Despite the truth of Mai's words, Kai merely smiles. Filial piety compels him to keep his agreement unvoiced. Instead, he turns his attention to his newly arrived lobster.
"Where is he now, anyways?" continues Mai like she is making a complaint. "I don't think he's been in this country for the past six months or so."
"He hasn't," Kai replies quietly. "He has been at Feilon since last January or so. I don't think he has any intention of coming back. Not for long anyway."
His sister frowns with distaste. "So he has immigrated to a developing country in Asia? Is he mayhap trying to make some Blackwoods who are more—how should I say this—exotic?"
"Probably," he says lightly as he takes a bite. 'Most likely,' he thinks when he swallows.
