"Why don't you like Britney?" I asked Blake one afternoon. Almost a week had passed since the monster incident and we had been hanging out during lunch and dinner ever since.
"Why don't YOU like Britney?" He asked back.
"Well yeah she's annoying and a bully but what did she ever do to you?"
"Not me, Jax."
"Ok? What did she ever do to Jax? No, wait. I don't wanna know. If I know I'm involved and I don't wanna get involved."
"Why not?"
"Nothing."
"You could help."
"I don't want to help. I don't believe in the concept of mates. Scratch that, I despise the concept of mates."
"Why? Finding your mate is the best thing that could ever happen to a supernatural. It's great."
"Great for some. Not so much for others." I replied grimly.
"Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway. Jax is the future alpha right? Britney wants to be the future Luna even though she isn't Jax's mate. So she keeps clinging to Jax everywhere. Since we all move as a group, Jax dealing with her also meant we had to deal with her."
"Can't he just make her go away? You know future alpha and all."
"Nope. Britney's dad is the Beta of the pack. Second to the alpha. Pack members won't be at rest if they learn the Beta and Alpha kids don't get along."
"Oh...Wait so Jax is looking for his mate?"
"Yeah. Like desperately looking for her."
"Really, is that what he told you?" I muttered.
"What, is there something else?"
"Nope."
~Blake
"If you know anything that could help please tell me. Jax is like a brother to me and I really want to help." I say, looking in her eyes pleadingly.
She sighed and said "Just to be clear I'm helping you not him"
"Got it. Crystal clear." I smiled.
"Great, now call Jax and tell him that someone has something to say to him."
I nodded and dialed Blake's number, it rang thrice and he picked up.
"What do you, you glorified parasite?"
He said.
"Oh shut it,you little mutt. Someone is here and they have something to say to you." I said and handed the phone to Kasha.
"Jax?" She asked.
"Yeah, who is this?"
"In two days during dinner, your mate will approach you and will reject you. Prepare yourself. I honestly think it'd would be amusing to see you fall after being ripped apart from the pain of rejection but it would be embarrassing for your pack to watch."
She ended the call before Jax could even respond and tossed me the phone.
"Wait, wait, wait, what is going on? Did you actually mean that?" I asked bewildered.
"Yeah. Jax's mate is going to reject him in two days. She is one of my suitemates so I heard her talking about it. They think they're being quiet but they whisper so loudly sometimes, I can't just help and overhear them."
"Why would she reject Jax?" I asked.
"Because she thinks Jax is gonna reject her. Jax has known about them for a while now but he didn't approach her and she can't approach him because the stupid werewolf hierarchy stuff." She explained while packing her stuff. "So the other two suitemates convinced her to reject him before he had the chance to reject her. It's sort of a girl thing, you know. It's not about the dumping, it's about who dumped who."
"Jax that idiot. Why didn't he talk to her?" I muttered.
"Shall I tell you?" Kasha asked, her eyes twinkling.
"You know?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll tell if you walk me to class."
"Let's go."
"So," She began. " Jax loves his mate but the obstacle between both of them is Britney. If Britney realises that Jax has a mate she might start bullying his mate. Werewolves are very possessive of their mates. If Britney hurts Tessa, Jax might not be able to control his rage. So he is buying time by ignoring his mate till he figures out something to do with Britney."
"That does sound like something Jax would do." I sighed.
"In my opinion, Jax is an idiot. A colossal one too."
"Wow, subtle much?"
"Communication builds trust and trust builds a relationship. How is Tessa supposed to know that her mate loved her? She isn't psychic,ok? She can't read minds. How was she supposed to know of any of his plans if he didn't tell her? Is just so hard to talk to someone who is supposed to be the love of your life?" She huffed angrily, her eyes burning in anger. Somehow I felt like she wasn't talking about Jax and his mate anymore.
"Hey, Blake. Deliver a message to Jax for me will you?" She said to me smiling.
