Selene’s POV
Lucian sat back on his heels, his face pale, and his eyes dark with a mixture of guilt and something deeper—something more vulnerable than I had ever seen in him. The tension in the room was thick and oppressive as if neither of us knew what to say next. There were too many unspoken words between us, too many emotions we had been avoiding.
“Why are you here?” His voice was rough, the question more of a statement than anything else.
“I… I was worried about you,” I admitted, my voice still shaky. “You’ve been gone so much lately, and when you come back, you’re hurt. I wanted to help.”
Lucian’s expression softened, the hardness in his eyes melting away as he looked at me. For a moment, he didn’t say anything, and I could feel the weight of everything that had been left unsaid between us hanging in the air.
