Chapter 2: Bella losses her Dad.
Bella went back home, she hurried to go see her Dad in the hospital. She ran to the ward with a heavy heart. Her heart was heavy with worry. Bella spent some precious time with her Dad, she told her tales of what happened in the school that day, but she didn't tell him about her break up with her friends Twinkle and Purity. She gave him the fruits to eat, he only took a little so he wouldn't feel sad. After a while he sent her to get him water and before she was back, he has already given up. He left her all alone. Bella suddenly became an orphan.
The news got to everyone in Bella’s class, including the school authority and also Bella's ex friends, Twinkle and Purity. Her classmates and school authorities offered condolences excluding Twinkle and Purity who pretended they never heard about it.
In class, Shirley a fellow classmate of theirs went to Twinkle and Purity's desk, her expression somber and her voice low.
"Hello Twinkle." Shirley said.
"Hi." Twinkle replied as Shirley sat on Twinkle’s desk.
"I heard your friend lost her Dad." Shirley said gently.
Purity suddenly jumped into the conversation.
"What friend!? I didn’t lose my Dad.'' shouted Purity.
"Not you, I mean Bella." Shirley clarified.
"Ooh Bella..." replied Purity.
"Bella isn’t my friend anymore." Twinkle said.
Shirley's eyes widened in surprise, she has come to sympathize with them but look at them being so cold towards the topic.
"Why?" Shirley asked. "Whatever!!!" She continued, "but at least you should know she lost her Dad." Shirley said.
"I don’t know and I don’t want to know." Twinkle replied.
"What!!!!!!?" Shirley screamed. Of course Twinkle's response was callous. Shirley stood up, her voice laced with disgust.
"Because her Dad is dead now and it seems she isn’t buoyant any more, that’s why you are not friends with her anymore right?" Shirley aked, standing up from the desk.
"And what’s that supposed to mean?" Twinkle asked trying to defend herself.
"You know what? Get lost." shirley shot back.
"I don’t have your time any ways, I made a mistake coming to ask you." Said Shirley.
Purity chimmed in, with her voice dripping with malice.
"Please go, okay!! Go to your seat." Purity said.
Shirley sighed and walked out.
As shirley walked away, Purity and Twinkle exchanged a glanced, their expressions unrepentant. They have made it clear to everyone that their friendship with Bella was conditional based on her wealth and status.
As the days passed by, the schools atmosphere began to shift. Bella's loss has touched a nerve, her classmates started to see Twinkle and Purity behavior as heartless.
Students would gossip about their cruelty on the hall way.
Shirley decided to visit Bella on her own will. Though they weren't friends while she was in school, but she wanted to console her.
She knocked on the door and Bella opened the door.
Shirley came in with a flower bouquet.
"Hey Bella, I'm so sorry for your loss, I had to come see you."
"Her Shirley, thank you so much for coming, it means the world to me." Bella said smiling weakly.
Shirley hugged Bella and handed the bouquet of flowers to her. "I heard you love sunflowers." Shirley said.
Bella took the flowers from Shirley and smiled gently.
"Thank you so much Shirley, you really went out of your way, this is lovely and yeah, I love it."
"I knew you would, so how are you holding up lately?" Shirley asked.
"Come sit down first." Bella said as she dragged Shirley in. "I miss him so much." She said as they say down.
"Sorry baby girl, I just want you to know I'm here if you need someone." Shirley said.
"Right." She said as she teared up.
"Nooo, noooo, don't do that." Shirley said trying to console her.
"I won't, I promise." Bella said.
"Wanna go out?" Shirley asked trying to revive her mood.
