Sienna was livid, more than she had ever been. The reporter's question kept running in her mind like a broken record.
'Did Sienna Lawrence plan the death of her parents? Did she want to be the sole owner of the Lawrence Group and Estate? How long had she been plotting this murder?'
Sienna was agonized and threw everything on her desk to the floor. The objects clattered heavily, and her mug and the glass piece shattered, the sharp fragments pricking her legs.
Clutching her head tight, she squatted and lowered her gaze. Her eyes welled up and she instantly let out a wail, pouring all her heart out as she cried for her family. Her heart twisted in pain, her eyes blurring with tears while her nose turned stuffy, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Sienna felt miserable. Everything felt terrible and once again, the thought of leaving everything and joining her family entered her mind.
Time ticked and Kyrell, who had been keeping guard outside, looked at the closed door before him in concern. He hadn't heard any sound for a long time and he hesitated.
'Should I take a look? Would Sienna have calmed down by now?' he wondered.
Biting the inside of his cheek thoughtfully, he waited before his brows shot up when he saw Esme approaching him.
"Mr. Winchester, do you think it's okay for me to go inside right now?" she asked in apprehension. "It's almost time for the meeting with the shareholders."
Kyrell rubbed his forehead and sighed heavily. "I'll take a look. Prepare for the meeting, Miss."
Esme nodded, allowing the man to handle her Boss while she started making arrangements for the meeting.
Meanwhile, Kyrell knocked at the door a few times. However, there was no response from Sienna.
Worried, he entered the office, only for his eyes to widen when he saw the state Sienna was in. She was squatting with her hands clutching her head. She looked utterly agonised and he felt bad for her. His heart wrenched in pain, an unfamiliar feeling sprouting within him.
Kyrell rushed to the woman instantly and noticed the fragments of glass around her.
"Sienna!" His voice was filled with barely concealed emotions and he squatted before her, his hand moving towards her immediately.
Hesitating for a second, he looked at the woman who had yet to notice him. Her right palm was dyed red with blood as she continued to hold her head, maintaining a protective stance. He had never seen her this vulnerable before, not before him at least.
Sienna was the strongest woman he had ever known. To see her in such a fragile state made him want to kill all the people responsible for it.
"Sienna," he sighed and moved closer to her, ignoring the sharp fragments around him.
"Everything will be alright," he tried to console her. But the woman remained deaf to his words. She didn't react, not to his words nor to his touch.
Fortunately for him, she didn't move when he touched her hand and Kyrell moved closer to her until he just mere inches from her.
"Sienna, I'm here. Nothing will happen to you," he said, lowering her voice as much as possible, sounding soft and gentle so as to not scare the lady.
Sienna needed tender care and gentleness. She needed to be loved and trusted and Kyrell took it as his responsibility to show her that she wasn't what the world portrayed her to be.
With utmost tenderness and compassion, he held her wrists and forced them away from her head. His hold on her hands was tight, but not strong enough to hurt her.
Sienna raised her head when she felt his hand and the sadness and self-loathing in her eyes stunned him. Kyrell was devastated to find her eyes filled with distress, one which he had seen in people who had suicidal thoughts.
A pang of regret and sympathy filled him followed by a strong sense of protection. In a pure mindless act, he pulled her flush and wrapped his hands around her shoulders, bringing her into her warmth.
It took a second or two for Sienna to comprehend what was happening and when she did, she thrashed in his arms, trying desperately to get away from him.
"Let go," she ordered, her voice hoarse and nasally.
Kyrell didn't heed her words and continued holding her in his embrace. He didn't move when she hit him, he didn't react when she punched his arm. He didn't bother when she unleashed her fury and punches on him. He just hugged her while he waited for her to calm down.
Sienna thrashed in his embrace, forcing the man to let go of her. But Kyrell didn't move. Instead, he pulled her closer until she was completely engulfed in his stronghold.
Sienna's strength dwindled as time passed and her resolve to get away from him vanished. Her arms lost strength and they dropped to her sides weakly. She gave up fighting him and leaned against his shoulder, moving closer to his neck as she sniffled softly.
Kyrell's warm body gave her a sense of protection she hadn't felt since her family was murdered and the tears that she had failed to shed rolled down her cheeks.
Nobody said a word. Nobody moved from their spots as they continued to squat with Sienna in Kyrell's embrace.
Kyrell held her close as she cried her heart out. He didn't stop her even once or say any words of assurance. Instead, he allowed her to find peace on her own.
Nobody knew how much time had passed. It was only when he felt the woman in his embrace stop crying that Kyrell took action. Supporting her by her thighs, he picked her up, still holding her in his embrace and Sienna subconsciously wrapped her legs around his waist.
He brought to the resting room in her office and placed her on the bed. But he could not move away from her. Sienna clung to him and when he tried to release her, she clasped her hands tighter, moving closer to him.
Kyrell felt helpless. But he had to let go of her. Her palm was wounded and he had to treat her before the injury became worse.
"Let me get the first aid. Okay?" he asked gently, looking at her in the eye.
Sienna watched him for a moment or two before she let go of him. Her eyes didn't let waver from him even for a second while he looked for the first aid box.
Kyrell was quick. He returned within a minute and sat beside her while Sienna continued to observe him. Her gaze didn't bother him. Her silence didn't unnerve him.
He focused all his attention on her injured palm. Kyrell felt terrible when he saw how deep the cut was. Yet, he showed no reaction and cleaned her wound before he covered it with cotton and gauze.
Not once did Sienna react. She didn't even gasp when he treated her wounds. Her eyes were fixed on Kyrell as she stared at him silently.
Once he was done, Kyrell returned with a clean, wet towel and wiped her face, focusing on her eyes before cleaning her injured palm.
"The shareholders meeting will start soon. Do you want to attend it?" he asked, maintaining his gaze on her, and Sienna slowly returned to herself. She broke out of her trance and blinked a few times.
Although she wasn't embarrassed to have shown her vulnerable side to Kyrell, she still felt sheepish, especially when she saw how close they were.
Scooting away from him, she cleared her throat awkwardly. Biting her lip, she thought about his question and was about to shake her head when Kyrell interrupted.
"Miss Lawrence, if you don't attend the meeting today, it will only serve to show them that you are weak. It'll be a perfect opportunity for your enemies who are waiting for you to fall into a pit. Do you want to see them succeed? Do you want them to win?"
Kyrell's tone was filled with disapproval and he looked at her unimpressed. "You are Sienna Lawrence. You know the truth better than anyone else. Do you want to accept defeat without even putting up a fight?"
And that did it. His words rekindled the fire in her that had been extinguished after watching the news.
Sienna's gaze was filled with a fiery spirit, and it was stronger than before.
Glancing at her injured palm, she smiled sardonically. "They can come with any tricks, any foul play. But they'll never defeat me. I'll never allow them to."
Kyrell nodded, flashing a smile of appreciation. "Good. Miss Lawrence, you may want to clean up a bit. The meeting with the shareholders is about to begin."
He stood up and turned to leave, only to stop when she held his hand.
Sienna sucked in a deep as she raised her eyes to look at him. "Thank you so much for whatever you did. I owe you this time."
Kyrell smiled at her before his eyes twinkled in mischief. "Miss Lawrence, if you're really thankful, sign the employment contract with me and appoint me as your security. I'll take it as you showing your gratitude."
Sienna let out a chuckle and shook her head. "We'll talk about it after the meeting."
"I'll be waiting then."
Kyrell winked at her before he left the room while Sienna waited until he was gone before she entered her bathroom to freshen up.
