The Bank

After waiting for Sabastian to finish setting up his new identity Virgil began training how to use his skills.

Even though he has never done something close to this the skill learner and the knowledge given to him by the books allowed him to finally activate the barrier skill after twenty minutes of practicing.

"I finally got it!" Virgil yelled excitedly looking at the blue bubble that surrounded his body

{I did not expect you to get it that fast maybe you have a natural affinity for magic} Sabastian said surprised

"Really. But there was no magic on earth so how would that work?" Virgil asked

{Well someone does not have to be in contact with mana for them to be able to use it easily. For someone who has a large affinity with mana can use it as if they were breathing. While someone who could use it their whole life would struggle} Sabastian replied

"I see so it's completely different for each person,"

{No it's more like a soul has the ability to absorb and control mana like it's second nature. So if I had to guess your connection with mana is once in a billion souls and that's me trying to go a little lower}

[A/N: Thank you to those who commented I took inspiration from what you said]

With that he continued practicing slowly he began to figure out how the skill worked. As time went on the barrier would drain one mana every second and the initial activation would use ten mana.

He tried testing the other skills and learned that shock used twenty mana each use and when he collected mana it could gain 10 mana every second.

"Hmm, good to know. Are you done setting up everything?" Virgil asked

{Yes. A new name, new childhood, school. Everything needed to make you not stick out was made}

"Okay, what do you say,"

{Born to two young parents who gave you up for adoption you were bounced around from foster home to foster home until dropping out of school and becoming homeless}

"Okay, why that story?" Virgil asked hearing his 'background'

{Because this makes it so that you have no connection with anyone while explaining why you don't have a job record or anything of the sort}

"And what about the money you placed in my bank account,"

{The remaining will left by your parents before they passed away in a car accident two years ago}

"I see well thank you Sabastian. What bank is my name under?" Virgil asked

{Just follow my directions I will take you. It's a small bank} Sabastian replied

The next moment blue arrows appeared before Virgil like a guide.

"Woah nice. But can people see this or you?" Virgil asked

{No, only you can see me} Sabastian replied

Satisfied with that answer Virgil followed the the blue arrows. Since it would be his first time in the streets of Gotham he activated his barrier which also could not be seen by normal people;

As he walked done the street Virgil could not help but be on edge the only things he saw were drug dealers, gangs, the homeless, and prostitutes around the city. Even though he acted normal he still gained the attention of the remaining people out.

(Damn maybe I shouldn't have worn the robe) Virgil thought

{That would have been better but the protection will defend against small things like knives}

(In Gotham I guess that's worth it) Virgil sighed turning the corner

After finishing a ten-minute walk Virgil arrived in front of a small bank with a warehouse nearby.

Walking inside the bank was empty except for two portions one old man and a young woman holding his hand and one bank teller and older woman.

When they realized he was there they all stared at him for a few moments before continuing talking about things.

Getting on line Virgil left some room between the two before him and waited.

(Hey Sabastian how much money did you put in my account?) Virgil asked

{I placed $5000 to help you}

(Thank you that will be plenty) Virgil replied

While waiting in line Virgil slowly became impatient as the old man and the teller were talking and laughing. But seeing as how he was already bringing attention to himself by how he dressed he decided to keep quiet.

Since he had time and his barrier disappeared Virgil decided to charge up his mana core until it was full to pass the time.

Once he was halfway done he heard the door swing open with extreme force. Looking to his side he saw a group of six men all in masks with duffle bags already filled with cash standing there out of breath.

(You got to be fucking me another robbery) Virgil said pissed off

Activating his barrier he waited to see what they would do. As he expected they held their guns up and told all of us to get down.

Seeing this the bank teller and the young woman screamed in fear before dropping to the floor. But the old man could not move well and could only look at the robbers.

"Are you deaf old man I said to get the fuck down," one robber said holding a pistol to the old man's head

"Wait please don't his bones are weak he can't move well!!" the young woman begged with teary eyes

"Yeah, I don't give a shit. All of you empty your pockets," another robber said pointing his gun at me

"Look we will give you our stuff you don't have to shoot anyone," Virgil said trying to calm the situation down

"Who do think you are? Shut up and empty your pockets," the robber said walking closer

"You know what that coat of yours looks expensive take it off," the robber said reaching his hand out

To his surprise, before his hand could reach his robe it was topped by an invisible force.

"What the hell?" the man asked confused

"What's wrong?" another robber asked

"This guy I can't touch him. Something keeps stopping my hand," the Robber replied feeling around my barrier

"Just fucking shoot him and take it the cops will find this place soon," another replied with a sigh

Pointing his gun at Virgil man pulled the trigger. As a loud bang echoed through the bank Virgil felt the carrier become weakened but from what he could tell it coudl take a few more shots.

With surprise, the robbers watched as the bullet was stopped in mid-air and fell to the floor.

"What the fuck?!" the robber said in fear
