The Decision

ANNA'S VIEW-

Nestled in Drake's arms, I felt like I was on cloud nine. It was the most breath-taking moment. I waited for this for so long. His lips locked onto mine. My body became clay in his hands. He was a master-seducer. His tongue journeyed all the way to my neck. I moaned. I finally made my decision. "Yes, I will do it!" I agreed finally. "Are you sure about this?" He asked me.

"I am!" I blurted as the kisses intensified. "I need to know the truth, my love," he said. "Will you trust me?" I questioned him while his mouth made its way back to my lips, covering it and making me surrender to him.

He stopped to answer me, leaving my lips numb and aching for more. "I cannot answer you, my love. I am too turned on by your delicious body," he replied. "I can't resist you. I know it might cost me in the long run, but you are too hot and spicy for me to say no to you." He kissed my lips once more. "We need to talk about this further," I said.

"After I have you, my sexy siren," he growled.

"I can't deny temptation either. It has been way too long since we had each other. That's why when you stopped, I was disappointed," I moaned. "Well, you won't be disappointed tonight, my darling. I am going to make all your dreams come true."

He stripped me naked as he admired my body, and we made love. It was out of this world. It was far better than the weekend. I felt a connection that deepened, maybe because he was the father of my son.

The moment was perfect. We left all our troubles on ice for a while and enjoyed each other's company. It was fate that we found this comfy cabin that turned into a love nest. I didn't want morning to come. I wish that time stood still and we didn't need to go back to Devolonte's Peak. We both enjoyed the pleasure that came from our deep lovemaking. I loved his hard body on top of mine, dancing to a love song that we concocted in a heat of passion.

We rolled over, and we both were out of breath. "Your creamy skin and screaming hot body drive me crazy," he said as he raked his hands over my golden curls on my head. "I didn't know how much I needed your caresses, until now," he said. "The moment is more than perfect," I told him as I buried my head on his hard chest. "I love the sound of your breathing," I whispered in his ears. He was so wolflike. He was what I craved for since the minute I walked into the bar more than a year ago.

Our bodies next to each other and the candlelight reflected on us made everything romantic-out of a romance movie. "I don't want to leave."

I said to him. "I know, but we have to, but this won't end here," he promised me.

After an unforgettable night, it was back to reality. I awoke early only to find Drake sitting beside the bed shirtless. He raked his hands over his hair. I had to admit he looked hot. He had a serious look on his face. "Morning," I said. He looked over to me and gave me one of his devilish-charming smiles. "Morning, sleepy head."

"Hey, I was tired after last night," I defended lightheartedly.

"I know you were," he teased, with a gleam in his eye. His mood toned down a bit. "I don't know if there's any coffee in this place, being it abandoned and all," he said.

"It's okay; I can do without it," I said. "We should be heading off from here anyways, before the owner decides to show up," I suggested. "I don't know if there's anyone for miles, but you are right, we should get going."

I rose to my feet and went to see if there was running water. We were in luck, there was. The water was ice cold, but it had to do. "So what are we going to do when we get back to Develonte's Peak?" I had to ask him. "You will go back to your apartment," he shrugged. "I don't have a home there anymore. I don't know what happened to my apartment since you banished me."

"Your apartment is still in tact," he said. I was astounded. "How do you know?"

"Coz, I bought the building, and I ordered the super to take care of it," he said.

"Why did you do that?" I was confused. "Maybe I had an intuition that you would be back there someday, I don't know." He revealed it to me. "What if someone sees me come into town?" I was concerned that one of the committee members would tell Colonel James. "You must be discreet."

"I don't know, I am afraid that this plan won't work." I sounded pessimistic.

"It will work out and besides, no one knows that you will be in town. When we arrive in town, we will obviously go our separate ways. You will go to your apartment, make sure no one sees you."

"How do I prevent that?" I had no clue what to do. "Use a disguise or cover your face; I will have the super have your key under the mat."

"After that, how must I make contact with Colonel James?" I didn't know the whereabouts of Colonel James. He was a prominent man. He wasn't someone who you could get a hold of. He always had security around him, and it took forever to get an appointment to see him. Colonel James always came to me..

"That's a good question. I was coming to that before you interrupted me. I am going to arrange for a dress to be sent to your apartment anonymously. It will also have a mask. You will be attending a masquerade ball. The ball the committee throws annually after the fourth of July. You will be in disguise, and then you will dance with the Colonel and reveal yourself to him."

"How will you arrange for me to get in there? I know security is very tight, and it is impossible to be on the guest list." I had to know, because regular people like me never had the pleasure of going to any one of these high society events.

"Leave everything to me. I have my ways of getting things done. All you have to do is what I tell you to. Do you understand?"

"Loud and clear," I said. I had no energy left in me to argue with him. I prayed that Drake knew what he was doing. The last thing I wanted was to get caught.

It was a complex plan, and I had to believe that it would work. I needed to earn Drake's forgiveness, and if this was the way to do it, then I had to take that chance.

"I never went to something like that before," I said. "There's a first time for everything," Drake said.

"What if I slip and fall?" I asked him in panic mode. A frown formed on his face instantly.

"Just believe in yourself. You will be fine." He advised me.

I sucked in some air before agreeing with him. It was going to work out, I said to myself.

The deadline day arrived at last. It was the day of the much anticipated ball.

I couldn't believe I was here at the ball; now it's time to approach Colonel James.
