I have no idea how to take this, Lachlan thinks. His training as a security guard didn't cover it, nor did it cover how to deal with running into a hot guy from a past he's trying to hide from, or avoid alien conspiracies when they come knocking.

I jumped and spun around… and found Siu Fung standing right behind me.

I dropped to the ground with a sigh and a tired laugh. Siu Fung, dropped with me, seemingly worried at my reaction. "Are you okay?" he asked, putting a hand on my shoulder.

I waved. "I'm fine," I said, though I didn't push his hand away. "I just didn't hear you come up."

"Ohh… Okay." He rose then offered me a hand. I took it.

Siu Fung nodded with a smile. "Woke up. When I saw you were gone, I thought…" An odd look crossed his face but it was gone as soon as it appeared. "I thought maybe you'd gone for a walk. You can't sleep either?"

"No, I can't sleep," I said. "I mean, I cannot actually sleep. I don't need it since I'm… not entirely human." I was curious and a little worried as to what Siu Fung's reaction would be.

"Oh okay," he replied. "I wish I didn't have to sleep, then I wouldn't have nightmares."
