Chapter 12 : Always playful

Splashing cold water on her face, Amaya washed her face. Taking out a handkerchief, she dried her face with grace. "Want it?" Somiya held out her lipstick to Amaya like a magician presenting a disappearing rabbit.

"Nah, I have a habit of licking my lips like a chameleon on a sugar rush, so no thanks." Amaya smiled, narrowing her eyes at Somiya like a naughty schoolgirl plotting a prank. Somiya nodded her head and applied the lipstick herself. Amaya stood behind her, staring at Somiya's reflection like a cat watching a bird through a window. "Somi, can I ask you something?"

Somiya raised her eyebrows like a surprised owl. Amaya licked her lip, hesitating like a little. "Ermm.. Do you not like Sofy? I mean you seem quite uncomfortable around her like a vegetarian at a barbecue."

Somiya lowered her gaze and put her lipstick in her pocket. "It's not like that. I'm totally fine with her," she whispered like a shy mouse.

Amaya lowered her eyes, parted her lips, and spoke, "Well I'm sure you saw what happened at the stadium. Because of that girl, our friends were almost sent to prison. And they were almost kicked out of the match too. Sofy and I were in a bad mood like two grumpy old ladies at a knitting circle, you know." Amaya smiled, narrowing her eyes a little.

"I know what you mean." Somiya nodded her head, understanding Amaya's and Sophia's anger.

"We didn't want to involve you all, I mean we weren't sure how far we were going to go with that girl if it wasn't because Hailey ma'am interrupted us like a superhero landing from the sky. We may have been suspended or even expelled."

"What!?"

"It's good now so relax, Cutie. Sofy was concerned about you and your group. And she is like a mother hen always ready to protect her chicks." Amaya rolled her eyes playfully.

"Oh, now I understand. I'm really sorry I judged you without knowing what she did to your friend. It's not like I hated you, I mean I actually found you extra cool when you threatened that girl." Somiya and Amaya both chuckled and laughed like two hyenas sharing a joke. "But still I'm really sorry for thinking a little bad about you and Sofy. Wait, can I call her Sofy?" Somiya asked, her eyes sparkling like a mischievous fairy.

"You're more than okay to call us by our nickname," Amaya assured Somiya, nodding her head like a wise old owl. Elli and Sophia also came out of the bathroom and washed their hands. "What were you guys talking about?" Sophia asked, raising her eyebrows at Somiya and Amaya like a curious squirrel.

"About some arrogant girl," Amaya smirked. With a smile, Sophia threw water on Amaya's face like a playful dolphin splashing its trainer. Amaya gasped and widened her eyes in shock like a goldfish that had just been startled by a hungry seagull, "Sofy!" Amaya gritted her teeth and glared at her like a lioness.

Amaya chased after Sophia, her laughter echoing through the bathroom. Elli and Somiya watched the spectacle, their faces painted with amusement.

"Come on, Sofy, let me get you back!" Amaya exclaimed, her voice dripping with mock menace.

Sophia giggled, her eyes sparkling like a thousand tiny diamonds. "Never!" she retorted, her voice as sweet as honey.

The chase continued, water splashed, laughter erupted, and finally, Amaya managed to corner Sophia in a corner. With a mischievous grin, she reached out and tickled her relentlessly. Sophia squealed and squirmed, her laughter bubbling up like a fountain.

"Okay, okay, I surrender!" Sophia gasped, her voice barely audible over her laughter.

Amaya released her grip, her own laughter bubbling over. "That's what you get for being a water-throwing hooligan!"

Sophia wiped away a tear of laughter. "Forgive?" she asked, extending her hand.

Amaya narrowed her eyes, pretending to think deeply, she grinned and shook it. "Better be it last time, sweetie."

"Oh shit!" Elli, Sophia, and Amaya flinched at Somiya's sudden curse. "Today I had a project to submit!" Somiya widened her eyes in horror and made a crying face. "You haven't submitted?" Sophia asked. Somiya shook her head and flopped on the floor like a dying fish. "Ama, I didn't see you submitting your project either." Elli said, raising her eyebrows suspiciously at Amaya. "What project?" Amaya asked, making everyone speechless.

