of it. The already mature attendees were building connections with other clans while some used it as a means of sharing information amongst themselves. Some were even using this as an opportunity to find potentially brides.

'Speaking of which…'

A dazzling young man with a face that spelt trouble was currently walking towards them, his lecherous eyes fixed on Jane.

Luck spun suddenly facing her and with an outstretched hand and a mischievous smile on his face he asked:

"Might I have this dance?"

"Huh?"

Jane stared at him obviously surprised by his request but it only lasted for a second before she smiled and took his hand.

Luck turned to the man who now bore a defeated look on his face and laughed inwardly.

'There shall be no relationships formed under my watch!'

The man was about to make his way towards Sarah instead when Chari's glare froze him in place. He quickly retreated going back to whence he came.

"Do you even know how to dance?" She asked as they made their way to the dance floor.

"I guess we'll find out."

In truth Luck had never actually danced before and their obvious difference in height was another issue, but for the last couple of minutes he had been observing everyone else, he should at least be good enough to not make a fool of himself right?

He soon found himself on the dance floor struggling to keep up with Jane. To his surprise she was actually an outstanding dancer and thanks to her covering for him he had managed to not embarrass himself.

"You can't learn how to dance just by watching people you know." Jane said as they both moved to the side, following the flow of the music.

"It was worth trying right?"

Luck was not entirely a novice when it came to dancing, the issue was that the way he learned how to dance was linked to soul sight– it was too risky to try.

Jane elegantly took a step to the side before returning back to her position.

"Well you could say so, after all you just got yourself an excellent teacher."

Jane spent the next couple of minutes instructing Luck on what to and what not to do as they both danced. It was a very practical class where Luck had to learn while in action.

Although he was not particularly talented, he had observed the others for a while before his sudden lessons so this method of dancing was no longer a new thing. By the time they returned to their table, Luck, although exhausted, was already far better than before.

Shortly after Luck's return there was a little commotion some distance away from him.

Luck turned around to see someone cutting through a crowd of a surprising amount of young individuals.

Many people walked up to the girl offering her a dance but she simply ignored them, her eyes fixed ahead. She was heading straight towards…

"Huh?"

She was heading straight towards Luck.

When she finally arrived she paused and took a deep breath before speaking.

"Do you want to dance?"
