Father and Daughter

He was in pain, his heart hurt so much. All he could do was stand there and watch his beloved Layla suffer before his very eyes.

He inhaled and exhaled several times as he stood under the cold shower.

He needed to get that thought out of his mind if not, he won't be able to sleep tonight. He stood under the cold shower for about thirty minutes until he started to feel cold.

He walked out of his bathroom and into his bedroom putting on a black bathrobe and his hair looked messy.

" I need a drink" he said to himself as he picked up his phone and called for Lydia to get him a strong alcohol. Lydia who was worried about him had no other option but to obey, she didn't want to loose her job. She had tried in the past to stop him from his drinking habits but he never listened instead it became worse for the past three years.

The death of his wife Layla was something he could never forget, he had tried to but he couldn't and he would always put the blame on himself for not protecting her. He was the one who had made her to loose her life, he was the one who made his little girl loose her mother even before she was born.

"Here you go, Sir" She said as she dropped it on one of the stools at the balcony of his room. Jareth just nodded , he had his back facing her.

She then turned and left the room in other to give him some privacy. As soon as she walked out he turned and poured himself a cup which he drank at once and another.

As he drank he had his hand leaning on the varender, the door to his room opened and his little wendy walked in crying, she had her fingers on her eyes.

"Hey, hey honey" he dropped the glass cup on the stool and walked towards her in a hurry. The fact that his little Angel was crying hurt him in the heart.

" What's going on sweetheart?" He asked as he carried her in his arms.

"Why are you crying?" He asked and sat on the bed. He then wiped her tears with the back of his palm.

She had just woken up and turned around on the bed and she could not find Lydia who was in bed with her before she slept.

"I'm scared" she replied and sniffled.

"Oh darling. You don't have to be. I got you, okay?" He consoled her and she nodded.

"Can I stay with you tonight?" She asked and Jareth nodded instantly. Anything as far as his sweetheart doesn't feel sad.

"Of course darling you can. Why don't we get on the bed now it's quite late" he said and she nodded.

He then carried her and lay on the bed comfortably before he joined her. Wendy came closer and he wrapped his arms around her.

"Would you like me to sing you a song?" He asked and his daughter laughed lightly.

"Why are you laughing?" He asked.

"Because Daddy can't sing"

"You sure?" She nodded.

"Well you're wrong" he decided to prove her wrong. He wasn't good at singing but he wanted to try his best.

"Alright, let's see what you have Daddy"

"Here I come baby" he then cleared his throat and started to sing. It was really awful in the ear.

Wendy who was all ears laughed as soon as she heard her Dad sing.

"Come on, Don't laugh at Dad. You're hurting me" he was now sulking.

"You really are a bad singer" she said with a pout and he smiled and pecked her nose

"I'll work on that, I promise" he assured her and she nodded.

"How about I read you something" he suggested and she shook her head.

"I'm kinda sleepy, why don't you read me one tomorrow night"

"Alright honey, I'll do just that. Now go to sleep" she then closed her eyes after which she drifted off to sleep.

Jareth smiled when he noticed she was finally asleep. He kissed her forehead and after a while he fell asleep too.

The room was quiet and was only heard by the breathing of the both father and daughter.