"So Mina, can you finish it till coaching?" Amaya asked, standing in front of School captain Mina in her own classroom and giving her a stack of A4 sheets. Mina was flabbergasted by Amaya's audacity. "Are you out of your mind!?" Mina scolded, anger evident in her eyes. Amaya closed her eyes, hearing Mina's loud voice. "How can I finish a 50-page writing till coaching!? What am I to you!? A freakin' robot!?!?"

"I have an idea! Mina, help Amaya to finish 20 pages. I'll ask Grey from Section B to finish 10 pages and Sophia will ask Vice-captain Jen to finish another 10 pages. How is that?" Elli asked, glancing at everyone.

"Wait! What about another 10 pages?" Amaya asked, pissing everyone off even more. "Ama, it's your project! You need to do that!" Elli scolded, glaring at her.

"Wait Elli! I'm not going to do a freaking 20 pages of-"

"Mina, Amaya is yours for a week" Amaya widened her eyes in shock, seeing Elli making her a sacrifice. "Oe Elli! Why are you selling me for a project!?"

"It's your project! Of course we'll sell you!" Elli screamed, scaring everyone in the room. "Besides, I'm sure Mina wouldn't mind having a personal slave for a few days."

Mina's smile widened menacingly. "Can't see a better deal than this!"

*Ting*

Sitting in a library, Sophia and Elli took the A4 paper and helped margin it, then passed it to Fred and Seth. Both of them also helped to draw a line in the A4 paper, then passed it to Mina, Jen, and Grey. Books scattered around like a tornado had just passed through, and Somiya and Amaya helped to find the paragraph to write on, underlining them, and they put it in front of Mina, Jen, and Grey. The three of them copied the paragraph in their own ways, Mina's handwriting neat and precise, Jen's a little more messy, and Grey's a complete disaster.

After sitting at the same spot for more than two hours, everyone felt their asses numb. Mina, Jen, and Grey stopped writing and shook their hands, then again started to write, their pens squeaking across the paper. Fred and Seth leaned on each other, tired from making a line, their eyes drooping. Massaging their arms, Elli and Sophia rested their heads on the desk, getting tired from drawing a margin and highlighting the words, their hair falling into their faces. Somiya put eye drops given by Amaya out of nowhere to put on her eyes if she gets tired from reading books non-stop, her eyes red and bloodshot.

"Where is Ama?" Sophia asked, her voice hoarse and tired. Somiya glanced at Sophia, then after a few seconds, she shrugged off her shoulders. "Don't know. She said she would bring juice for everyone. It was one and a half hours ago though." Sophia groaned loudly, her hands throbbing, ass paining, and legs numb. "I'm starting to think she got lost in the library," Elli said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Or maybe she got kidnapped by a book-loving monster," Fred added, his eyes wide with mock fear. "I can't find the difference between moms and her. Wherever they go, they always get lost for more than an hour in talks." Seth added, rolling his eyes.

Everyone burst out laughing, even Sophia, despite her discomfort.

"Really!? Brother, you were that strong!" Amaya exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement. "Let me tell you, that thief didn't even move an inch till the police came. He was shaking like a leaf, and he even begged the police to take him away from me." The security guard said, his voice full of pride. His biceps bulged as he flexed his arm, and his uniform strained against his chest.

"Damn, look at these muscles. Look, Ama! It wasn't made just for show. I would have cripple the thief with a single well-placed strike if I had these muscles too!" Jay patted the security guard's arm, which had a gym muscle the size of a small melon.

"Brother, you did wrong working for this school. This school will definitely go down after we leave! You deserved better! Change the school after we leave, brother!" Amaya said, her voice despising her own school. "What can I do? They came begging for me to protect their school, and I have a soft spot for kids."

"Pfft-hahaha.." Everyone present there burst into laughter. Their laughter echoed, and even the security guard himself chuckled. "Our brother is a softie from inside!" Jay exclaimed, hitting the security guard on his arm. "I know, right? Our brother is too good for this school." Amaya said, nodding her head in agreement.
