We walked on in silence for a while, both of us reluctant to pull away from the other. He may not remember me in his mind, but he still remembered me.
At the base of the lighthouse, I finally let Siu Fung go so that he could find his key and I took a moment to look more carefully at the lighthouse.
It was a solid looking building and the paint on it was white and clean like it had been painted not too long ago yet there was something strange about the building, something about the way the edges seemed to slightly warp in the air like a mirage then snap back into focus when I looked at them directly. My guess was that this lighthouse was imagined up by Aron and based entirely on the image from the postcard and not a real place, hence the oddness.
There was a heavy click and a low whine as Siu Fung opened the front door of the lighthouse. It was dark inside.
