6: Foundations

Before reading this chapter, be warned that there will be some timeskips to shed light on Soren's childhood in the events leading to the Season 1 Pilot. Hence why this chapter is titled "Foundations." Enjoy!

=====|×|=====

For the last ten years, Soren has been living as a normal child in the small town of Lawrence, Kansas. There had been nothing too supernatural going on during that time and he was extremely glad.

Ten years ago, he had been forcefully placed into his human vessel—though it seemed to be a newborn infant at the time—and adopted by an elderly couple who couldn't conceive due to age. Fortunately, it seemed to be close by Zach's house that his human self had spawned.

Despite not being able to watch over Zach in his Seraphim true form, it did hurt his heart a bit to hear Zach call out for him when it came time for him to play outside. After a few months of receiving no response from his Kitty, Zach seemed to close himself off a tad more.

Six years ago, Soren was now old enough to play outside with some supervision. He gladly began to play with his toys that his adoptive parents had gotten for him and this made his mother take more pictures of her cute son. It was also during this time that Soren noticed the then nine year old Zach Levin across the street.

He looked a bit depressed despite carrying so much joy for a nine year old child, but Soren only chalked it up to near when children begin going through puberty.

Unbeknownst to Soren, there was something else on Zach's mind than anything else.

It was also during this time that Soren recalled that Dean would be born in two years' time. From the show's canon, he recalled that ir would be within nine months of Dean's birth that their future children will fight against Anna to stop her from killing their parents.

Unfortunately, that would have to be dealt with by his future self as he was unable to do anything for the moment.

Four years ago, Dean was born without complications. Much to the relief of Soren, this meant that the canon timeline was still in play. He now figured that Azazel was coming to collect on his deal in four years' time and the series prologue would end with Mary's death. Considering he was only six years old at the time and couldn't do much at that age, Soren had no choice but to wait more and go to school.

As fortune had it, his parents wanted to enroll him in school when he turned five so that he could get a head start on his studies. This turned out to be very good thinking on their part as he hardly recalled his school years during the last twenty-six years.

What with that whole survive or die period his last life ended on.

On Zach's side, he turned eleven before Soren's sixth birthday. Already going through school and learning things kids his age should, he began to notice the slow changes brought upon by puberty. Luckily, things wouldn't get more problematic for him until he was closer to eighteen years old.

Around six months ago, another important character in the series was born to the Winchesters: Sam. Soren had heard about it from Dean himself after becoming friends when Dean was three years old. While he knew that Dean won't remember him in his later years when his father took the boys to look for Azazel, he still smiled at his friend.

Zach, however, was getting jealous. Despite his fifteenth birthday coming up, he was hoping to spend that with Soren.

He did not know why at the time, but it took him a long time to put the pieces together. Soren was his Kitty from when he was only five years old just from the odd coincidence that Soren's birthday was November 3rd—the day he never saw his Kitty again.

There was one other clue that gave Zach what he needed to figure it out and that just so happened to be this general "aura" of a special soul. It was exactly what he felt with his Kitty back then and that was what Soren felt to him.

Now, on November 2nd, Soren stayed up and a bit away from the Winchester house to bear witness to the most infamous event of the series along with what made the Winchester boys into Hunters: the death of Mary Winchester at the hands of Azazel.

November 2nd, 1983 – Nighttime

The fire began to burn in that nursery. John screamed out in pain as he witnessed his wife burning in that fire and that woke up Dean. Despite waking up and thus being tasked by his father to carry his younger brother out to the front lawn, Dean was worried about what this meant.

John soon came out of the house as a man worried about his children and this marked the beginning of their start as Hunters.

Unaware by both Azazel and the Winchesters, Soren watched the blaze from nearby and stayed to keep watch even as firefighters and paramedics arrived on-scene. This made Soren angry at Azazel for hurting them and made him want to blast old Yellow-Eyes with two of the three Unforgivables once he gets his wand.

Zach Levin had not been idle this whole year. He could tell that there was something big happening this year that caught his precious Kitty's attention and when he noticed the ten year old sneak out of his parents' house, he quickly followed behind him.

Unlike his mischievous cat, he was better at hiding and spying.
