Not once had he ever thought that there could be anything worse than death, but today, he was experiencing it.
Pain!
It was an unheard of pain!
His eyes bulged like saucers. It looked as if they would explode with a pop in any moment. He felt many strong throbbing sensations in his head as if there were countless hearts beating fiercely, trying to keep him from going straight to heaven.
His vision was blurry, and he could see faint figures of Cui Rong, Chi Huo, and the rest, but he could not hear what they were trying to say to him. It appeared as though the rest of his senses had been numbed, and all he could feel was that throbbing in his head.
Li Tian and Si Niang held Bai Ming tightly to prevent him from rolling further. At this moment, the surface where he was rolling was covered in blood, which looked as if it would rot anytime soon. They didn't forget to avoid the poisonous blood that had plagued them along their journey.
Feeling the force coming from the kicking Bai Ming, Li Tian and Si Niang looked at Zi Yan as if to ask for some assistance. In that moment, Bai Ming suddenly stopped rolling. In fact, his whole body stopped, then in the next moment, shook as if he had come back to life. Taking in a deep breath, he started panting with some heavy gasps.
The others were confused by this, but they did not say anything and allowed him to regain his breath. It seemed whilst he was rolling, he had at some point stopped breathing, and only now was he able to take in a bit of air.
Inside his mind, the figure let out a loud chuckle, looking at Bai Ming's miserable state.
"Well then, have you... reconsidered?" , the figure said slowly in an unrushed manner as if the answer was obvious.
Hearing this question, Bai Ming suddenly remembered that before Dao Gu had vanished, he had vaguely mentioned something about temptation.
Looking at it this way, everything seemed to make sense. The so-called trial had already begun.
Was this what that senior meant?
In this moment , he was to choose whether to follow this master.
No!
He immediately rejected this thought.
At least, this was one way to interpret what the senior Dao Gu had said before he left, but now, after experiencing that pain, he was now sure that such a thought was naive.
Choice?
After this painful experience, he now realised the severity of refusing this. Although he was confident that Dao Gu seemed superior to this visitor, he wasn't confident whether this deity would come to his aid.
If he really took a gamble and Dao Gu did not act, then he would be consigned to eternal damnation.
With this thought, it seemed clear enough.
No choice.
In his mind, he bent his body, and his knees touched what seemed to be the ground. Hishands also did the same. Although it pained him, he still kow towed to this unknown entity.
He had not forgotten what his overall goal was. He had to leave this mountain and see his mother again. What only mattered to him was survival.
The figure read these thoughts and didn't mind this. Some sort of motivation wasn't the least bit important. All that mattered was that Bai Ming had agreed.
"Henceforth, you will be my first disciple, tread the path to iimmortality, andyour Daoist name shall be Mo Tian"
Daoist Mo Tian???
Although Bai Ming was confused by such a name but he still kept this thought to himself. He had already decided that if this master of his wwants, hewwouldtell him.
Feeling satisfied with the new ddisciple, thefigure made a waving mmotion, andBai Ming's mmind, whichseemed to be in cchaos, calmed
Bai Ming felt this familiar formless breeze blow through his mind. The traces of turmoil vanished completely. Looking at it, this was the same as what Dao Gu had once ddid, butit seemed to be slightly weaker.
The figure saw no ripples or thoughts in Bai Ming's mind and felt even more sure and expectant.
Just as the mind ccalmed, BaiMing felt a pain more intense than before. This time he tried to bear it but on the outside the people gathered around him felt they had given him enough time to catch his breath and were about to ask him what he had encountered when Bai Ming's face suddenly flashed red.
He started sweating profusely.
The figure in his mind chuckled and simply retreated from his mind, leaving behind a seal of some sort. After the figure left his mind, the pain vvanished, andhis mind started to heal once more.
After regaining his breath, Bai Ming really wanted to curse at this master of hhis, buthe held himself back.
What kind of dog shit master was this?
Although he held himself back from saying such things, his mind did produce the thoughts. After such a thought, he was already prepared for some sort of punishment. Given the temperament of this master he was sure he would receive a harsh reckoning, but unexpectedly, nothing happened. Although he was a bit perplexed by this outcome, he was still okay with that. He didn't know the figure had already left his mind.
Meanwhile, right above the group, the figure floated quietly, unseen by the people below it.
"Sigh, I nearly killed my first disciple. The spirit of a mortal cannot bear the pressure that comes from a higher level lifeform. Although this is only a divine sense body, it is still not something a can bear. It seems I can only follow this lad from outside."
Although the figure had said this, it didn't feel sorry or show any sort of pained expression.
"But this is fine too. This will serve to quell any sort of rebellion that may arise."
The figure curled its lips.
Bai Ming's face darkened. He could understand his master's reason for the first punishment, but or the second treatment, he didn't even understand what that was for.
Wasn't this bullying others for no reason.
Did this master enjoy tormenting others so much?
Bai Ming felt like he had taken a glimpse of the far future. He became sure that the future would not be pleasant for him.
