Atlas and Michael made their way further down the road, eventually reaching a large building that gave off an ominous aura.
"Um, I don't think we should go inside... it feels creepy"
Atlas absent-mindly nodded his head.
'This aura is obviously due to the apocalypse... given the fact that we have systems... is this a dungeon? A trial of sorts?' "A boss battle maybe?"
He accidentally spoke the last few words on his mind.
"B-b-boss battle? Like in games?"
Michael got even more worried.
"Now I definitely think we shouldn't be here"
Atlas looked at him and said. "Alright, let's go back."
"Anyways, why do they call you cinnamon roll?"
Michael looked taken aback.
"Uhm, I don't actually know what it means"
"Oh really now"
Atlas and Michael started walking back.
'It's best he doesn't know'
...
"Hey cinnamon roll, where's Atlas?"
"Huh?"
Michael turned around, only to see that Atlas was missing.
'Hu-huh!? He was here just a moment ago! Or was I day dreaming again?'
They all gathered around Michael.
"U-umm, I don't know..."
The rest looked at each other.
"Well... if he left then maybe he had some urgent work"
'Oh yeah, maybe he went to that place!"
"Yeah yeah, makes sense! Let's just go and hunt some more goblins"
"Yeah, I wonder what these points do. And this status is really weird too, kinda feels like one of those games"
Michael tried telling the rest his thoughts.
"Uh-uhm guys! I think I kno-"
"Oh yeah! Cinnamon roll still has yet to show us his comabt skills!"
"Yeah yeah! Let's go with him in the front! Yeah yeah!!"
He would succeed eventually.
...
"Damn, this really is creepy"
Atlas was following a 'trail' of ominous vibes along the road.
"It leads to... there?"
He saw a figure standing on top of a clearing that was hidden by rubble and debris of broken buildings.
Atlas focused his senses and gaze on the individual.
"It's... a man.. no... its Justin?"
He could vaguely hear faint words.
"With this... power... killing.... haha!"
'Yeah no, something isn't right'
He started stealthily walking towards Justin.
"Now all I need to do is bring them here and -Ding!"
Crack*
Atlas lost his footing as a notification assaulted his face.
'Why now of all tines!?'
He brushed it aside, but as it was fading he processed the words.
[1 hour left for Item Attribute infusion]
"Who's there!"
Justin roared.
'Might as well play with this'
Atlas got put and asked nonchalantly.
"So, we're you also planning on this? Man, I thought I was the only one"
"Huh?"
Justin looked genuinely confused, yet he was still wary of Atlas.
"Like I mean come on? Why else would I come here to meet you? Because we're on the same side obviously!"
Justin looked at his suspiciously, narrowing his eyes.
"Then why were you hiding over there?"
Pointing at the spot where he lost his footing.
'Come one brain, bullshit faster!'
Atlas smiled amicably, while moving his body to around to distract the wary Justin.
"Oh did you really think I was sure that you were with me? I had to make sure, since you coincidentally happened to be here I tried my odds. Guess I was right huh?"
Justin growled.
"I heard liars talk more than normal. Must be why your spitting essays with your mouth"
Atlas cautiously came closer.
"If I didn't explain myself properly, you still would've been suspicious wouldn't you have?"
"Anyways, I have a way to prove myself!"
He dramatically moved around.
"See that there? That's where the rest of the thing is! It follows a vague path from here till 7 minutes ahead!"
Justin was taken aback.
'That should be the entrance of the... no, that can't be! I was supposed to be the only one under him!'
Atlas, noticing his expression, continued.
"No worries, for I was assigned a different task. You may continue on yours and we can part ways here!"
'Everything he said so far makes sense... but why do I get this feeling that something isn't right!'
Justin raised his hand up and spoke up.
"Stop. Tell me what you recieves from 'Him'"
Atlas stopped, his back facing Justin giving off a mysterious vibe.
"Oh really? You want to know? Alright then. But I need to get away to show it"
'Show what now? I dont know who he is talking about! Nor did I get anything from the guy!'
Justin replied firmly.
"Either you come here right now"
His tone became as deadly as-
"Or you taste some metal"
His gun.
Justin pointed a pistol at Atlas' back.
'Why does he have that!? I thought Ragnar only gave them blades!'
His knife was no use right now. His gun too far away. No cover to hide behind.
Fuck.
Atlas slowly turned sound and sighed.
"Damn your suspicious of me..."
He slowly walked over to Justin, attempting to maneuver his hands over to his gun inconspicuously.
'No, that won't work. He's on full alert'
He knew his own capabilities. He couldn't quick draw and fire before Justin could simply pull a trigger.
He eventually reached Justin, only being metres apart.
"Now, what do you want me to show you?"
Justin got annoyed.
"You know what I want to see!"
Atlas smiled mockingly.
"No, no I don't"
Justin's face quickly turned red.
"Urgh! I want to see a skill! The mark! Anything! Or I'll kill you right now right here!"
Atlas was taken aback.
'Whoever 'He' is can even give out skills huh'
Atlas took a step back and put on a wry smile.
"Oh, sorry. I took the jokes top far"
He opened his palm and looked at Justin.
"Here is my skill"
"..."
After a few seconds of nothing Justin was about to open his mouth but immediately a blur hit him across the face.
"Ahh, fuck!"
Justin attempted to regain balance, but Atlas continued with a series of punches and kicks.
"Take this chicken face!"
Atlas ended his combo with a judo flip, throwing Justin on the floor.
'That should knock him out. Can't kill him yet, interrogating would be more useful'
"Heh, and I'll take this with me"
He bent down to pick up the gun, proud of his skills.
But as he was getting up he heard a faint whisper.
"You let your guard down..."
Justin rolled away as the ground beneath Atlas dissapeared.
"Fuck... You!"
Atlas took aim as he was falling, shooting at Justin as he fell.
He smirked-
"Heh... headshot"
-as he dissapeared into the darkness below.
