Chapter 5: Beat to a Pulp

Before I could ask him why, his fingers wrap around my collar and he tugs, strangling me with his grip. He pulled tighter on my collar and I felt the air get forced out of my trachea.

"I didn't do it." I managed to mumble with some of the remaining air in my lungs. My nerves are all on guard, ready to receive the pain he looks like he's about to inflict on me.

It seemed like he noticed he was suffocating me and loosens his grip just a bit. His right brow raised, "It seems like you have high pain tolerance. Most psychos like you do." he quips, tightening his grip again.

"Are you threatening me?"

His lips turn into a sinister smile. "Hell yeah I am."

I couldn't help but guffaw. This must be a dream. It's really like one of those detective movies you watch in a cinema with your friends. This type of stuff doesn't happen in real life. Leon is going to think I'm crazy if I tell him about this.

"You think it's funny, eh?" His knuckles crash into my jaw. Electricity shot through my mandible threatening to shatter my molars. I held my jaw with the palms of my hand and massaged it carefully to ease the pain. I'll need to get a scan. I'm positive I must have suffered a concussion with the force that radiated from my jaw. I glare back at him.

This definitely isn't a dream.

He really might have fractured a bone on my face.

"Cain stop it right now!" A voice that sounds like detective Rain's raged through the intercom.

Cain clicks his tongue and let go of my collar but not before pushing me. My poor ten dollar shirt is beyond repair. I think some hormones took over as my jaw doesn't hurt as much now but I'll have one real bad headache later on.

"This stupid junior ordering me around." he murmers under his breath. Little drops of blood dripped from his knuckles. I'm not sure if it's my blood or his. He loosens his wrist and cracks his knuckles. "You know I read your whole book." He confesses, eyeing me and sending cold shivers down my spine. "I'm gonna make you confess today. Before you have the chance to commit the rest of your murderous schemes."

His eyes glowed with fiery determination which I admired, but again, he's got the wrong guy.

"Even if you knock my teeth out I won't confess to something I didn't do." I blurt out.

A moment of dead silence. A little fear grew in my heart. He took longer than before to blink and the expression on his face softened for a second before all the muscles of anger contracted together. His eyes fumed as the chagrin built up inside him. He's like a ticking time bomb.

He swings his shoulder in preparation, "Forget prison. You're so dead today." he croaks.

"Cain don't do it! Stop right this instant!" A different voice came through the intercom. Cain drops his fist but they were still clinched. The veins on his arms look like they're about to burst. The throbbing pain in my jaw increased in intensity so I rubbed it with my palms again which helped sooth it just a little.

The man breathes a sigh of relief that he'd managed to stop this insane hound before it was too late. I mean I was already punched once so it was too late anyway.

"You know you're recorded. If there's even a scratch on him it'll be a confession under duress! You're complicating it further! Open the door this instant. I sent Rain to get the keys. If we get the master keys before you open, I'll add another week to your suspension." this person was definitely Cain's superior but he seems to be too lenient on him.
