Chapter 11

Rhiannon narrowed her eyes as she looked at the lawyer who lowered his head after he met her gaze out of fear and instinct to survive.

“Is that so? Then why was Kaylee taking over the office?” Rhiannon asked in an innocent yet curious tone.

“That’s her not you. Your mother is the one who put that rule there while Kaylee’s mother never did,” the lawyer answered immediately.

“Well, thank you so reminding me that my mother only gave birth to me and that Kaylee isn’t my sister. I almost forgot since she has lived with us for many years,” Rhiannon said innocently but it was enough to make everyone apart from her family and the lawyer laugh.

“Rhiannon!” her father shouted in anger as he tried to slap her.

Rhiannon held his wrist on time managing g to escape the ruth and pain.

“I am sorry but I can’t allow you to slap me in front of people! I am so beautiful that I can’t manage to make my face disfigured,” Rhiannon answered slowly and her tongue carried some fear in them making everyone’s mouth switch but for different reasons.

Kaylee looked at Rhiannon’s face and clothes and she was filled with jealousy.

‘I am get that dress and any other dress she has bought latest,’ Kaylee sow in her heart.

“Sister, please forgive Dad,” Kaylee said pitifully and in a wronged tone.

‘Sure. But I can’t understand why you are telling me to forgive him when he hasn’t wronged me in the same way. Oh no! I forgot that you aren’t my mother’s child but a child bore by a mistress,” Rhiannon replied her eyes seeming innocent but her sharp words differed from her appearance.

“Rhiannon! She is your sister!” Mr Clark roared out.

‘Well, if she is my sister doesn’t that mean that you cheated on Mom with another woman thus she was conceived? I am not lying when saying that she is a mistress daughter!” Rhiannon argued back making her father agitated wishing she could have just perished in the fire.

“Sister, I am sorry if I made you mad by taking your shares after we thought that you had really died. After we found that, all your shares and your belongings automatically belonged to mine,” Kaylee said with a hidden smug but Rhiannon who was observing her saw it and snorted.

She closed her eyes out of anger as she didn’t know how to retort Kaylee.

The truth was just as she had said. She had always treated Kaylee as her best friend and sister thus even if there was a will, she would have given all her properties to the latter if not for her so-called fiancée or cheating bastard.

“Well, I am not dead. Aren’t I in front of me? Also, didn’t I hold Dad’s wrist just now?” Rhiannon asked.

“Rhiannon, can you stop making a scene? Due to the rule left behind by your mother, you can’t be the president thus, I as your father will continue managing the company for you till you get married. Also, since I have retired from office and given my shares to your sister, she will take the responsibility left behind by your mother. What I mean is that she will be the president of the company till further notice,” Mr Clark said causing Kaylee to give Rhiannon a provocative smile but the latter didn’t see it as she was busy laughing.

“No need Dad. If the company is handed to Kaylee to manage till I get married, I am afraid that the company will be ruined or at the edge of bankruptcy when I return. Also, didn’t she take my fiancée?” Rhiannon said coldly making the smile on Kaylee’s face vanish and glare at Rhiannon who pretended not to notice her presence at all.

“You have no choice! You have to listen to your father!” Mr Clark said coldly forgetting that they weren’t at home but in public.

Although Rhiannon had been sharp and sarcastic, she knew where they were thus despite the fact she wanted to talk rudely or not recognize her father and the rest, she didn’t want the public to view her as a cold-hearted daughter.

But her father kept pushing his luck.

“No need! As I said, I will manage my own properties. I am married!” she realized a bomb.

Everyone was shocked then afterwards, her family started laughing thinking that she was crazy.

“Lies! How can you be married when your fiancée is here?” Mr Clark asked in between laughs.

“Who said I got married to him?” she asked in a serious tone making them stop laughing.

Her father snatched the envelope in her hands, opened it, and took out the document which was inside. As he read, he was shocked and looked at Rhiannon in disbelief.

He looked at the man’s name but couldn’t recognize it but it felt familiar still.

Kaylee saw her father’s look and could tell that something wasn’t right thus she took the document from her father’s hand and started reading.

She was also shocked.

“I won’t have married a stranger actually but I saw the press conference you guys had the day before yesterday and it wounded me that to you, I am dead and everything that belongs to me was handed to Kaylee. Although she is or should I say best friend, how can she even take my fiancée? Or was there something going between the two and I never knew?” she asked causing Kaylee to panic.

She lowered her head so that no one could see it but Rhiannon who had already seen her family’s panic smirked but didn’t question further.

“Angrily, I went to the civil bureau and got married to the man who seemed pleasing to the eye. Oh, you can give the lawyer to check whether the certificate is fake or not, Rhiannon added.

“It is real,” the lawyer said after examining it.

Kaylee’s face turned pale while Aoron’s eyes darkened. He regretted not asking Rhiannon to sign the shares transfer document before they set the house on fire but he also understood that there was no reason for him to regret what had already happened.

But he convinced himself that Rhiannon loved him so much that even if he went to her after the press conference and stated that he was under the influence of drugs, she would accept him back, compensate him with a new house, or even give him some shares. She will also divorce her husband.

“Since everyone has seen that I have provided evidence proofing that I am married. I can now take over the president's seat and manage the company that my mother founded instead of giving it to outsiders,” she said coldly.
