The sound of her voice reached me like a melody cutting through the heavy rain. I turned toward the entrance, my eyes scanning for her. And then I saw her. My Petal. My girl.
But what I saw made my blood boil with fury.
She stood there, completely drenched, the rain clinging to her like an uninvited guest. Her dress stuck to her body, highlighting every delicate curve I loved and cherished. She looked stunning—too stunning for my peace of mind. But that wasn’t the worst of it. No, what sent a fire raging through my veins was the boy standing near her, his eyes shamelessly drinking her in, like a predator eyeing his prey. It was as if he was undressing her with his gaze, his intentions clear in the way he looked at her. My fists clenched at my sides, my nails digging into my palms as I fought the overwhelming urge to rip him apart on the spot.