As I was heading back to my room, I kept thinking about Kasha. She seemed amusing from the start, which was why I approached her. She seemed so happy when I asked to be her friend. She seemed cold at first but if you got close to her you'd see that she was quite cheerful and mischievous. She seemed to be hiding so many secrets.
I sighed and opened the door to the penthouse. Jax that idiot. What was he thinking? If he couldn't tell his mate, he could have told us. We could have helped him. I clenched my fists just thinking about it.
I met Josh first.
"Don't you have a class right now?" He asked.
"I do. Don't you?"
"I do. Just don't feel like it. What did you do by the way? Jax is pissed."
"Good 'cause so am I."
"Huh? Blake? Ughhh! Blake wait up!" Josh groaned as he chased after me.
I walked to Jax's room and kicked the door. As I guessed he was sitting at the edge of his bed, on his wits end and about to go batshit crazy. He grabbed my shirt and slammed me into the wall.
"Do you think it's fun to play with me like this? Who was that girl? I swear if this one of your games Blake, I will..."
"Let go." I interrupted.
"What?"
"I said let go of me, you idiot!" I yelled as my fist connected to his face.
"Games?" I scoffed. "The only one treating this as a game is you, Josh. Do you have any idea of the gravity of what could have happened?! You could have been rejected. Do you know what happens to people who are rejected?! They die, Blake. You could have died because you were too proud to ask for help. There is nothing wrong with trying to solve things yourself but you should know when to ask for help. That's what a good alpha does."
" 'That girl?' That girl is my friend. The friend who saved your sorry ass. She has a message for you. She told me to tell you to wake up. You're an alpha. Britney might be a Beta's daughter but you're the future alpha. In time even her father will bow to you. If you don't show your status difference now, they're never going to realise it. Sometimes it's good to solve some problems diplomatically while some other require you to it's use brute force. What the point of all that power if you're not going to be able to protect the ones you love anyway?"
"You can take her advice if you want... Or don't, frankly I don't care. Do whatever you want." I huffed angrily and left the room.
"What's happening?" Josh asked. Damien stood behind him looking like he just rolled out of bed.
"Ask Jax." I said. "He seems to have the answers to everything. Bloody idiot." I added and stormed off, slamming the door to my room as hard as I could.
I spent the rest of the afternoon, sulking on my bed. Josh knocked asking to come in but I just ignored him so he opened the door and came in anyway.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Group meeting in the lounge. Come on. Get up and stop sulking in the dark." He said, yanking me to my feet. "I like sulking in the dark." I grumbled as I stood and followed Josh to the lounge.
Jax was already there with Damien when I got there. I ignored him at sat next to Damien.
"Are you done sulking?" He asked. "Nope. Where have you been all day?" I asked him.
"Nowhere." He replied, smiling.
Uhhhh-uhh.
"I just want to start by saying I'm sorry. I thought I could handle it on my own but I couldn't and I ended up hurting a lot of people. I'm really sorry." Jax said.
"You shouldn't have to do everything by yourself. That's what friends are for. To be honest, I'm just as pissed as Blake but I am mature enough to not punch you in the face." Josh said directing the last part at me.
"It healed." I scoffed.
"Not the point." Josh replied. "The point is that you should ask for help when you need it and be smart enough to know when to ask for help. We all had to deal with Britney and we all would have been more than happy to help you get rid of her."
"Yeah. I know. I'm sorry." Jax sighed.
"Blake, don't you have anything to say to Jax?"
"Apology accepted."
"Yeah, same." Said Damien.
"Anything else?" Asked Josh.
"Like what?"
"I don't know. How about apologizing for punching him in the face?"
"But I'm not sorry."
"Just say it."
"Fine. Jax I'm sorry I punched you in the face."
"I accept your insincere apology." He smiled.
"Great. Now hug each other and be done with this whole matter."
"Eww. Gross. No!" I refused.
"Oh come on, Blake. Come here, don't be shy." Jax urged.
"No. No. No. You stay away from me." I stood as Jax kept coming closer.
"Come on, Blake. Give in to the love." Damien cheered.
"No. Stay back."
In the end, Jax and I kept chasing each other around till I gave in to the love.
