Luxan (II)

"So that is what all of this is about?" Kael asked after staying calm for a few minutes. "The anger of a betrayed love? Turning the life of another into a game?"

Luxan shrugged, "You can call it so, but will you wish to know my story? I, who was also betrayed by—"

"What else do you know about the devil?" Kael interrupted.

Luxan scowled, seeing that Kael wasn't interested in him. He sucked his teeth.

"That is about everything I know," he replied, crossing one leg over the other.

Kael nodded. "The card game."

Luxan leaned forward, his eyes scanning Kael's face, and he smiled. "You won't be in time to save anyone, not this time, Kael. The devil can do anything, anything at all. Sending Avyssa was just a tip, making you walk in these paths..."

Kael could tell the demon was trying too hard, and he was right. Kael wanted to hasten up and leave if he could. He had already made a promise to play a card game with this demon.
