Bonzai Pov

After Gale left the throne room, Arius stepped forward to take the man called Bane with him. I escorted our parents back to their room, mother must've known we'd be in there longer than expected especially if Arius had left with Leora and comeback again. Because she made us all eat early tonight, procedures like reattaching a limb took hours of rest for Leora to heal herself. Near death experiences at its worst will take a week of sleep if Arius left her it meant she was awake! Its odd it was at least 2am now, the guests arrived around 6pm Leora would've left around 7pm Arius made it back around 1:30am. We sat in that room for 6-7.5 hours. Damn it! Mother stopped time in the ballroom, whoever this Bane is she needed Arius to be the one to take him.

Whatever it is that's going on, mother is trying to alter the timeline without directly interferring. Lucky the monthly audience with the people is in a few days for now we need to let everything settle. As long as the guests are here we won't be able to enter our human forms, I stand from my bed and head into the bathroom, I put a plug into the sink and fill it with water from the tap. Since Im staying in my room at my mother's estate tonight I'd have to let my family know. Leora was supposed to be on guard tonight one of us stays here every time, it prevents our mother from using her power so much and we can protect her. Most of the time it's always her protecting us, since 9 times out of 10 she already knows what's going to happen.

I sigh and raise my hand over the water in the sink creating a mini water merman. "Tell my family at the southern estate that I am on guard duty tonight, if they wish to see me they can come tomorrow morning. Bid my kids goodnight and tell my wife I love her." With that I take the plug from the sink and away he swims. One of the first things I learned to do with my ability sending little messages through the drains comes in handy now and then. I don't like cellphones and only use mine for family chats, since everything runs from water in my city I use this method to communicate.

My wife Hysteria is the jealous type, but I love her despite the flaws. She gave me two beautiful children, we would've had 3 but she miscarried. She hasn't quite been the same since, she often spaces out and becomes aggressive if I'm away too long. But she's strong it's one of the things that drew me to her, in fact our son Barak inherited her fierce temper. I laugh at the memories, he's a handful. The first time I told him no the little shit blew the circuits in my estate. We had to replace all the bulbs and circuitry, sure we have more than enough money but the defiance almost made me throw him into the ocean. Our fights escalated from there, but I drew the line at him short circuiting my entire city.

I had to change to water wheels at least I had more control over how the city was powered. I threatened to send him to live and train with his uncle Arius if he kept getting out of hand. He seemed to freeze and shiver at that, he hasn't acted up since though he scowls at me every now and then. We managed to be civil at least. Shaking my head at the thoughts I decide now would be a good time for a shower and sleep. One of my siblings would switch with me tomorrow if Leora wasn't up to it. In the mean time I would work out how to deal with the things yet to come. My strength was a strategist, if mother couldn't instruct us on where to go or what to do. I was the next best thing, myself and Gale were close since we were the two eldest we normally discussed things with each-other before going over it with the younger two.

As I walk out of the shower in a pair of shorts drying my hair with my towel mother bursts fhrough the door, I can see panic within her eyes but her body does not betray her. "Bonzai we must go, It's Leora! I didn't see it, I don't know why I didn't see it! She says. Dropping my damp towel on the bed I grab her hands. "Ma what do you mean? Leora is fine, Arius wouldn't have left her side if not. What did you not see?". Mother ripping her hands from mine, takes a step back the panic in her eyes now turned to anger. "You're telling me! someone who see's visions and controls time that what I know, is wrong?!" With every word her voice grew louder.

Father came from behind her rubbing her shoulders "Aeon, it was just a dream you have only had 1 hour of rest, you're so tired you can't distinguish between dream and vision". She shrugged him off, "You can stay here with your father Bonzai! I will get Hisoki to take me, neither of you follow me!". I tried to reach out to her "Ma…" before I could get out any form of apology or reply she spun on her heel shove my father out of her way and walked out slamming my door behind her. "You're just gonna let her go?" My father stared at me tired and forlorn. "I know better than to disobey her" I reply with a heavy sigh. Picking up the damp towel throwing it in the laundry basket and putting on a clean uniform.

"Where are you going if you're not going to follow your mother?" Father asks. "There is no point in me staying here now, I might aswell go home". Grabbing the cellphone I rarely used it dinged alerting me to a message in the group chat. Gale is No.1: WTH Bonzai, ma is on her way to Leora's with my son and no guard?!. Damn did she have to put it in the groupchat, I thought 'A Bell chime' indicating I have another message backing out of the group chat I see, Sis Gale: Sorry I thought I private messaged you. But you deserve it for not doing your job!

"Shit!" I yell followed by another bell chime. Look at my Father he stared at me with his eyebrow raise and a knowing smirk. Cringing I check the new message Wifey: WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU, IF YOU AREN'T GUARDING YOUR MOTHER!? "Tomight really isn't my night" I facepalm making my way towards the door of the room. "You and me both" I hear my father call out as walk out of the room.
