Chapter 202: Demon Be Gone

Jessica and Anne Hathaway met Camilla on the second and third nights, respectively.

As for the two younger brothers, they were having a blast at the amusement park under Jimmy's supervision.

"Hello." Jessica was rather reserved when she met Camilla, quite different from her usual self.

"Hello, Ethan often talks about you." Although Camilla had spoken firmly before, she still showed some fondness for Jessica when meeting her.

After all, the girl was beautiful and well-mannered.

Taking advantage of Jessica sitting down, Camilla shot a glare at Ethan, blaming him for always attracting such good girls.

Ethan shrugged and handed Camilla the gift from Jessica.

"This is something Jessica specifically bought for you."

"Oh my, this is too expensive." Camilla only needed one glance to tell that these hairpins cost at least a few hundred dollars.

"It's nothing, just a small meeting gift." Jessica maintained her sweet smile, and Ethan had no idea how long she had practiced it last night.

Once the three of them sat down at the table, Camilla and Jessica started chatting.

Their conversation revolved around typical women's topics—clothes, shoes, bags—as well as Ethan's embarrassing childhood moments.

For example, when he was a child, he once made homemade gunpowder and blew up an outhouse, covering his father in filth, which resulted in a severe beating when he got home.

Jessica was fascinated, occasionally glancing at Ethan as if to say she never expected him to be so mischievous.

Ethan had actually forgotten most of these incidents, only recalling them now through Camilla's retelling.

Even as the food was served, the two women's conversation continued to revolve around him.

Ethan considerately served them food and soup, occasionally interjecting with some witty remarks that made them burst into laughter.

It was a delightful dinner for all.

Later that evening, when Ethan took Jessica back to her hotel, she was still reminiscing about Camilla's words.

"Ethan, do you think I'll be like Camilla when I grow older? She's absolutely charming," Jessica asked longingly.

Ethan nodded. "You'll be even more charming, sweetheart."

"You really know how to flatter, Ethan." Jessica laughed. "So tonight, will you—"

"Sorry, I have to stay with Camilla. We haven't seen each other in a long time."

"I understand, Ethan. Go ahead. Spend time with Camilla. By the way, where are your brothers?"

Ethan thought to himself, Of course, I can't let them see you. Otherwise, they might slip up when meeting others.

"They're too noisy, so Camilla's friend took them out to play," Ethan said before kissing Jessica. "Get a good night's sleep. I'll come find you tomorrow."

"Okay."

Jessica obediently got out of the car, waved goodbye to Ethan, and left.

After watching her leave, Ethan headed to Anne Hathaway's room.

The next day, Anne Hathaway met Camilla.

This time, Camilla was even more relaxed. Since they had already been introduced before, there was no need for excessive formalities. They got straight to discussing Ethan's past.

And once again, the story of his childhood outhouse explosion was brought up.

Ethan felt like a pre-programmed NPC—pouring drinks, serving soup, passing dishes—even the menu was almost identical to the previous night.

According to Jimmy, Ethan was making his life more dramatic than a movie.

After dinner, Ethan took Anne Hathaway back to her hotel and then went to Jessica's room.

And so, he spent the next week smoothly managing his time. Shortly after the film festival began, he returned to New York.

"I'm exhausted..." Jimmy collapsed onto the couch, looking utterly drained. "You really should have taken your brothers out yourself! Those two are a nightmare!"

Then he turned to Ethan. "Luckily, I don't have a brother, and Lilina doesn't either. Sh*t! I'm definitely having a daughter in the future."

"Girls are indeed better than boys, but be careful they don't get tricked by bad men," Ethan warned.

"That advice should be for you, Ethan. You're the one who needs to be careful!"

"No… Jimmy." Ethan crossed his legs and said, "If I have a daughter, I'll teach her all the tricks of a player."

"Damn!" Jimmy smacked his lips. "That actually makes sense."

