The training

(Amelia)

"The training will take place this evening. Be sure to be there so that you can train as well, but no heavy lifting. Just work on your spells," Damien said, his voice calm, but there was an edge to it, a trace of worry he couldn't hide.

I nodded, but I couldn't help the irritation that rose inside me. I knew he meant well, he always did but sometimes it felt like he was more concerned with wrapping me in protection than trusting me to handle things on my own. I wasn't fragile. Yes, I was carrying our child, but that didn't mean I had to be sidelined, not when there was so much at stake.

"I'll be there," I said, trying to keep my tone light, though I could feel the tension building.

Damien's eyes softened as he stepped closer, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I just want you to be careful," he murmured, his hand lingering at the side of my face.

"I can't lose you, Amelia. Not now. Not with everything that's happening."
