Chapter 18

When Rhiannon walked upstairs, Octavius' dark eyes were on her back till she disappeared.

“Alfred, can you call the bodyguards that were assigned to be with her today,” Octavius said before returning to what he was doing.

“Yes, young master,” the butler said as he snorted when he saw that.

‘Why pretend that you don’t care about her then call her bodyguards to ask how her day was? Can’t you just ask her herself? No need to tire this old man with moving around,’ he murmured as he walked but sadly, Octavius who had good ears heard him.

“I heard you. You can continue complaining or bubbling just do it loudly instead of murmuring it to yourself yet I can hear you. Don’t worry, I will pretend that I can’t hear you. Also, you need exercise since you are an old man,” Octavius said coldly making the old man speechless.

To avoid his young master’s fury, Alfred walked faster but met Octavius' friend at the door.

“Old man, why don’t you ever learn? You know how he has sharp ears that can hear anything from afar,” the guy said as he suppressed his laughter.

“Pfft. How could I know that he will even hear my whispers?” Alfred said in a defeated tone making the guy unable to prevent his laughter.

“Well, let me just go in,” the guy said as he walked into the house.

“Hae, I saw some women’s shoes at the shoe rack, Whose are they? Or is your sister here?” the man asked Octavius immediately as he walked in.

Octavius lifted his head and took a glance at him before continuing to do what he was doing pretending that he didn’t hear anything and there wasn’t anyone’s presence.

“Are you ignoring me? I know that you love and protect your sister so much but why ignore me? Your friend! I thought that you came here because of me,” the guy said dramatically as he took a seat opposite Octavius.

“In your dreams,” Octavius cold voice sounded.

Rolling his eyes, he sharply looked at Octavius.

“Why are you here this time? Why did you call me here when I was watching drama?” the guy asked as he was bored and wanted his friend to concentrate on him.

“Drama? Since when did you start watching dramas?” Octavius asked in a surprised tone as he looked at his friend.

“It was a free drama. The Clark Corp was supposed to hand the company to their second miss but who have thought that the dead would rise and show up? It was a …”

“Who rose from the dead?” a soft calm voice interrupted him shocking him in the process.

If he was holding something, it would fallen down and if he was standing, he would have found himself on the ground due to the shock.

“Bro, why do you…”

He couldn’t find the right words to say when he saw Rhiannon’s clear face.

“Wow, where did this angel come from?” he asked in a loud voice when he saw how Rhiannon’s face and white skin but her complexity was a little bit pale.

“Didn’t you ask for a person to rise from dead?” Octavius answered plainly causing the guy’s lips to close and straighten without a single smile.

“You aren’t serious right?” he asked but no one responded to him.

“Who rose from the dead?” Rhiannon asked Octavius as he walked towards them.

Octavius lifted his head and patted the space next to him thus she walked towards him and sat down.

“Who…” she wanted to ask once more but heard Octavius' voice.

“I heard your question the first time and also the second. No need to keep asking the same thing over again as if I have no ears.”

The guy was relieved when he saw that Rhiannon didn’t get any special treatment from his friend as they all knew that Octavius never got close to women.

“You! Who knows! You may have ears but are so dirty that you can’t hear anything,” Rhiannon replied angrily forgetting what she wanted to know.

Octavius' hands paused what they were doing when they heard her words while the guy widened his eyes as he couldn’t believe he would one day see someone talking to Octavius in that tone.

“If they are so dirty, as my wife, isn’t it your job to clean them?” Octavius retorted as he was never one to back out from a fight.

His words shocked the two of them and Rhiannon didn’t know how to respond to that.

The guy wondered whether he had heard the right thing but was more interested in their argument than in her identity.

“Ah! Answer my previous question,” Rhiannon said trying to run away from Octavius' words.

Octavius’ lips curved upwards but since his head was lowered, no one noticed it.

“You! Don’t you know how you shocked people when you walked into that press conference? Weren’t you supposed to be dead?” he answered her as he knew that he wouldn’t be able to continue with his work if he didn’t answer.

“Oh,” Rhiannon answered in a lazy and uninterested tone when she heard him.

Her clear big watery eyes looked so innocent as she glanced at him.

“You guys continue with your talking about going to find something to eat,” she said before excusing herself.

“Dude!” Why didn’t you tell me that you have a woman in your house?” the guy asked in a low tone afraid that Rhiannon would hear his words.

“Didn’t you see some female shoes at the door? If that wasn’t clear evidence to prove that there is a woman here, did you think that I was the one wearing them?” Octavius asked causing the guy to be speechless.

Now he understood why Rhiannon didn’t continue arguing with Octavius as his shameless was on a higher level.

“Who knows, maybe you changed into a woman and we don’t know,” he answered causing me to glare at him.

“Who is she?” he asked when he didn’t hear Octavius saying anything.

“My wife,” Octavius said in a cold tone.

“What? Wife? Is she even eighteen? She doesn’t look as if she is eighteen!” the guys said in a loud voice making Octavius frown.

“She is. It's just that she has a fair skin than the other women who are always around you,” Octavius replied.

“I never thought that one day you would even have the guts to tell me that I don’t have taste but I can’t argue with you since you have a very beautiful wife,” the guy replied.

“Don’t dare covet what doesn’t belong to you if you don’t want to lose your life,” Octavius warned him as he felt threatened when he heard his friend’s voice.

“Hei! How can I do that to you, eh? But why does she look familiar? Is she from the capital?” his friend asked.

“No! Didn’t you say that the Clark’s eldest miss risen from death?” Octavius replied as he rolled his eyes wondering where he found such a friend from.

“Wait a bit? Does that mean you are living with a ghost?” his friend asked making Octavius speechless.

Octavius massaged his temple as he felt as if the guy would cause him to suffer from a headache due to the loud voice and stupidity.

“Dave, can’t you sue your mind for once? How do you manage your company with that brain?” Octavius asked before he ignored the latter.

“Does anyone know that you are married? Also, what will happen to that woman your family wanted you to marry?” Dave asked as he wanted to know whether there would be a fight between families in the capital.

He loved watching family dramas and he thought he should take a trip to the capital to see how they are fairing with the news that Octavius is married.

“My mother has never been one to side with them when her kids want a different thing. That’s them, not me. Also, as long as I make sure that my sister and mom are on my side, there is nothing to worry about. You just do your thing don’t worry about me. I am even sure that you are here 'cause you need my help or want me to clean your mess,” Octavius replied but Dave didn’t reply as he knew what his friend said was true.

“Well, I can’t wait to see those girls from the capital be heartbroken. At that time make sure that you take care of your wife as those women can do anything just for love.”
