Sea of Regret

Samuel's conversation with Nathan had not gone well. He knew he had not been the best husband in the past four years and had not even been a friend to Kaitlin. He never imagined that he had missed so much of what was happening in his home. Samuel needed the information Devon was going to get him yesterday.

"How long will it take you to get me the information?" Samuel said into his phone as he send Devon the message.

"I am on my way back with the information now." Devon sent back the message.

Samuel couldn't do anything but wait. While he was waiting in the living room, his sister walked in laughing with someone on the phone. As soon as she saw Samuel on the couch, she cleared her throat. "I will call you later. My brother is here, and I need to talk to him," she said as she hung up her phone. Hey, Samuel, how are you?"

Samuel got up from his position on the couch and stood in front of Laura, "What the hell were you thinking picking and bulling Kaitlin this last four years?" Samuel asked, trying to control his temper.

Laura swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. "What are you talking about? I have never bullied Kaitlin. She is lying to you; she is trying to separate us," Laura said, trying to look as fragile and alone as Kaitlin had felt in the last four years.

"Cut the fucken bullshit," Samuel said turning around, "You are telling me that you didn't tell Kaitlin to get out of my house and that I wanted a divorce."

"Yes, Celia texted me to let me know that you two were together and that the only thing standing between you and her being together was the fact that Kaitlin didn't want to give you a divorce." Laura said, "So as the good sister that I am, I made sure that she would give you the divorce."

"Why didn't you fucken asked me first before making life-changing desitions without out my knowing," Samuel question Laura.

Laura got a bit scared; she had never seen Samuel mad at the level he was at the moment. "When I found out you went on a business trip for a couple of days, and right after you left, Celia texted me letting me know you were with her. I couldn't wait until she decided that she wanted to divorce you," Laura said as she took two steps back from Samuel.

Samuel was about to take Laura's head off. The moment Devon walked in, Samuel looked from Laura to Devon and back again, "Your credit card will be taken away, and you will have to make due with what you get for your monthly spending," Samuel said, looking at Laura to ensure she understood.

Laura couldn't believe Samuel had just cut her off from getting any spending money. "Yo..." Laura was going to say something when Samuel interrupted her.

Samuel cut her off, "I do not want to hear another word from you." Samuel said, Laura was restringing herself from speaking, "If you say another word, I will make sure you don't get your money for the next three months.

"Well fuck you too big brother," Laura said as she turned around and left.

"What did you find out? Samuel said turning to Devon.

Devon pulled out the tablet where he had stored the information he had collected. "Here you're, sir," Devon said. "The information you asked me to verify is all confirmed. The messages do come from Miss. Celia's phone and none of those messages have been tampered with."

Samuel looked through the PowerPoint slides on the tablet until he got to picture where Kaitlin and Laura appeared. One after the other, it was Laura pushing or hurting Kaitlin in some way, and from the looks of it, Kaitlin never was the first one to initiate this altercation. "Has this been happening for the past four years?" Samuel asked, taring his eyesight from the table and looking at Devon.

"Yes, sir, if you keep going, there are two admission records where Miss. Kaitlin had to go to the hospital to be checked out." Devon said.

Samuel kept moving through the slides until he came up on the picture of an ultrasound. "Tell me about this one," Samuel said.

"Miss. Kaitlin went to the doctor; it was confirmed that she is pregnant. After we left on the business trip, there have not been any admissions under Miss. Kaitlin's name at any hospital," Devon said, from what he had seen in the last four years Mr. St. James had feeling for Miss. Kaitlin but hid them deep; he was infatuated with Miss. Celia, but that was only because she would bring up the fact that they have known each other since they were children and how Samuel and Nathan would protect her from the people that wanted to bully her.

"You may go Devon. I will see you tomorrow in the office," Samuel said dismissing him.

Devon cleared his voice, "While I was at the office, I went through some of the papers, and I came across these," Devon said, handing the papers over to Samuel.

Samuel took the envelope and turned it around. The address looked familiar, but he couldn't place it. He opened the envelope and the color drained from his face. "Did you see what these were?" Samuel asked Devon who was waiting.

"No, sir," Devon responded. "The address is Hasley company."

Samuel looked back at the papers and started to go through them. So far from what he saw, Kaitlin didn't ask for anything, and she had signed the papers. Samuel took a seat and handed the papers over to Devon. "Get with the lawyers and have them look into this. See how legit it is." Samuel said closing his eyes.

"I will get right on that, sir," Devon said.

Samuel was left alone once again in his home, alone like he always claimed he wanted to be, but knowing he was alone, we wanted someone next to him. As he closed his eyes and laid his head on the couch, he saw a clear image of Kaitlin smiling as he entered the door after work.
