Chapter 138: I need a favour

The word left the tip of my tongue as I looked at her with a puzzled expression resting on my face and my brows were knitted together to form a tiny frown.

"What are you –"

"I heard about what happened!" She shrieked, cutting me off before I could even finish my sentence. I watched as her gaze hardened and she clenched her jaw tightly, never once taking her eyes off me. "I can't believe you would do that," she sneered, the words that left her lips were dripping with accusation as she glared at me with narrowed eyes, a fiery blaze burning from within.

Realisation dawned upon me within the next second and it finally clicked inside my head. My own mother thought that I intentionally tried to injure Evelyn too. I couldn't stop the cold chuckle that escaped my lips. I lifted my head to look up at her, and our gazes matched. All I saw was nothing but rage and anger, not even a single ounce of concern for me even though I was injured too.
