Chapter 94: Second date

Chavu stared at the machines that were pumping out prepackaged wares at a breakneck speed. He touched the lace around his neck, sighing.

It was a white lace ribbon, tied in a bow at the back of his neck. It would have looked lovely on any woman, yet he found it unnerving that Marcellus would doll him up like that.

There was nothing he could do about it — now. He took comfort from the fact that the vampire wouldn't be able to bribe him with things anymore. Surely, he had just a million mana to his regen and no more? How long had he been gathering it for, Chavu wondered?

He felt a hand on his shoulder, and he turned to stare at the grinning vampire. He had a box in his hands. It was small and looked suspiciously like a ring's box.

Marcellus knelt before him wordlessly and opened the box. There was indeed a ring inside the box. Chavu touched the white-gold band. It would match the lace on his neck. It would cement Marcellus's place by Chavu's side.