After all, no matter how much of a player someone was, they probably couldn't outplay Ethan.

"At least that's settled. What's next for you?"

"Me? Preparing for the filming of Fifty Shades of Grey," Ethan said, tapping the table. "The set is ready, and I'll be flying to Canada with the crew tomorrow."

"Alright, I hope this movie is a big hit."

"It will be."

Toronto, Canada. Ethan arrived at noon.

Some crew members had already been setting up at the rented location.

The two leads, Aaron Tveit and Leighton Meester, had also arrived.

They were undergoing training—Aaron was learning body movements, as he played a noble CEO, while Leighton was working on her acting.

When Ethan reached the set, MGM producer David Clay approached him.

"Ethan, we have a bit of an issue with our location."

"What kind of issue?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"I initially rented it for a week, but now the owner is only willing to rent it for three days."

"Is it a price issue?" Ethan asked.

"No, it's because he hates this book and doesn't want to give us more time," David Clay explained, clearly frustrated.

They had intentionally kept the film's title a secret, but the building owner personally visited the site. Upon learning it was Fifty Shades of Grey, he immediately wanted to cancel the contract.

David managed to persuade him to reconsider, but their time was cut down to three days.

"Well, another devout believer, I see."

Ethan wasn't surprised by this. It was just another obstacle. Since time was limited, they had to shoot this scene as quickly as possible.

He called the department heads over, listened to their updates, and instructed them to speed up.

Then he went to check on the actors.

"How are they?" he asked the trainers, who gave hesitant responses.

"Alright, looks like this shoot will be a challenge," Ethan said, hands on his hips. "But no worries—with me here, we'll get through it. Have them get into makeup. We need to start early, guys."

The first scene was quickly set up. Aaron Tveit and Leighton Meester sat on a large bed, Aaron in a suit, Leighton in a dress, her hands tied to the bedpost with a leather belt. She tilted her head back, locking eyes with Aaron.

The plot of Fifty Shades of Grey was simple: an inexperienced college girl, Anastasia Steele, met a 27-year-old "rich and handsome" Christian Grey and fell for him at first sight.

After they started dating, Anastasia discovered Grey's hidden hobby—BDSM.

Madly in love, she couldn't refuse and began trying it out, gradually becoming addicted to the experience. Through both physical pain and deep emotional sharing, they uncovered each other's inner secrets.

Eventually, love brought them together.

That was the entire plot. No foreshadowing, no deep themes—so straightforward it almost felt too plain.

Even their names were ridiculously long, reminiscent of absurdly dramatic romance novels.

But women loved it, and it was profitable.

Of course, Ethan made some adjustments. The female lead's arc now shifted from passive to active, giving the story a feminist touch.

At least, it had a little more substance now.

This scene was about the power struggle between the two leads—Leighton's character shifting from resistance to desire, and Aaron's from control to submission.

Ethan expected it to be difficult to film, but their performance was so bad it infuriated him.

"Cut!" he shouted, grabbing the mic. "F**k! Aaron, what the hell are you doing? Are you brushing a cat? Your movements are too soft! This isn't playtime!"

"And Leighton, why the hell are you moaning like that? Are you in pain? This is supposed to be pleasure! Do I need to bring a candle for you?"

"You two are awful! Again!"

Aaron and Leighton had been warned about Ethan's temper, but this was their first time experiencing it firsthand, leaving them flustered.

The crew quickly comforted them, and they adjusted their performance.

"Cut!"

"If you can't do this, get out!" Ethan roared. "Aaron, you sound like a castrated dog! Where's your intensity? You're in an SM scene, not playing with mud!"

"Leighton, hold back your pain! This isn't assault—it's supposed to be painful and pleasurable! Get it?"

The two actors, shaken, tried again.

But Ethan still wasn't satisfied.

After being berated, the two actors became even more cautious. With the assistant director's help, they adjusted their performance before resuming filming.

