Chapter 28 Shopping.

That evening when the girls went to Paul's room in their nightgowns the maids had seen them but ignored the whole thing as this was not the first time they saw something similar. It wasn't any of their business what the young master did as long as he was happy because that meant that he would stay here longer and they could live here in comfort instead of the slave's quarters that their owner kept them in when there was no work for them.

Not to mention that Paul insisted that they could use the bath house instead of just washing themselves with the water from the well and also ordered the cook always to prepare their meals the same as the ones he and the girls would have.

Right now the maids and guards were envious of the two girls for having such a generous master and prayed that he would stay here for a long time since that meant that they could enjoy the luxuries of this place longer.

This also motivated them to be more diligent in their work and not slack off even a little since if they angered him they might lose the privileges they now had.

Paul counted on this being the case since it was always better to have people work diligently on their initiative than force them to do it.

The next day after a good night's sleep and a tasty breakfast Paul, Mia, and Maya went out to do some shopping.

He also asked the servants if anything was lacking so that he could do all the shopping in one go.

Only the cook reported that she would need more ingredients and spices in the kitchen, other than that there was nothing more that they would need.

Their first stop was the market since it was the closest to their new home.

Paul remembered to restock on food and spices that the cook requested.

The girls on the other hand were amazed that there was such a place with all kinds of items, most of which were new to them.

Then they went to the clothing store and the girls were speechless at the sheer variety of the clothes inside.

Paul spent a lot of time there watching the girls try on the clothes and he bought them a few sets of new clothing since it was always a good thing to have more common clothes since they did not attract as much attention as the ones they had inherited from the Yuki clan's young misses.

He also bought some for himself and the girls were having the time of their life making him try them on.

Their next stop was the tailor's workshop where they had their measurements taken.

Paul ordered a few dresses for the girls just in case they had to attend some formal event and also he ordered a few sets of clothes for himself.

They were spending a lot of money but they could afford it and there was much more that they needed to buy.

In the scroll and book store, Paul bought the books that he needed and there were a lot of them since he needed to use them to teach the girls and also to learn himself as the knowledge he had was only from the basic books as his Father's family deemed it unnecessary to spend money on the more advanced ones.

Right now Paul bought both the basic and advanced books as he needed to broaden his knowledge if he wanted to survive in this world on his own.

He also bought a lot of paper, some brushes, inkstone, and some pencils.

Mia and Maya had to learn how to write on paper and he also remembered Maya's talent for drawing maps so he got her the supplies to do just that as it was an extremely useful skill that was worthy of nurturing.

They then visited the alchemist to buy some pills and potions that they needed, they had still plenty left but it never hurt to be prepared and the one thing they lacked was the medical supplies, Paul made sure that he would have plenty of them if they were ever needed.

He also bought basic and advanced alchemy manuals along with a furnace and some basic ingredients.

-Young master, if you want to try your hand at alchemy then I suggest you find yourself a teacher.

The young man working at the counter advised him.

-Thank you for the advice and I will consider it.

Paul thanked politely as the young man was most likely an alchemist or at least he studied it.

The alchemists, even the ones of the lowest rank were mostly very respected and with a good reason since if you offended the alchemist you would have problems with buying pills in the future, and without pills and potions you were screwed.

The same could be said about most of the other cultivation professions, like healers, armament crafters, formation masters, and more.

In short, offending those people was a stupid idea, to say the least.

After that, they visited the weapons shop since they needed new weapons.

The ones they got from the young people who died were all branded with the symbol of their clans and could be recognized so Paul decided to get new ones for them.

He also let the girls choose their weapons since they would be using them and this made the girls excited.

They went around the shop looking at all kinds of weapons until Mia spotted something unusual.

-Are these also weapons?

She pointed at a pair of fans on the display.

-Yes, young lady, these are called dagger fans since they have hidden blades inside also they are made using spirit beast materials so they can be also used as a shield and should stop an arrow from a long bow without any problem.

The shop owner explained and handed her the fans so she could take a look at them.

The weapons were a set of two and they were beautiful with the depictions of the phoenix on one of them and a vermilion bird on the other.

Mia loved them since the moment she took them into her hands.

-Do you want them?

Paul asked, seeing how excited she was.

-Yes, but they are expensive.

She pointed at the price tag which read 50 gold coins.

-Is this the price for a set or just one of them?

Paul asked the shop owner.

It is a price for the whole set.

The man answered.

-We will take them.

Paul decided to spoil the girls a bit since he could afford it.

At the same moment, Maya came to him with two identical short swords similar to the Japanese wakizashi swords.

-Master can I have these?

The girl asked showing them to him.

-These are a fine choice young lady as they are light and durable perfect for a young girl to use as her weapons.

The owner promoted the swords as they were lying in his shop for a long time and it would be good to finally sell them.

Paul took out the blades and they were light not to mention that their length would be ideal for Maya's size.

They also came with a strap that would allow her to wear them on her back, making it easy for her to move and added protection to her back.

-We will take them, Paul decided as the price was 45 gold coins for both of them.

Now was the time for him to pick a weapon and he already knew what he wanted.

Paul picked up a sword that looked like it could have been crafted in ancient China.

It was a beautiful weapon that was easy to use and fitted perfectly to his hand.

Seeing that these customers were picking the weapons that were not only expensive but also durable the owner was happy because this meant that they would spread the word about his shop and that meant more customers and more money for him.

Paul didn't stop there with the shopping he bought archer glows and protective gear for all of them and also a few hundred arrows along with the training weapons.

The whole tab was 235 gold coins and the owner dropped it to 200 since they were buying so much equipment also he added three hunting knives for free.

They asked the man to brand their weapons and equipment with the same mark that both girls had on their bodies since Paul decided this would be his mark.

The man agreed and promised to deliver their goods the next day to their residence.

Now that this was all taken care of it was time for some food and then there was the less enjoyable part of today's outing as Paul decided to hand over the identification tags to the mercenary guild.

Which reminded him to order tags for himself and the girls when they were near the jewelry store.
