CHAPTER 53: I AM NOW A MARRIED MAN, SO PLEASE STAY AWAY!

Without giving Madam Meyer a chance to say anything, Logan looked at Anna, who was trembling, probably with anger, her face contorted. All that grace was nowhere to be found.

He said to her, "I am a married man, so please stay away from me and stop making people assume that there is a thing between us. I don't want my wife or family to misunderstand because of you." His tone was very cold. It sent shivers down Anna's spine.

'It's over!' Anna broke down when she was pointed at by Logan.

Even if she was a fool, she could tell that the target from the start was all for her. They had come prepared and took her by surprise.

Now everyone was laughing at her. She had been poked where it hurt the most and stopped herself from acting out.

Now her true face was known. How could she continue being here?

The more she thought about the issue, the more frustrated and betrayed she felt.

She didn't dare get angry at Logan. After all, he was someone that she couldn't even fight in a battle but Alice. What did she do to her for her to watch languidly as she got embarrassed like that?

Finding no face to be in the hall, she glanced at Logan one last time before picking up her dress and dashed out of the hall without looking back, ignoring the snarling comments from the guests making fun of her.

Today it was her, but who knows about tomorrow?

Madam Hilary looked at the back of her daughter fleeing and then the gloating eyes of the Meyers, and felt indignant.

She had been caught unaware, and in her moment of weakness; she exposed her true nature.

She couldn't continue being here. It won't do her any good.

She harrumphed at Madam Meyer and then glared coldly at the grandkids, who were gloating at her misfortune and hated them and their vixen mother even more.

With a grunt, she picked up her bag and left the hall with her head held high.

No matter what, she wasn't going to leave the place with her tail tucked between her legs.

Besides, just because she and her daughter had lost face today, that didn't mean that they had lost the battle.

It's never too late for a gentleman to get revenge.

And one day, she was going to make the Meyers pay for the humiliation that she and her daughter went through.

She just hoped that her baby was okay.

She regretted it too later, after slapping her.

Anna wouldn't hate her, right?

The worried mother became more worried and made haste.

Meanwhile, in the hall, Logan smiled at the guests remaining and apologetically said to them, "I am sorry for the chaos. I hope that it won't affect your wonderful time at the banquet today. May you all be fine and enjoy yourself.

And since my wife isn't here, I won't be taking the first dance. It's reserved for her. That is why I will leave this chance to my parents. I wish them well and for giving birth and bringing me into this world, I will be eternally grateful, always," and said affectionately as he looked at his parents looking at him fondly as well.

The guests, hearing that, knew what was meant without much being said.

Whatever happened remains in the hall and mustn't be spread, at least in the battle of words. As for the wife part, that should be spread as far as possible.

After all, they all could recall when Logan icily warned Anna to stay away from him lest his family misunderstood.

It wasn't just about Anna, but all the ladies were interested in him as well.

If the Meyers could ruin the banquet by stripping Anna and her mother's faces, disregarding the relationship between them, then what about them?

Love and greediness for money and positions shouldn't be worth the risk of losing it all.

After all, a melon forced off the vine won't be sweet.

Madam Meyer rose to her feet, smiling at her son and nodded at him before saying, "We will do as my son says. Let us all enjoy. We have so much prepared for this day. Don't let the earlier commotion affect you. We just wanted to cut the bud before it sprouts. We can't have problems in the future, can we?"

Since the matriarch said that, what could the guests say?

Show their unwillingness?

They didn't dare.

They could only hum and agree.

Bertha, seeing everything unfolding, was finally at ease.

'At least, my friend didn't waste her youth on your family for nothing!' she was satisfied with the ruthless method the Meyer used on Anna.

She should have punched her a bit more when she had the chance.

She regretted being softhearted.

 ***

With the threats made, and the mood uplifted, it didn't take long before Anna and her mother were kicked out of everyone's mind for that moment.

There was nice music and nice food, and the ambience was great.

What was more important was that those who were clever knew how to make things go in their favor.

As a result, there were a lot of people congratulating the Meyers about the marriage. Even the kids weren't spared as well.

However, everyone could see one thing throughout the whole banquet. Whoever Logan married, both the adults and the young ones loved her.

And whoever that person might be, she was a force not to be reckoned with.

They all couldn't help but wonder just who exactly was she.

And since she has health issues, could it be that she was pregnant already?

People's minds were hard to comprehend at times, but who cares about such kinds of thoughts?

As long as their thinking was in Logan's favor, then everything will be fine.

When they think of humiliating or bullying Briar in the future, they would think about Anna and her mother's incident.

Besides, the Meyers weren't done with the Hilary's just yet.

This was just the beginning and more was to come.

But would they be ready for it?
