Ch 28: The Story of Sherlina Cloden and Lyana

"Ah! I'm sorry for asking something so impolite..." Sherlina, who immediately realized her mistake, quickly apologized to Ryan.

"It's okay, I'll come if you invite me," Ryan replied, giving an answer that surprised Sherlina again.

"If that's okay with you, then of course I will invite you to come," Sherlina said with a smile.

"Then that's good," Ryan said, nodding his head.

"Will you be teaching the basics of nobility again to the other noble children?" Ryan then asked again.

"Of course, I will do it as long as I am called and paid by the noble family," Sherlina answered honestly.

"Then, can you do one thing I ask?" Ryan said, looking at Sherlina again.

"If it's something I can still do, then I will do it. So what is it, Young Master Ryan?" Sherlina became curious again.

"Please do not accept calls from the Carls, Herton, and Druic noble families." Ryan's request immediately made Sherlina silent; she then looked at Ryan with a confused expression.

"Why? If I may know? They are a noble family, and they can pay me, so why should I refuse their request to teach their children?" Sherlina then asked, furrowing her brow.

"The Carls, Herton, and Druic noble families have issues that are difficult to explain; you don't need to know. What you need to know is to not accept calls from them," Ryan said, looking at Sherlina.

"If you don't want to tell me, then I'm sorry, but I can't do what you ask," Sherlina said, apologizing and shaking her head.

"... Haaah... You are a good woman, Sherlina. I just don't want you to experience something bad, which is why I want you to have a good husband. I will tell you, but don't tell this to anyone: the Carls, Herton, and Druic families have some rather unpleasant issues."

"They are known for often killing servants without clear reasons, raping female servants, and then killing the raped female servants along with anyone who knows this information, to cover it up from others."

"But the more you try to cover something up, the easier it is for that thing to be discovered. That's why I don't want you to accept calls from them; you could be treated badly. I know you won't believe this, but this fact is information that can be easily found out, as long as you are willing to pay a little money for that information."

"You are a good woman, and I like women like you, which is why I don't want to hear that you are harassed and then die in obscurity. Even if you don't die, you might be forced to marry one of them and only be used as a tool for their desires. So listen to me, and don't accept any calls from those three families," Ryan said, looking directly into Sherlina's eyes.

In the novel, there is a flashback that tells the story of Sherlina with Lyana, where Lyana recounts that there was a woman who once taught her the basics of nobility. The woman was very kind and had a pleasant personality, which made Lyana consider her an older sister.

Yes, that woman was Sherlina Cloden, but one day Lyana heard that Sherlina was teaching the basics of nobility to one of the noble families, and it was a family known for its bad reputation.

Then one day, Lyana heard the news that Sherlina had married a member of that notorious noble family, which made Lyana worried.
