Chapter 39

The sunlight awakened me. I automatically closed my eyes as I felt a splitting headache coming on. Maybe it was due to lack of sleep and the beer I drank.

"You're already awake..." I slowly opened my eyes upon hearing that voice.

"Did I give you permission to enter my room?" I asked Aunt Sabel before turning away. I hugged the large pillow and closed my eyes again.

"Well, Cace said you mi—."

"If you're worried about me not eating yet, I'll go down in a bit. I just need to—." I stopped speaking as I sniffed a strange smell from my pillow. Without hesitation, I sniffed it again. My eyes widened in shock.

"What's wrong, Dalha?"

I furrowed my brow as I faced Aunt Sabel. I couldn't help blinking rapidly. "Uh, nothing..."

She smiled gently before nodding. "Alright, go down soon, the food is almost ready." She glanced at the pillow, causing me to nod silently.
