CHAPTER 5: The gods

CHAPTER 5: gods

Call Ridjurd for me, I know he would have been tired from the battle" The old man said with excitement blooming on his face.

"Actually.......... "

Linurk paused,

The excitement on the man's face dropped on hearing the tone in his voice.

"Your son is dead" Linurk said sadly,

The clan chief excitement fell completely into sadness on hearing the death of his son. His son was the only one who could harness strange abilities(magic), he did great tings and protected them through the tough times. If it was up to him, he wouldn't make his only son fight against the wolves. As much as he wanted to protect Ridjurd so he could lead the village when his far gone, but at this moment that didn't matter and that fantasy of Ridjurd leading was never going to come true.

"I am the only survivor"

Linurk said snapping the clan chief out of his thoughts and back to reality. The clan chief sat down on the ground, he knew that this was not the time to moan his son.

"They might come for us knowing Ridjurd is dead"

Linurk said and yet the clan chief remained quiet.

"You are not saying anything "

Linurk yelled glaring at the old man,

"What do you expect us to do"

The clan leader said with a calm voice, trying to control his emotion. He was in grieve, wanting to moan the death of his only son but he had to maintain his Steeze.(¬_¬)

"Even if we decide to run, the Dare wolves won't let us be and we won't get far before they catch up to us"

"They'll hunt us down until we are all dead " The chief paused and Continued,

"They'll track us down until none of us remain so tell me what you expect us to do"

The chief yelled.

"I don't know"

Linurk responded with a sad tone in his voice feeling useless as he sat down on the ground as well trying to put his thoughts together.

"You know there's a story"

The clan leader said, Linurk shifted his gaze to the chief anticipating what he was about to say.

"No"

"No"

"No" Linurk yelled,

"Not this again" Linurk said with a frustrated tone in his voice,

"It was said, that one day when our people are in danger and all hope seem lost the gods will send someone down, someone with strength and abilities beyond anything imaginable " (He paused)

"He/ she will come like a light,in flames, falling from the heavens and it will deliver us from the wrath of the monsters and we shall be saved"

The clan master said,

"So the so called gods" Linurk said,

"Do not mock the words of our ancestors and especially the gods"

The clan leader roared with fury.

"Look around us at the brinks of destruction is it not time for them to send their so called chosen light down to save us or do they want us dead first" Linurk yelled in anger,

"Everything has its timing Linurk" The clan chief said, with a calm tone in his voice.

"Or the gods don't exist and that's just a bed time story for little kittens " Linurk yells once again.

The clan chief understood his frustration and anger,

"Linurk I understand your frustration but we have to be patient" He says,

"NO"Linurk yells

"I'm not putting my hope in some children story" Linurk yells as he stood up from the floor about to leave the hut.

"You are starting to sound like Ridjurd " The clan chief said,

"So maybe he was right"

Linurk says,

the clan chief shifted his gaze back to him with a confused expression on his face.

"Hope is a lie"

Linurk said as he bent his head and left the Hut.

Leaving the clan leader confused, but as the clan chief, if he didn't believe then who will.

"In the midst of darkness they'll always be light"

Unknown to both Linurk and the clan chief, a young feminine creature stood behind the Hut listening to their conversation the whole time. She had ash coloured hair, light ash pupil in her eyes with animal fur covering her bust and another around her waist going down stopping directly above her knee, leaving her belly exposed.

She was like Linurk with cute cat like ears on her head. Which she used to listened attentively to her father and Linurk conversation, using her hands to cover her mouth as she cried.

"Brother Ridjurd"

She said still crying in tears as she slowly backed away from the Hut.. She turned around and walked away from the hut being as quiet as possible until she got her little hut.

She collapsed on on the ground in her Hut and she cried and cried until she had no more tears. She cried as memories of her deceased brother flashed through her eyes. Those times where both of them would be together playing, laughing with themselves.

"The gods "

"If you exist just like my dad says"

"Please help us" she said in tears,

"Send the warrior whom the legend spoke of to come to our aid"

"Please" She said as she cried some more before finally falling asleep.
