(Damien)
I was summoned by the king to speak with him, so that's where I'm heading now.
After I made sure that the witch was in her room, I started making my way to the king.
I knew something though, that I'm not sure if anyone else knew.
Amelia is my mate.
Some might ask why I'm treating her like trash if she's my mate. But I don't give a damn.
I can't be mated to a witch, I hated their kind.
They are cunning and annoying, but somehow someone found it funny to pair us together.
A werewolf and a witch? Never heard of that happening before.
After knocking on the door, I opened it and saw King Alastair standing while staring out of the window.
It's a pity that something like this had to happen to him; he was so blinded by hatred that he never realized the consequences when he murdered his beloved.
"It's funny isn't it?" Alastair asked, making me frown.
"I was once mated to Cassandra's sister and now here you are, mated to her daughter. If she finds out, then maybe she'll cast a spell on you as well." Alastair laughed, but I didn't. Now, I was left thinking, and I hated when that happened.
"Let's get down to business shall we?" I nodded my head, agreeing with him.
"How did you and your men come to lose sight of Cassandra?" Alastair asked in a serious tone. I guess the joking was set aside, and now it was time to get serious.
"We had located her and her daughter effortlessly this time. But, Cassandra figured out that we were on to her and, in a state of panic, decided to drive instead of using a spell to make them vanish." Alastair shook his head, not agreeing with my claim.
"She had not told her daughter about that side of her. As far as I know, she had been hiding her true identity so she could not have disappeared even if she wanted to." I guess he's right since I didn't think of it that way.
"Once we located them trying to escape, Cassandra vanished. I was thinking to myself that maybe she gave up and left her daughter behind but now that you've explained it, I don't think she would do that." Alastair nodded his head and sighed.
It was almost noon now, and I could see that he did not get any rest. He told everyone about the spell and the nightmares. Being trapped in them once he fell asleep was the most painful thing anyone could endure.
"That's a given fact, my boy. Someone summoned her, and now we just have to wait for her to show herself, which she will in due time because we have her daughter." I cringed when he called me his boy. I did not want to be classified as such, I was not a boy but a man who was ready to fight anyone to death.
"What should we do then?" I asked, wanting to know exactly what we were heading into.
"I know that you don't want a mate, but you have one. Try to get on her good side for now, get her to trust you so that she can help." That was not going to happen. I didn't even want to be next to her, I couldn't be next to her without wanting to rip her head from her body.
"As you wish," I replied, then left after Alastair became silent.
Sighing, I made my way towards my room, thinking about how I was going to pretend to like my mate.
I don't even know her name, dammit. Not that I wish to know, I just don't have the time for such casual conversation.
Once I was in my room, I made my way towards the window. It's a beautiful day, one that was made for running. So, I climbed out. Luckily, it was not that far from the ground as I jumped and shifted midair.
My wolf, who is called Dark, growled as we landed safely on the ground. We ran past other wolves that were patrolling the area; some stopped to greet me while using the special link that was only meant for us.
You might be saying, if I'm a werewolf, then what is Alastair? He's the ruler for all supernaturals. He should have been stronger, but the spell that was cast on him had made him weaker.
I decided to stop by a clearing, there was a stream here that was often used to house mermaids.
I spotted a couple of them swimming and playing, when they realized that they weren't alone, they submerged into hiding. Shaking my head, I jumped in the water, making Dark growl because of the suddenness of it.
'Warn me next time, will you?' Dark said, in an annoyed tone.
'Stop acting like a cat, you are not afraid of water.' I replied.
'What are we going to do about our mate?' I asked, after a moment of silence.
'I have no idea. We are both on the same page, though; I did not want to be mated to a witch.' at least he's on my side.
'We have to do what Alastair says for now; it's the only way to get her to break the spell without assistance from her mother.' Dark said.
'I believe that her mother will show up eventually, a mother's love outweighs just about everything. We can keep her here as an asset and wait for her mother to come and collect.' As Dark and I continued to talk, I figured out what I was going to do.
I was going to have to pretend to like her, just enough to get her to let her guard down. Then, I will strike. I knew that Cassandra did what she did out of grief, but she should still remember that Alastair is the king and one that shouldn't have been messed with.
Once the spell is broken, I was going to dump that bitch of a mate. There is no
way I'm going to fall in love with a witch. That's never going to happen.
