"Retreat to reinforce the fortress!" The general of the remaining brigade shouted as he fought fearlessly to buy time for his soldiers.
They came to the battlefield in less than an hour ago with over 50,000 soldiers and now they were left with just a little more than 300 soldiers on the battlefield, retreating to save their life.
"Master, this a one sided massacre! We need to leave!" His first in command said as he fought side by side to protect his master whom he has served almost all his life!
"No Lionel, we can't! If we leave then they'll catch up to us faster and none of us will survive. You can go, I'll just buy enough time for the others to escape".
"No no. I'm not leaving you here General. It's either we survive this together or we die together!" Lionel said fearless as he channeled out the last strength left in him to his protect his master!
Declan looked at his faithful servant who has served him all his life and smiled before raising his hands. "For the clan!"
"For the clan"
Lionel shouted as he unleashed fury of attacks against the approaching enemies.
Declan jumped up in the air and and rained down spiked blades on the approaching army. They weren't fighting in a close combat and rather made use of long range attacks. The reason was simple, because they were outmatched with a million soldiers up against only the two of them. They made use of hit and ran tactics, hitting and weakening the enemy on the sides of their formation and taking out a great number of the small fries.
Of course, they weren't just fighting on one stance, they did this whiles retreating slowly.
"Isn't this amusing?" A man floating in the air behind the beast kin and human army, overlooking the battlefield said.
He looked like someone in his late twenties with black hair and purple eyes.
"Futile struggle! Even against my cannon fodders. Tsk! Humans are so weak". He said as if enjoying the scene infront of him.
"Ursus, don't you think what you have done so far is enough?". A man wearing a cloak of gold and emerald materialized beside him.
"Since he got cast out, he has had 355 lifetimes and you torment him in every lifetime until you take his life. I think it's enough, besides he isn't really the one you are angry with, is he?
"You're right Claw. He isn't but he was the outcome of that stupid you union and whom Elysia gave his remaining life to"
" She choose him and that dirty brat over me! And what did they do to her at the end? The killed her! And I won't rest until they pay 100 fold and over again! If he lives a billion times, I'll hunt him down a billion times". Ursus declared and raised his hand as the skies roar as if answering his call.
"Time to end this fass" he said as fire balls rained down on the battlefield, killing ally's and foes alike.
"Remember Ursus, only the Myriad clan" a beautiful woman who looked to be in er early twenties said.
Ursus didn't reply and gave her a thumbs up.
The soldiers who had already entered the fortress watched as fire rained down on the battlefield and set it both their remaining people and the enemies ablaze.
Screams of fear, pain, and regret echoed through the battlefield as the beasts and humans scattered looking for a way to escape their predicament.
"Master, behind you!" Lionel shouted as he jumped to shield his master from a fire ball that was falling straight in his direction.
He created a crystal dome and shield the two of them. A few seconds later, an explosion shook the battlefield, as the shockwave blew away anything within 70 meter radius.
As the smoke receded, a half burned Lionel lay on the floor half dead, holding onto a tiny string of life.
The spell he used is called The almight. It channels the all of the wielders strength and energy left in his body to unleash one powerful and deadly attack or defense depending on the wielders choice.
After that, the wielder will be drained of all the energy in his body, unable to even lift a finger.
This ability was strong enough to defend a fireball from a god but unfortunately, the attack the god of Furhaven unleashed was powered by 30 percent of his strength to kill Declan once and for all, making Lionel's defense loose to the fireball .
"Lionel! no! no!, stay with me! What would I tell your wife? Your newly born son Lionel, they're waiting for you at home" Declan held Lionel in an embrace as tears fell down his face.
"Mas..ter" Lionel struggled to speak.
"You know….you always told me to call you my friend but I bever did. I always wanted a special moment to to mention that word" Lionel said with a smile and a mouth full of blood.
"And I can't believe that special moment chose to come when death kno…knocked on my door"
"No Lionel, you're not dying. We will leave this place alive" Declan said while holding him gently.
"Tell my family, I love them more than they can imagine, and I'll always be with them".
"And you my friend, it's been a pleasure serving you. Until we meet again" Lionel said with a smile as he breathed his final breath.
"Lionel, Noooooooo!!!" Declan screamed as he cried like a baby while holding onto the body of Lionel.
"Hahaha! 355 times. I've seen that scene 355 time but yet, I enjoy it all over again everytime it happens"
"I guess my heart hates you more than I think" Ursus said as he hovered above Declan.
"Yo…you?!!" Declan asked in surprise.
"You're the guy in my dreams. What do you want? Did you do this? Answer me! Did you cause all these disaster? Why?!" Declan shouted in anger as his aura burst.
"Oh my, Oh my! You poor thing. You always forget until I remind you. Okay here" Ursus said as he waved his finger an Declan fell into a trance.
Scenes of the past thousands of years unfolded infront of him as he watched himself die over and over and over again.
Some he died as a teenager and some he died in his early twenties just like he was about to, and some he died as an adult at different ages. But one thing stood out: anytime he died it was a painful death and a heart ache just like now, he has lost his best friend and his purple has been massacred and turned to ashes.
All the memories of the past came back running like flood.
He forcefully broke out of the trance because he couldn't take the pain anymore.
"Oh, that's a new one. How did you do it? Looks like you're growing but I wouldn't allow that, will I?" Ursus asked as Declan broke out of the trance.
"Now, let's focus on your death shall we?"
Ursus landed infront of Declan and and summoned an black frozen sword.
"Remember how the 354th felt like? Let's see how your final one will feel like" Ursus raised Declan high in the air and pierced his heart 353 times. What surprised him was that, after 354, Declan still held on looking at him with unforgiving eyes.
"Die you bastard!" Ursus said as he channeled his death power into the sword and pierced Declan's heart one final time, ending his life.
Just as he was about to crush his soul, someone forcefully took out Declan's soul and vanished without a trace.
Ursus and Claw extended their senses and swept the entire world of Verdantia but they couldn't find anything which only meant one thing. Only a god could forcefully take out a soul from another world.
"No matter where you go, I'll hunt you down" Ursus said angrily as he held onto Declan's consciousness as long as he could and rained down fire balls on his family, friends and people. He wanted him to feel pain even after escaping.
"Enough Ursus, let's go" Claw held Ursus' shoulder in a firm grip and signaled the remaining soldiers to take care of the aftermath of the battle.
The once Myriad clan that stood tall and proud was now burnt down to ashes.

Somewhere in the divine sanctuary of the gods...….
"So that was how you got here. Should I proceed with my offer?" A man in a dark purple silk said. He looked like he was just in his early twenties but he was far older than that.
"Yes" Declan replied.
