Chapter 6

Cassandra knew in restaurants like this, shifts were shared. She wanted to make it clear to her employer as she was still a student and would never make it to morning shifts.

"Night shifts...?" He drawled. He thought about it. e usually stayed until midnight anyways, it was an opportunity to get closer to her. It wasn't like he had a family at home or something. "Night shift it is then." He smiled and got up.

"That's it?" Cassandra asked impulsively. Wasn't she going to sign some 'no rule breaking contract'? She thought.

"Yes dear, that's it. You will start tomorrow. I'll fill in your details when you come. Night shift starts from six to... I would've said twelve, but you can always finish and leave by eleven, as you're still a student." Zayn said, walking to his table.

"Really!? Thank you so much, Mr Zayn." She stood up and bowed her head in gratitude. "Thank you very much." She giggled and Zayn felt his heart stir.

"It's alright, you can leave." He didn't want to share the same space, for now, as he didn't know what he was feeling. Was it really love at first sight?

Cassandra left his office, excited that she had gotten a job so easily, not knowing it was her beauty that had gotten the job so fast. She came across the lady, "Thank you, lady! I'm going to start working here tomorrow!" She smiled.

"Aw really." The lady patted her arm, "That's beautiful, I look forward to working with you, dear. I will perhaps talk to him on your uniform." The lady smiled from ear to ear. "Are you hungry, do you perhaps want to eat something?"

Cassandra noticed the woman was so much different than her features. She looked strict but she was so nice. It made her remember the saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover." "I'm alright, thank you, lady. I can't wait to start working with you aswell." She smiled, waving to the lady goodbye, she left. Cassandra hopped her way out in excitement. She left the restaurants' building and found a bus home. She changed into her home slippers when she entered inside her aunt's house.

"You're back, Cassie?" The woman asked, still seated on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, watching a different kdrama than the one she was watching before Cassandra had left.

"Mm. I got the job, auntie!" She squealed as she sat beside her aunt Jess who looked stunned.

"Really?!" She gasped and Cassandra nodded. Aunt Jess enveloped Cassandra in a warm hug that was almost motherly. "Oh my God, sweetheart, that's so great! Finally!" She laughed and released the girl. What was is it?"

"It's this restaurant. The director is a very nice person, he said I could start tomorrow. When I come, we'd go about the details." She said and her aunt nodded.

"That's great. So your days here would have to be cut short?" She gave a warm smile. "It's alright, you need to be alone sometimes anyway." The woman patted Cassandra's cherry hair and sighed, continuing the series.

Cassandra didn't have an episode of seizure the previous night, she slept peacefully, atop all her excitement. She dressed in her blue and black before leaving her room. She came down for breakfast and had cereals. "I'll be leaving now, aunt Jess." She said as she changed the home slippers she wore, to her black flats in the small shoe rack by the door.

"Alright sweetie. You'd come home before leaving for work, yeah?" She asked and Cassandra nodded before leaving the house.

That day at school was like every other normal day. She didn't see the red haired named Elijah, though she kept glancing around and wishing to see him. She had something with yogurts for lunch after morning classes. When her lessons for the day ended, she carried her feet back home. It was five thirty when she got back home and she still had good thirty minutes to prepare before leaving for work. Her aunt Jess had texted her that she was going to meet a friend that evening, she wasn't around when Cassandra came back.

Cassandra dressed in black loose fitting t-shirt and beige coloured designed knee-length shorts. She wore on black crocs and carried a different tote bag — where she put her phone and any other thing possible. She left the house and locked it with her own key.

Cassandra entered the night bus to the street of The Garden of Eat'n. It was a place she could never forget nor get mixed up. She alighted the bus and entered inside the restaurant. She didn't get to see the strict looking lady and only walked straight to the elevator, pressing the button for the highest floor. She knocked before entering inside Mr Zayn's office. He wasn't seated behind his desk nor was he in the office at all, so she sat on one of the soft couch and waited him. After a few minutes, he emerged from a door that lived in the office.

"Oh dear, did I keep you waiting." Cassandra stood up and bowed her head in greeting.

"I didn't wait long." A graceful smile touched her lips. "Good evening, Mr Zayn." She said and he nodded for her to sit. She watched him go round his office desk and retrieve a file from one of the drawers. He walked to sit beside her with little space in-between them but Cassandra didn't mind.

"You'll sign here." He flipped through the pages and only stopped where her signature was needed.

"Shouldn't I go about the rules and breach of contract?" She said, looking up at him and back at the contract.

"I trust you wouldn't break any rules." He said, the corner of his lips lifting up.

"Isn't that too much trust?" Cassandra chuckled and looked back down at the contract file.

"It's not too much, actually. Just leave a message if you wouldn't attend any day of work. Breaking plates and glasses can be, sometimes, inevitable and I can pay for that. So miss Cassandra, why don't you sign?"
