All Bonds Shattered

"What bad news?" Evelyn asked, her voice barely a whisper.

She had struggled to look up at her stepmother even though pain surged through her as she did. The announcement of a bad news had her worried and curious.

"What happened to my dad?" She asked again as Victoria was taking time to reply to her.

Victoria's smirk grew bigger as she saw how worried and curious Evelyn was. She had even tried to sit up on the bed but couldn't so she kept looking up at Victoria from where she was lying.

"Your bitch of a mother happened to your father." Victoria stated, and scoffed.

"What do you mean?" Evelyn inquired.

"Well, I had my doubts. It was just your father--- I mean, my husband that got really surprised." Victoria stated casually.

"What are you talking about?" Evelyn asked, sounding impatient. She was still trying to sit up but wasn't having any luck.

"My husband has left you. He won't be coming back for you." Victoria informed Evelyn casually as if she was telling her how great the weather was.

Evelyn furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. She didn't understand what she just heard.

"Where is my phone? I need to call him." Evelyn mumbled to herself, using her hand to search the bed for her phone.

"I'm sure he won't pick your calls. Not when he now knows that he owes you nothing. Not when he knows that you are not his responsibility." Victoria snapped at her.

"Wh... What?" Evelyn stuttered.

"I would advise you to start looking for your biological father as you look for your child's father." Victoria told a very stunned Evelyn.

Evelyn's jaw dropped at Victoria's statement and her eyes widened.

"No wonder you also didn't know who was responsible for your pregnancy. Like mother like daughter." Victoria spat at Evelyn in disgust.

"My dad isn't my biological father?" Evelyn mumbled under her breath. Her voice was shaky and her lips trembled.

"How is that possible?" Evelyn wondered, shaking her head. Even that simple act of head shaking hurt her badly, but she kept at it. It was the only way she could express her disbelief at that moment.

"It is possible because your mother was a bloody liar, a manipulative bitch and a terrible wife. She probably got pregnant with you when she was fooling around with men outside of her marriage and lied to Robert." Victoria snapped at Evelyn.

"Anyway, Robert told me to tell you that he doesn't ever want to see you again. He said he has cut ties with you and you should not dare step a foot into his house again." Victoria relayed a message she wasn't sent by anybody to Evelyn, with a smirk on her face.

To Victoria, she was finally getting rid of who she had been struggling to get of, therefore she was victorious.

That message hit Evelyn like a physical blow and tears stung the corners of her eyes. She ignored the excruciating pain she was feeling and struggled to sit up on the bed.

"I need to see my dad.... I need to talk to him. He can't just cut me off from his life like this." Evelyn protested. Victoria burst into laughter.

"It seems you are having problem understanding simple words now. Wait, is that because you just gave birth? Has that affected your hearing? I said, he is not your father. And he doesn't want to see you anymore." Victoria spat at her.

Evelyn looked at Victoria and could see that her eyes were filled with joy as if she had just won a lottery. And for a moment, she allowed herself to focus on the woman who was mocking her and her situation, instead of focusing on her situation.

"You must be enjoying yourself..." Evelyn trailed off, gritting her teeth.

"You bet. Your misery gives me a kind of an indescribable joy." Victoria retorted.

"Have you forgotten my promise to you?" Victoria inquired, the sinister smirk was still playing on her cheeks. At her question, Evelyn allowed her brain to wander to that particular day when Victoria had firstly shown her, her true colors.

That was the second day she moved into Robert's house as the new wife, five years ago.

*FLASHBACK*

"I am your mother now." Victoria said to Evelyn, with a smile. The smile was overly bright and Evelyn could see how fake it was.

"No, you are not. You can't take the place of my mother. And I can beyond your fake smile. I know you don't like me." Evelyn had nailed the bull on the head. She wasn't good at beating around the bush.

Victoria threw back her head and let out a laugh. Suddenly she stopped laughing and pulled a straight face like she had not just laughed. A deep frown making its way onto her face.

"There we have it, your real face towards me." Evelyn pointed out and scoffed.

"I'm very pleased you are so smart. Now, I won't need to pretend to be happy when I am alone with you. Listen to me, young girl... I am here to take the place of your mother and you won't stop me." Victoria informed her, flatly. Evelyn raised her eyebrows.

"I am going to get everything that belonged to her and now that I know you are going to try to stop me, I will see to it that you leave this house for me." Victoria maintained firmly.

"I would like to see you try." Evelyn replied to her, standing her ground.

"You just dared me, little girl." Victoria said, her voice firm and sharp.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

"You won't ever be able to step a foot into that house again." Victoria told Evelyn and walked out of the ward.

"No, I need to talk to my dad." Evelyn stated and tried to stand from the bed but she fell to the ground, hitting her stomach on the floor.

In no time, she lost consciousness and blood started seeping out of her thighs.
