Chapter Fifteen

In the distance, I saw a wooden cross protruding from the ground and turned back. I stalked closer to the location and felt sick to my stomach. Isaac was tied up and hanging from the cross, his heart barely beating, and his body covered in blood. I felt tears escape my eyes before I freed him from where he was bound. I held him tightly and sobbed against his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, my love. This was never meant to happen to you. Please forgive me."

I whimpered softly as I felt my heart shatter once more, I was trapped in a nightmare. He chuckled weakly against my shoulder and rubbed my hair with his hand. With all the strength he had, he held me as tightly as he could which made me sob a little harder.

"Don't be afraid, I knew from the moment I met you as Holland that you were meant for something more. I'm not afraid of death, I was afraid of losing you. Look at you now, Vixen. Powerful and beautiful as ever."
