Using the fame of blockbuster movies to produce adult films and attract attention is nothing new.
Just like how Japanese studios later adapted classic anime into adult films with specific codes, as long as the actors wore costumes similar to those in the original movies, many people would find it hard to resist.
However, this was the first time Lucid Body had received such treatment, so Ethan had someone find the film and quickly skimmed through it.
It was a very rough production, just as he expected—neither the cinematography nor the actors had any aesthetic appeal.
It was nothing more than a third-rate film featuring actresses with large breasts and curvy figures, diving straight into action without much buildup.
Even within the adult film industry, it wouldn't rank high.
And this wasn't the only production of its kind. In the United States, the adult film industry was a well-developed business, with numerous studios operating daily in San Fernando Valley.
If Ethan hadn't gotten the opportunity to direct music videos, he might have returned to his old profession and directed a few of these films himself.
Ultimately, a company is like a big tree—once it flourishes, countless parasites will latch onto it, feeding off its resources.
For Norton's Eye, however, these were trivial matters. The most important thing at the moment was still the post-production of Lucy:Final Curtain War.
Spring passed into summer, summer faded into autumn.
After half a year, Lucy:Final Curtain War was finally completed.
Ethan was sitting in the company's screening room with producers, investors, and distribution partners, watching the film together.
For a full three hours, and when the end credits rolled, the investors and distributors erupted into applause.
"A spectacular film!"
"Absolutely thrilling! I believe this movie's box office will break new records."
"Yes! Especially the ending—I already want to see the fourth installment."
Once their praises subsided, Ethan tapped the table. "Alright, let's set a release date."
"No problem, Ethan. Just name the date you want, and we'll secure it for you," the distributor said with a smile. "I doubt other studios would want to compete with a beast like this."
After some discussions, they finalized a specific release date. With that, the distributors left the company first.
Ethan then turned to the investor representative, Loren Salazar. "Since we have this opportunity, let's talk about investing in the next movie."
"A new movie?" Loren was surprised. "Is Lucy 4 already in the works?"
"No," Ethan shook his head. "I'm talking about an entirely new film, unrelated to Lucy"
Loren immediately realized what Ethan was referring to, and his excitement turned into a frown. "Is it an art film?"
"No, a crime film," Ethan clarified. "A story about crime between Black and White characters."
"Oh…" Loren let out a breath, his brows relaxing.
If it was a crime movie, then the box office should be secure.
He trusted Ethan's talent and appeal, but as an investor, his job was to ensure profitability—not necessarily huge profits, but at least to avoid losses.
Of course, even if Ethan really wanted to make an art film, Loren would persuade the investors to approve it. They had worked together for so long that one movie wouldn't ruin their partnership.
Besides, Ethan had proven to be one of the rare directors who could make both artistic and commercially successful films.
So Loren quickly asked about the casting.
"For the White lead, I want Matt Damon. For the Black lead, Will Smith. Female leads will be Scarlett Johansson and Halle Berry."
"Wow, that's an all-star lineup," Loren said, calculating their salaries in his head. "This film won't be cheap to produce."
Then he asked, "Where do you plan to shoot?"
"In New York."
"Alright," Loren said, taking out his phone. "Let me make a call."
Ethan gestured for him to go ahead. "Be my guest."
Loren stepped out, and five minutes later, he returned. "We can provide a $100 million investment."
He hadn't even seen the script—just hearing the cast and genre was enough for the investors to greenlight the funding.
This showed that Ethan's reputation had become an industry consensus—everyone trusted that his films would sell.
"Deal," Ethan agreed without negotiating for more.
Loren raised an eyebrow. "That's not like you, Ethan. When we negotiated funding for Lucy, you went through three rounds before settling on an amount."
Ethan stood up and shook his hand. "Then how about $150 million?"
Loren smirked. "Not my call."
"Hahaha, then forget it."
The truth was, Ethan planned to invest some of his own money this time—not just for a larger share of the profits, but also as a personal gamble.
He wanted to bet on his original script, believing it could succeed.
To make it more meaningful, he was putting some of his own money on the line.
"Well then, here's to a successful collaboration and a record-breaking box office!" Loren said, shaking Ethan's hand.
After finalizing the investment ratio and box office split, Ethan locked himself in his office to continue working on the script.
Meanwhile, Matt Damon and Halle Berry both received new film offers from their agents.
"Ethan?" Matt Damon was surprised when his agent handed him the offer. "Is this for real?"
"Absolutely," the agent confirmed. "Ethan personally sent this—he wants you as the lead. This is a great opportunity."
Matt Damon shrugged. "I'll have to see the script first—gotta make sure it's my type of story."
He was selective about his roles. If the story didn't move him, he wouldn't accept it just for the commercial value.
However, after reading the script's outline, he raised an eyebrow. "This story… it's powerful. It has… how should I put it? Impact."
"I like it. Let's go for it," he told his agent.
"Got it. I'll send them our confirmation."
Meanwhile, Halle Berry was on the set of the R-rated film Movie 43, filming a scene with Emma Stone.
After the director called "Cut," she walked to her chair and took a sip of water.
Her agent approached, handing her an envelope. "Halle, you should take a look at this new offer."
"Another movie? Ugh, I'm exhausted. I don't want to take on anything new right now."
"But it's from Ethan."
"What!" Halle Berry lost her composure, standing up with wide eyes.
She startled the people around her.
"Yes, it's an official invitation from Norton's Eye—for you to star in Ethan's new film."
"Oh! Then I have to do it. Come on, let's get back to my trailer and take a look!"
