Chapter 201: A Heavenly Savior

The next day, after waking up in the tent, Ethan suddenly realized that Anne Hathaway was missing.

He walked out of the tent and saw her sitting on the beach, gazing up at the gradually brightening sky.

"Darling, how did you sleep last night?" Ethan sat down beside her. Anne Hathaway leaned against his shoulder with a smile and said, "Very well."

"That's good." Ethan nodded.

"Ethan, when do you think we should officially announce our relationship?"

Anne Hathaway suddenly brought up a fatal question.

Ethan's arm around her shoulder tightened involuntarily.

"Darling, I don't want to go public," he answered directly.

"Why?"

Anne Hathaway frowned, not understanding Ethan's hesitation.

"Because I don't want to put our relationship under the spotlight," Ethan explained. "I don't want reporters examining us with a magnifying glass. That would make me feel suffocated and uncomfortable."

"Hmm, you're right." Anne Hathaway nodded.

"Especially since we're both in Hollywood. You know how murky the waters here are—so many rumors, some true, some false, and it's impossible to distinguish between them." Ethan didn't state it outright, but Anne Hathaway understood what he meant.

"Alright, Ethan." She didn't press the issue further. Instead, she hugged Ethan and rested her head against his chest.

Where she couldn't see, Ethan quietly let out a breath of relief.

Half an hour later, after dropping Anne Hathaway off at her hotel, Ethan used the excuse of a business meeting to head to Jessica's hotel.

When Jessica saw him, she noticed he reeked of alcohol and quickly helped him inside.

"I'm fine, Jessica. Really." Ethan walked into the bathroom. "I'll just take a shower and change."

"Alright, let me help you."

Jessica thoughtfully helped Ethan change his clothes and called the hotel staff to have them washed. Once everything was settled, Ethan lay down on the bed.

"Darling, why did you drink so much last night?" Jessica leaned against his chest affectionately.

"They said I arrived too late and made me drink as punishment." Ethan rubbed his temples. Seeing this, Jessica immediately massaged them for him.

"Then you should just stay in today."

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. But I have to go out tonight—I have a movie project to discuss." Ethan also wanted to avoid being seen by the other two women, so he agreed to Jessica's suggestion.

"You're so busy, Ethan." Jessica ran her hand over his chest muscles and pressed her ear against his chest to listen to his heartbeat.

They spent the entire day in the room together.

In the evening, after dinner, Ethan went to the underground parking lot to change his clothes before heading out to meet Avril.

"Baby, I have to go back to Los Angeles today. Sorry." He carried his suitcase.

"So soon? I really wish we could find a place to travel alone for a month." Avril pouted, reluctant but without complaints.

"Yeah, I wish we could travel peacefully too, but there's too much work at the company. When are you going back to New York?" Ethan asked casually.

"I'm heading back the day after tomorrow, but my agent said there's an awards ceremony I need to attend soon."

Ethan kissed Avril on the cheek. "Good luck."

"You too." Avril, unwilling to be outdone, kissed him back.

Ethan drove the two of them to the roadside, and they indulged in some passionate moments in the car.

Just then, Avril suddenly saw someone walking nearby and instinctively called out, "Anne Hathaway!"

"What?" Ethan's heart skipped a heavy beat.

"It's the actress from The Princess Diaries. I love her! I'd recognize her even if she's wearing sunglasses." Avril was about to roll down the window to say hello, but Ethan stopped her.

"Hey, baby, don't do that."

"Hmm? Why not?" Avril looked at Ethan in confusion.

"If she's wearing sunglasses here, it means she doesn't want to be disturbed. What if she's meeting her boyfriend? If you call out to her, reporters might notice her, and that wouldn't be good." Ethan explained.

"But this is Italy, not America."

"But it's the film festival right now. Reporters are everywhere." Ethan hugged her. "Besides, I'm about to leave. Shouldn't you spend all your time on me instead?"

"…" Avril stared at Ethan, unblinking.

Three seconds later, she suddenly smiled. "You're right! Ethan, you're so thoughtful."

With that, they resumed kissing.

Outside the car, Anne Hathaway, who happened to be passing by, also noticed the flashy sports car. The tinted windows prevented her from seeing who was inside.

But she shrugged and muttered to herself, "If it were Ethan, he would definitely choose the safest car."

Saying that, she shifted her gaze and continued toward the restaurant where she had arranged to meet her friends.

When Ethan and Avril arrived at the airport, Ethan handed her the car keys.

"Drive it to the airport when you're leaving. Someone will come to retrieve it."

"Don't worry, I got it." Avril accompanied Ethan all the way to the security checkpoint before reluctantly leaving.

Ethan didn't rush through. He waited another twenty minutes until Avril texted him, saying she had returned to the hotel. Only then did he walk out of the airport.

"Ethan, over here." Jimmy and his Jeep had been waiting by the roadside.

"Back to the hotel." Ethan got in the car and changed back into the clothes Jessica had dressed him in.

"I swear, you're just like a secret agent!" This was the first time Jimmy had seen such meticulous preparation. It felt like a scene from a spy movie, where someone was sneaking classified information.

"Three women, Jimmy. This is necessary," Ethan said as he climbed into the front seat and straightened his collar.

"Now it's down to two women. So, Ethan, what's your plan?"

"Jessica has another week, and Anne Hathaway will leave only after the film festival ends." Ethan opened his phone and started deleting some messages.

"But are you planning to stay with Jessica one day and Anne the next? Won't they get suspicious?"

