Selene’s POV
The room was filled with the loud pounding of my heartbeat, drowning out the noise of the recent turmoil. Lucian had just shifted back from his wolf form, his transformation quick and silent, showcasing his immense power. In an instant, his clothes seemed to materialize out of nowhere, his face set with determination.
He picked me up without a word, holding me firmly as I was too weak to resist. The drug still lingered in my system, but being in his arms made me feel safer, easing the cold fear that had settled deep within me.
Lucian moved quickly through the building, his steps confident and steady. Behind us, the noise of the guards getting closer grew louder—they were shouting and running, their equipment clanging. Yet Lucian’s supernatural speed kept us just out of their reach.
We were almost out when Lucian suddenly stopped. Blocking the exit was James, accompanied by his most trusted men. He had a smirk on his face, but his eyes were filled with spite.
