“Miss Clark, congratulations on becoming the president of our company,” One of the shareholders said with a smile as he looked at Kaylee.
“What’s there to congratulate her? If it wasn’t for the fact that Rhiannon died, she would never have become the president. After all, she neither had enough shares nor is she talented at Rhiannon,” a woman said in a mocking tone.
When everyone heard her, they remained silent, even the others who intended to congratulate Kaylee and form a good friendship with her to benefit when she took over.
Kaylee’s eyes were filled with hatred as she looked at the woman when the room was filled with silence. She wondered why people were still talking about Rhiannon even after her death.
“Sorry. I know that I am not as talented as my sister. I am looking forward to learning more from you so that we move to a higher level,” Kaylee said in a low yet pitiful tone.
Many men and women admired her for her words and they didn’t compare her with Rhiannon. Some just rolled their eyes as they wondered why the latter wasn’t in the entertainment industry instead.
“Sir, the hall is full of reporters and they are waiting for you there,” a secretary said as he walked inside.
“Sure,” Mr Clark said as he nodded his head.
Although they would have given the title to Kaylee in private without holding the press conference showing off the process, the latter didn’t want that as she wanted to show off.
Some people in the wealthy circle had always looked down on her always telling her that the company would fall in her sister’s hands and that she was an illegitimate child while her mother was a mistress.
Kaylee hated hearing those words the most thus she wanted them to see that in the end, she was the one who got the company. That she, a woman had gotten her family’s company, unlike the other ladies in the wealthy families. She wanted them to be jealous of her.
“Our handwork is paying off,” her mother said with a smug.
“Okay. Tell us to go to the conference and not keep the media people waiting,” Mr. Clark said with a smile as he was also happy that the company was falling into her favorite daughter’s hands, not Rhiannon's.
He had always hated Rhiannon as she reminded him of his late wife. Every time he saw her, he was reminded of how he was always looked down upon and the cold murderous eyes before the woman’s death.
“Yes father,” Kaylee said as she stood up and followed her father.
On her side was her mother and fiancée and behind them were the shareholders, directors, and managers of the company.
The hall was filled with noise but after they saw the family and the company’s higher-ups, the media stopped talking and looked at them.
The shareholders and the rest went and sat below the stage while Kaylee’s family sat at the side. Kaylee as the day’s limelight wasn’t present since she was left behind the stage.
“Good morning everyone. As you all know me, I am Mr. Clark, the president of Clark’s company. Today is a great day to witness my daughter taking over my seat as I step down to retire,” Mr Clark said.
“Mr Clark, it hasn’t even been two days since your eldest daughter died but you are holding this press conference. Why is that?” a reporter asked making the others start murmuring.
Mr Clark’s face turned green as he never expected such a question and interruption. To him, the reporters were far behind him and had to respect him and be careful with what they were saying.
“I am sorry but you haven’t said your name and the company you are working for,” Mr Clark said coldly making the reporters who were murmuring and had the intention of asking some questions related to Rhiannon remain silent.
“Oh, I am sorry sir. My name is Lee from the Flash media,” the reporter answered with a smirk on his face.
Hearing the company’s name, Mr Clark’s face darkened as he never expected that. The other reporters looked at their fellow reporters with envy.
“Okay,” Mr Clark said in a low yet humble tone.
The flash media was the number one media in the city and country. No one could fight it or even get connections if you weren’t rich and well-connected enough. To be interviewed by them, one had to have at least a listed company or more than a billion assets.
Thus, when Mr Clark heard the name, he was shown and at the same time humbled that his daughter had already gotten that company’s attention. It meant that many people would watch the conference and their company would be well known. He forgot his arrogance and didn’t mind the reporter’s question as he shook off his thoughts of getting rid of the reporter in the media industry after the press.
“Although my eldest daughter died in the fire, we have to agree that life has to go on. We can’t lock ourselves at home mourning while the company has no one to manage it,” he answered the question.
“Couldn’t the company’s vice president manage it during that period?” another asked making some chuckle while the face on Mr Clark turned gloomy.
“Mr Clark, it is known that your eldest daughter had fifty-five percent shares in the company. Now that your youngest daughter is taking over, does that mean that Rhiannon’s shares now belong to her,” the previous reporter asked.
“Yes, they are sister and were closest best friends before she died,” Mr Clark answered with a proud look on his face.
“It is unheard of that a legitimate and illegitimate daughter to get along and that the legitimate's shares left by her mother are given to the illegitimate after her death,” the reporter said without giving up.
“Now that you have mentioned it. Mr Clark, you didn’t dare to wait long after your eldest daughter’s death afraid that the lady had left a will for the shares to be given to another person, am I right?” another reporter asked.
Mr Clark was trembling as he never expected such a thing. He looked at his lawyer who was in the midst and the latter walked over.
“I am sorry but you better talk about what you know or have evidence as we can sue you later on. Here is Miss Rhiannon’s will that she left behind,” the lawyer said as he gave a copy of it to the reporters.
The room was filled with silence afterward.
“Now that you have no other question. I would like to invite Kaylee to come to the stage,” Mr Clark said with a smile as he felt relieved.
Claps were all over and Kaylee walked to the stage.
“Hello everyone. My name is Kaylee Clark,” Kaylee said with a polite yet sift tone.
“She is so beautiful.” Some of the reporters said.
“Today, I will transfer my shares to my daughter. Together with my late daughter’s shares, Kaylee will have the majority share in the company with 85 percent,” Mr Clark said with a proud look.
The lawyer took out some documents and handed them to him.
He signed the document which had the title Shares transfer then gave it to Kaylee to sign them.
After the signing, claps and people were congratulating the latter.
“Now that she is the majority shareholder, she will immediately become the company’s president,” Mr Clark said.
“I object! How said I am dead?” a voice came from the entrance causing the room to be in chaos.
“Who is the young lady?” some reporters asked.
“Ghost,” Kaylee said as she hid behind her father.
“She is Mr Clark’s eldest daughter, Miss Rhiannon Clark,” a reporter who knew Rhiannon said.
When all eyes were on her, Rhiannon walked to the front in her long white dress which made her look like an angel who had descended from heaven but due to the cold and indifferent aura on her, she seemed more like a fallen angel.