"Which is why I need a solid excuse…"

"Like what? I can't think of a single plausible one. You can't just pretend to be drunk every day—that's unrealistic."

"Relax, my savior is arriving soon."

"What?" Jimmy was puzzled. If it were him, he would have fled Venice entirely rather than hover around two women.

This was playing with fire. If either of them saw or suspected anything, he'd be facing a breakup.

Oh, of course, Jimmy thought that might actually be a good thing.

Maybe it would make his buddy finally settle down.

"Tomorrow at 2 PM, pick someone up at the airport for me," Ethan said without explaining further.

Jimmy grew even more curious. Who exactly was Ethan's so-called savior?

But the next day, when Jimmy arrived at the airport, he saw Ethan's "savior" and immediately clutched his head, exclaiming, "Oh my God!"

"Jimmy!" Camilla walked out of the airport with Ethan's two younger brothers. She was delighted to see him.

"Say 'big brother,'" Camilla patted the boys.

Regis and Louis nodded in unison and called out, "Big brother Jimmy!"

"Hey there, guys. I have to say, your timing is absolutely perfect." Jimmy finally understood why Ethan had been so confident that neither woman would question him.

With his mother and younger brothers in Venice, it was only natural that he wouldn't have time for them.

"Where's Ethan? Where is he?" Camilla looked completely different from the plain woman she once was. She now wore a light pink Prada blazer paired with a white Chanel blouse, and her skin was noticeably better.

Ethan had been sending money home every month, ensuring they lacked nothing.

And with the fame of Fifty Shades of Grey, Camilla had become a well-known writer, frequently appearing in interviews and events, earning a significant income herself.

The confidence she now exuded was a stark contrast to her past struggles with credit card debt.

"Where's big brother?" Regis and Louis also looked around curiously, searching for Ethan.

In just over a year, the two had grown considerably taller and appeared more mature.

"Ethan is at the hotel. You'll see him soon," Jimmy said as he opened the car door for them.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at a hotel—not far from where Anne Hathaway and Jessica were staying, but on a different street.

Ethan was already waiting outside. The moment Regis and Louis stepped out of the car, they spotted him.

"Big brother!" They rushed over, each grabbing one of Ethan's arms.

"It's been a while, little guys!" Ethan ruffled their hair with a big grin.

Then, turning to Camilla, he said, "You're looking more and more beautiful, Camilla."

"Haha, I think so too. The women in the community say the same. Some have even started pursuing me." Camilla had long moved past her old hardships and was much more cheerful now.

"That's great to hear. But be careful with your choices."

"Don't worry, your mother isn't naive. I've seen enough of people's true faces over the years."

They chatted and laughed as they entered the suite.

The presidential suite had three bedrooms, allowing Regis and Louis to sleep separately instead of squeezing into one bed.

This arrangement also ensured they got proper rest instead of staying up all night playing.

After settling everything, Ethan sent photos to both Anne Hathaway and Jessica—pictures of him with his family.

Yes, he had already told them that his mother had arrived in Venice.

Now, both women were extremely anxious.

Especially before Camilla arrived, Ethan had taken time to speak to each of them individually.

"Jessica, once my mother is settled in, I'd like you to meet her," Ethan said.

Jessica was caught off guard. "So soon?"

"What's wrong? Don't you want to?" Ethan turned the conversation around, pulling her into his arms, his face close to hers. "Why do I feel like my sweetheart's face is getting hot?"

"No!" Jessica denied, then whispered, "What does your mother like?"

"She likes all sorts of things. Oh, I remember her mentioning she loves hair accessories."

"Alright, I'll go buy a gift."

"Sounds good. I'll book a private room for us." Ethan chuckled. "Just don't be this shy when the time comes."

"I won't!"

"Haha." Ethan let go of her and reassured, "Relax, my mother won't make things difficult for you. It's just a simple meeting."

"Really?" Hearing this, Jessica finally calmed down a little.

Compared to her, Anne Hathaway was much steadier. She had met Camilla before while taking care of Ethan.

But this was the first official meeting, and she was still nervous.

"Ethan, how about this outfit?" Anne opened her suitcase, trying to pick the right clothes.

"You don't have to stress, sweetheart. You look good in anything." Ethan watched as she kept changing outfits. "And you don't need to buy Camilla a gift—she doesn't need anything now."

"No, Ethan, I must. What does she like?"

"She's been wearing suits a lot lately. Maybe get her a blouse?"

"That's it, then." Anne decided to visit a boutique that evening.

Ethan walked over and stopped her from changing again. "Don't overthink this. It's just a normal meeting. Nothing will happen."

"Really? That's a relief." Anne sighed.

"Of course. Camilla has a great temper. Trust me."

"So this is how you use your own mother?"

While Regis and Louis played in another room, Camilla sat with Ethan.

When she learned that he had invited her to Venice for this, she was exasperated.

"Oh God, if your father knew what you were doing, he'd be furious."

"Or maybe he'd say I've got potential." Ethan smirked.

Looking at the amused expression on her son's face, Camilla sighed and spread her hands.

"I'm now absolutely certain you're the biggest troublemaker of the family. I thought you'd change after college."

"Old habits die hard." Ethan responded with a Chinese proverb.

"I know that saying." Camilla also knew some Chinese.

"So, what do I have to do?" She thought for a moment before ultimately deciding to go along with it.

"But let me be clear—I'll only treat them as your friends. If you ever plan to get married, you need to cut ties with the others." Camilla said firmly.

"Don't worry, I understand, Mom."

Ethan nodded seriously, though what he truly thought remained unknown.
