With time, she found out actually how nice Stacy was and they became real friends well best friends. They attended the same school since they were kids, preschool, highschool, and also medical school together.
They were somewhat inseparable and were always there for each other. Vivian was really thankful to have such a nice and wonderful friend as Stacy who always stood by her side since they first met, her difficult moments, when she lost her mother Stacy was always there for her.
"Oh shit" Vivian cursed as she heard her phone buzz inside her pocket. It must be Grace and she must have called to inform her that the professor was already there. She quickly shut her locker and left the room immediately.
She walked fast towards the floor where they were to meet the professor for a brief lecture that morning. After she got there, she entered through the back door so as not to get any attention and sat at the back where they were empty seats. The front were already occupied by the rest of the students.
If only Stacy was here, she could have gotten for me a space at the front. She said to herself with a sigh. Since they were little they would get seat for each other whenever they go to school depending on who arrives first but now they were in medical school it wasn't the same anymore.
They studied different courses in medical school. Vivian studied medicine and surgery while her best friend Stacy studied medical laboratory science.
"Thank you all and I would like each and everyone of you to go meet his or her mentor and start the day's work." He said as everyone started to walk out of the lecture hall .
Vivian walked down the stairs and walked up to the professor who had just taught them.
"Good morning professor Campbell" she greeted her mentor with a smile.
"How are you doing dear?" He asked her.
"I'm doing great"
"You should be and I would wish if you tried to be punctual to classes. You can't afford to loose a patient if you are always late" he advised his mentee.
"I'm really sorry, it wouldn't happen again" she assured like always. Ever since she was little she had this habit of never being punctual to class or any activity outside school.
"Apologizing to me won't solve it all. Your actions should prove that you are really sorry" he said as he handed her his journal to carry and she walked out with him.
" I'll keep that in mind" she said disappointed at herself once again.
He didn't say much again as they walked towards a ward to attend to some patients.
They got to the first patient who was a little girl with leukemia. She was really young and beautiful but life just isn't nice to everyone, Vivian would say to herself whenever she was attending to a patient.
"Hi Doctor" the little girl greeted.
"Hey dear, how was your night Sarah?" He asked her with a smile and she nodded saying it was nice.
"Good morning Doctors" her mother who just walked into the ward walked up to them and greeted them.
"How are you ma'am" he asked.
"We're doing great" she replied with a sad smile. It was obvious that this sickness of her little baby troubled her so much.
"That's very good to hear from you both"professor Campbell said as he picked up her folder which was just at the edge of her bed.
"How are you feeling Miss Sarah" he asked her.
"I'm okay but started to feel pains right here" she complained as she touched her stomach.
"And when was that?"
"Last night, I found it difficult to fall asleep" she said.
"Did you complain to any of the nurses on duty?" He asked as he scribbled something on the folder.
"Yes, a nurse gave me a shot last night which made the pain go away" the little girl answered as she played with her big brown teddy bear.
"I can see that," he said as he read what the nurse wrote the previous night. She had given her some painkillers.
"You'll be fine now, it's just because of the surgery but soon it would all go away" he assured as he turned to Vivian.
He told her to go and get something which would be given to the little girl.
"Alright" she answered and left to meet the nurses where she met and collect the drug.
As she got back, professor Campbell took the syringe from the tray she carried and after putting a liquid substance in it. He gave her a shot after which she rested and they both left to see the other patients that morning.
