Stronger and Life Skills! (Edited)

I wake up after my 'little' outburst. I can't seem to remember what I saw though, it feels important but it keeps slipping away. I get up, go inside, and clean myself up before I hop back into Astrologia.

Cooling off in the shower I recall seeing Drake Evermoore with him provoking me about Steph. I have to take care of this soon or she will be relentlessly pestered and possibly killed again for turning him down.

'Wait, I remember hearing dad mumble about the Evermoore family and some federal DA… if that works then I have no need to lift a finger.'

Smiling I get out after cleaning up and prepare to go back in. I smile as I go back inside realizing that I have to prepare fast for the new quest I got.

'I might have to go at it alone and have the family grow stronger separately.'

"Link Start!"

As I load back into the town square I see my family huddled together. I walk up and wave to them.

I notice my fathers skin has taken on a brass hue (Not brown, I actually mean brass.) and I ask what changes happened.

"My race turned into an Earth Dragon."

'Say what? That's cool, I guess I'm not the only one then.'

I look at Madeline and see her new pointy ears. Noticing that she smiles.

"I am now a Nature Elf."

Not knowing what that is in the slightest I look to her for answers.

"As a Nature Elf I have a high affinity with earth magic and nature as a whole."

I then look towards Steph and see similar ears on her.

"I'm an Aqua Elf, I have a high affinity with the Sea and water magic."

I smile glad that they all got some unique races and I would assume matching classes.

"You don't want to know what class we got?"

I look to my father and shake my head yes.

"I definitely want to know."

My Father got something kinda cool. He got a Paladin Class that utilizes earth magic for its defensive properties instead of light magic. It makes him the ultimate tank.

Madeline got THE Druid class. She can call upon forces of nature to do her bidding and even change into any animal she has made a pact with.

Steph got something pretty unique as well. Her class is called Undine. Her class gives her a unique connection to the sea and a high affinity with water magic. Her class is oriented around support magic that was thought impossible for the water element. She can heal and buff. With enough practice she may even gain an affinity with ice magic. (There is no race in this world with that name so don't associate it that race.)

"I'm assuming everyone got unique or hidden classes like mine."

They nod their heads yes. After going over everyone's classes they asked for mine.

I describe my class to them and that it's a growth class so it'll become something else soon. Surprised by what my class is it astounded them. Steph taps me on the shoulder.

"Have you checked what changes your class has gotten after you leveled up?"

I shake my head no and proceed to check.

I put my 55 stat points in everything but strength by going 1221. Then I look at my new skills. Mana Regeneration is self explanatory.

Spear of Light I:

A Spear of condensed light mana with high penetration power. Only those that have great mana control can use this spell.

Damage - 125%

Next level - 140%

Summon Spirit I:

This spell allows one to contract with a spirit of their element. The user of the spell is chosen by a spirit, not the other way around.

Once a spirit makes contact that is when this spell binds you two with a contract.

Surprised by what I saw I'm loving the Summon Spirit spell. I won't use it yet though. I have no clue as to what could happen if I do so.

After I finish looking and satisfied by what I have I stare back at Steph.

"Ready to grind some more or do you guys wanna go see what Life skills we can learn?"

They all vote on finding some life skills first, then time for grinding. Also if I didn't mention this, I don't need to guide anyone on how to spec their characters. We all play games. This is just the first we played together.

I find an info broker and pay for a map to see where all the guilds, shops, and Teachers for the respective lifestyle skills.

They choose their respective skills. Dad chose Alchemy, Madeline chose Cooking, Steph chose Jeweler, and I make my way to the local smithy.

As I continue through the city I hear a loud noise and I see it's coming from the smithy I'm looking for. I walk up seeing a group of players yelling at the door.

"If you won't sell to the Berserker Guild, then we will ruin your business!!"

They run off at the sight of city guards. I walk up to the door and knock.

"GO AWAY!!"

I keep knocking and he keeps yelling. That is until he finally comes out.

"I SAID-"

He looks at me in surprise.

"What do you want mage?"

"I would like to learn how to smith from you."

He starts laughing at me. Yeah I get that a mage wanting to learn such a thing is funny but….

"If your serious then come inside."

I follow him inside to the forge. As I look around I see a unique sword. It looks covered in rust and it seems to be whispering something dreadful.

"What is this sword?"

"No clue, every time someone touches it it's like they are possessed. I haven't tried selling it since the last time."

"I don't blame you."

I follow him to the back where the smithy is and I look around exited. I hear him clear his throat. As I stop and look at him I see a faint smile.

"Ok, normally I would send you on an errand to mine materials so you could find your own iron. It seems though you came at a good time for when I have enough already on hand."

He has me switch into appropriate clothing for when I start. After that he has me watch what he does.

He grabs an iron ore and then he sticks it inside the furnace. As I see it get red hot he pulls it out and starts hammering away into a rectangular shape. I can see impurities falling off with each strike. As he smooths out the iron and hammers out imperfections I see a perfect iron ingot.

"That was amazing!"

He smiles and hands me a book. As I grab it it disappears into notes of light.

*Gained skill(s) related to Blacksmithing*

*Smithing, Leatherwork, Woodworking, Sewing, and Mining were added to your skills*

Surprised at the many skills I gained he has me hurry to the anvil to try for the first time. How to shape an Ingot.

I used the tongs nearby to grab an ore and then put it into the furnace. As I see it ged red hot like when he did it I grab it and then start to hammer away. I keep trying to put it into shape as I beat out the impurities.

I put it back in the furnace to reheat it and hammer away again. By the time I'm finished I notice that mine is still full of dents, mine is smaller than his, and the purity of the metal is less than his.

He laughs at disappointment and pats me on the back.

"You're on the right track kid, you just need to perfect what you have done. Keep going a few more times. I'll keep an eye on you and I'll guide you to help from time to time."

I nodded and grab another ore to put it in the furnace. This time I try to mimic what he did. I pull the ore out as it get red and start to hammer away again. This time I managed to keep more of the ore but it's at 67% purity.

After this I keep trying until I finally succeeded. I made an ingot with 94% purity. He pats me on the back smiling, he picks up my ore and puts it to the side.

"Now that you have succeeded, My name is Gorford Wesson."

"Kayde Willard is my name."

We shake each others hands and I get a notification.

I ignore the uproar of upset and jealous players as I look over the rewards. The gold is nice but I want to check the skill book.

As I read the description I'm surprised. I can select any spell or skill that my class can use. The only downside which is good in my opinion is that it's a single use item. I finish up and close my inventory.

I then go over my status and see a new Blacksmith subclass next to my regular class. I smile as Gorford gives me a blueprint.

"This is an armor set that a friend of mine came up with. It's supposed to be a mix of leather and cloth armors for a Mage. This is your next task. Get skilled enough to make this and show it to me when you do."

I thank him and as I head out I look at the gear. The robe that is worn looks very similar to a certain wizard of franchise. On top of the robe is a type of 17th Century leather armor with matching arm guards. On the legs is armor covering the thighs and shin guards.

Before I go he teaches me a simple spell.

"This spell even blacksmiths can use, we just haven't anymore since we are always in a city instead of moving around. This spell summons a forge to anywhere you are. The quality and amenities it has is dependent on the person who uses it."

He pats me on the shoulder before heading back inside the forge.

Excited I thank him and run off to continue smithing and making my family stronger in the process!
