The force of fate

(Amelia)

"So I'm supposed to remain here? Mother, I don't like that concept at all." I said as I got up from the bed.

Still in shock because of what I was told. I did not know that supernaturals existed, nor did I try to take the time to figure out whether it was real or not.

I had just set my mind to believe that things like that were a myth, but now I'm being proven wrong, and I don't know how to feel about it.

"I'm sure it will be alright while you're here, Amelia; I just have to figure out how to break the bond you and your mate share and get you out here with no problem." It still did not make any sense, no matter how she tried to explain it to me.

"If I was linked to someone here, why didn't I feel the connection?" I asked, wanting to figure out what was going on as much as possible.

"As I said, I cast a spell on you when you were a baby so that you can never find out who you truly are unless it's crucial. That spell also affected your ability to tell who your linker is. I removed that spell, so now you will be able to feel a connection once you're in the presence of him or her." I rolled my eyes at her, that's something that I'm sure will never happen.

"I still don't understand why you can't get me out of here. No bond should be so great that you won't be able to help me. Or are you doing this for your selfish needs?" Looking at my mother, I could tell that she was stressed out. But, there was nothing to be stressed about.

"Amelia, it's not that simple." I narrowed my eyes on her and placed my hands on my hips.

"It is simple! You won't break the spell that you placed on the king because you are only thinking of yourself! I get that your sister, my aunt, died at his hands, but that doesn't mean that I have to suffer as well." Mother sighed while shaking her head.

"It's a good thing I placed a sound barrier here; you're so loud, Amelia." I rolled my eyes, which had her laughing.

"I'm sorry for this, but I can't give the king what he wants. He deserves to suffer for what he did to Athena, and watching him slowly lose the light within him as he withers away is enough to feed my hunger for days." A look flashed in her eyes, letting me know that she was serious. She was not going to help him.

"Then I will find a way to break your spell, I can't be trapped here because you only care about your feelings." She shook her head and stood up.

"If I could help you, I would, Amelia! I told you before, there's a force or a bond here that's keeping you tied to this place. I, along with Diana, did try to get you out; it's just not working. I'm going to call my brother Gael and see if he can help us. Meanwhile, study the spells in the book, and whatever you do, don't use any on anyone until we are sure of what we are dealing with." With that, she vanished after hugging me. Sighing, I dropped back on the bed, while taking up the book.

Its leathery feel made my fingers tingle as I opened it and started reading out loud.

"This book should exclusively be used by its rightful owner. Anyone who tries to open it will be blocked. Only the true coven witch can chant these spells. This book is not to be practiced for anything evil; if found to be used for such a purpose, the elders will carry out suitable punishment." Ok, that wasn't so bad, right?

While I was there reading the spells, there was a knock on the door, and the next thing I knew, I waved my hand, and the book disappeared.

I started to panic a little, but when I saw its soft glow coming from its hiding place under my pillow, I breathed a sigh of relief when the glow went out.

The door opened after I told the person to enter, and when I noticed that it was Damien, I frowned at him.

"There's no need to look at me like that witch." He started smirking, and I was left trying to figure out what was so funny.

It was after a moment of silence that I figured something out, and my eyes became wide because of two things, and there I started to panic for real this time.

I figured out that I was a witch and that I had used a spell that I had read about in the book with no problem at all. The second thing that hit me was the scent that was wafting through the air, making my knees go weak.

The scent reminded me of when rain falls on the grass after a sunny day. The fresh scent molded itself against my body, pulling me in.

It was then that I realized what it meant: Damien, my kidnapper, is my linker.

The one person I was meant to be with, the one person who would be my first for everything. It doesn't matter if I'm twenty and still a virgin, I have no clue why or who I was saving myself for.

But, standing in front of me was the one person I wished I had never met. How am I supposed to do this?

As my mind strayed with compelling thoughts, I couldn't stop myself from admiring Damien.

He has long jet-black hair and the bluest pair of eyes that would draw anyone in. I also noticed earlier that when he smirked, he had a dimple on his chin. He's tall too, around 6 something, but I am 5'8, so it didn't matter to me.

It took a throat being cleared for me to break out of my panic state as I slowly began to focus once more.

"I admit that I'm handsome, but you don't have to stare at me like I'm a piece of meat. I just came here to tell you that lunch is being served and that you should follow me." I did not want to follow him, nor be next to him or even in the same room.

"Either you come with me willingly or I'll drag you there, your choice." After he said that, he groaned and ran his hand through his hair.

"Sorry about that, where's my manners? Follow me please." I swallowed

my pride and followed him since I had no other choice but to.