But even though they thought they had taken care of the details, Ethan was still dissatisfied.

He directly pulled them off the bed and brought them in front of the monitor to watch their playback.

"Look at your weak, lifeless movements, and listen to that duck-like voice! Now, the entire crew will stop and wait for you to adjust your state. If you can't do it, then we'll wait all day until you get it right!"

After throwing down this harsh statement, Ethan sat in the director's chair and closed his eyes to rest, leaving Aaron Tveit and Leighton Meester to be watched by everyone.

"Darling, come on, let's adjust our state again." The assistant director came over, leading them back to the bed to explain the scene.

Under the immense psychological pressure Ethan had created, the two of them studied the script while feeling somewhat dejected.

Leighton Meester even ended up crying out of grievance.

But Ethan remained completely indifferent. It was the other crew members who stepped forward to comfort them.

"Don't take it to heart. Ethan is just like this. As long as you follow his instructions, you'll definitely get through."

"Yeah, we get yelled at all the time. We're used to it."

"He's like a devil on set, but at least he's generous and shoots quickly."

The crew joked, and Leighton Meester wiped away her tears. "Really?"

"Of course. Don't worry, as long as you meet his standards, he's the easiest director to talk to."

"I'll do my best."

Aaron Tveit, who was listening on the side, asked, "Has Ethan always been like this?"

"Uh, yeah, though today he's a bit more irritable than usual."

"Is he... I mean, could he be possessed by something bad?"

The crew was surprised by his words. "How could that be? He just has a bad temper. Oh, and he has some kind of condition—I forgot the name—that makes him unable to control his words when he's angry."

"But doesn't that sound even more like being possessed by a demon?"

"I don't know, maybe. Either way, it doesn't stop him from directing."

Aaron Tveit didn't say anything more, just looked toward Ethan with an increasingly serious expression.

Twenty minutes later, filming resumed.

This time, they finally found the right way to perform. Ethan watched the scene and nodded, approving the take.

For the next two days, they continued filming inside the building. Everyone was like a tightly wound spring, with no time to think about anything else.

Every day was either filming, eating, or sleeping.

Although Leighton Meester and Alan Tveit were still the ones getting scolded the most, Leighton had grown stronger through the experience and no longer cried so easily.

Aaron Tveit, on the other hand, had become much quieter, and the way he looked at Ethan grew more serious.

By the third night, after finishing the last shot, Ethan called out, "Cut! Great, we're wrapped for this location."

Everyone immediately breathed a sigh of relief, their tense nerves finally relaxing.

"We'll take a break for a day."

As soon as Ethan announced the rest day, the crew cheered excitedly.

Except for Aaron, whose expression remained serious as he stared at Ethan, as if secretly making a decision.

A day later, the crew resumed filming.

The new location was a massive estate, which served as the male lead's home.

The scenes shot here were also the most explicit in the entire film.

Early in the morning, Ethan stood in the room, giving instructions to the crew. "Add another light on the left—no, no, raise it higher, or the shadows will cover the actor's face."

"Where did that potted plant come from? Get rid of it!"

"I said by the bed! Not against the wall! Are you deaf?"

The actors sat to the side, waiting and going over their scripts. Leighton Meester was about to talk to Aaron Tveit about the upcoming scenes when she noticed him sneaking toward Ethan from behind.

"Aaron?" Lieghton Meester found it strange, not knowing what he was trying to do.

But Aaron Tveit only gave her a look before reaching into his jacket.

The moment he pulled something out, Tom, who had been diligently guarding the door, immediately sensed something was wrong and rushed forward!

But he was too far away—Aaron Tveit had already taken out a small glass bottle and hurled it toward Ethan!

He could only shout, "Ethan, dodge!"

At the same time, Aaron also yelled, "Demon! Be gone!"

"Bang!" The next second, he was tackled hard to the ground by Tom.

The mysterious glass bottle shattered upon hitting the floor.
