Chapter 115: Infighting Among Tools! A New World!
Foster did not explicitly state his intentions, but Chu Yang had already guessed the thoughts of the Hero Association's upper management.
They wanted to treat him as a tool for making money. How could they succeed without paying an appropriate price?
Chu Yang might freeload when it suited him, but letting others freeload off him? Absolutely not.
The directors faced only two options:
1. Agree to Chu Yang's conditions and collaborate happily.
2. Conceal Tornado's crushing defeat and pretend it never happened.
In the end, they chose the difficult latter option.
Keeping the news contained within the headquarters, preventing it from leaking out, required a tremendous amount of effort.
"These people are so greedy. No wonder the Hero Association goes downhill after this," Chu Yang remarked.
After sending Foster off, Chu Yang refocused his attention on his research. Uncovering the truth behind limiters was more important than anything else.
Foster, escorted out by the Armored Gorilla, looked utterly defeated, as though he had just lost his father.
The joy he felt before arriving had been shattered in an instant, leaving nothing but fragments of his shattered dreams of promotion and wealth.
Watching him leave, the Armored Gorilla couldn't help but sigh.
Chu Yang's rejection of the Hero Association's new contract meant that their relationship was unlikely to return to what it had been.
Although the fallout might not be evident in the short term, over time, various conflicts would inevitably arise.
Returning to the House of Evolution, the Armored Gorilla saw Chu Yang and Dr. Genus tinkering with a brand-new battle suit in the hall.
To be precise, it was half a suit—just the lower half.
"Who would wear only half a suit of armor?" the Armored Gorilla wondered, utterly confused.
"You're just in time, Gorilla. Go to the medical room and bring Mosquito Girl out. She should have recovered by now," Chu Yang instructed.
The Armored Gorilla suddenly understood.
Mosquito Girl, who had been struck by Saitama's punch, had not died; only her lower body had been destroyed.
When the Armored Gorilla brought her back from Z City, she was on the brink of death and had been kept in the medical room for emergency treatment ever since.
As the second test subject after Sonic successfully received lineage factor transplantation, Mosquito Girl was also Chu Yang's second highly anticipated "tool."
Since negotiations with the Hero Association had fallen through, Chu Yang would now have to collect monster corpses himself. Increasing his workforce was an urgent priority.
Until he found higher-quality materials, the Iron Legion could only serve as guards to enhance security at the base.
Mosquito Girl's unique trait was blood-sucking.
Before proceeding with her lineage factor transplantation, Chu Yang had fed her a small amount of his own blood.
With just a few drops, Mosquito Girl underwent a dramatic transformation. Not only did her injuries heal almost completely, but her overall appearance also changed significantly.
She looked more human, her frame becoming smaller and closer to that of a human woman.
Her once sharp and intimidating features softened into a more approachable, girl-next-door look.
However, her legs hadn't regenerated.
Chu Yang decided to modify her into a cyborg similar to Genos.
With her newfound vitality, the success rate of lineage factor transplantation would be much higher.
The Armored Gorilla wheeled Mosquito Girl into the hall. Her face was tense with nervousness.
Ever since she had consumed Chu Yang's blood, Mosquito Girl had been acutely aware of how terrifying this man was.
The boundless vitality he possessed was far beyond human—it was godlike.
"We'll first perform the cyborg modifications. Once you've adapted, we'll proceed with the next round of bloodline transplantation," Chu Yang said.
His calm tone sent a shiver through Mosquito Girl's entire being.
"Yes, Master…" she replied, her voice trembling.
Mosquito Girl felt suffocated in Chu Yang's presence, as if oppressed by an innate bloodline superiority. She kept her head down, too afraid to look at him directly.
Dr. Genus then escorted her to the operating room to begin the modification surgery.
Moments later, bloodcurdling screams erupted from the room.
"Aaaahhh!!!"
It sounded more like dismemberment than surgery.
Chu Yang turned to the Armored Gorilla. "Does Genus have a medical license?"
The Armored Gorilla regretfully shook his head.
This meant that Mosquito Girl was in for a harrowing ordeal.
Thankfully, monsters were far more resilient than humans. A little violence during surgery wasn't an issue as long as the results were effective.
After half a day, the screams gradually subsided.
No one knew whether the modifications had succeeded or if Mosquito Girl had passed out.
"She better not fail the first step," Chu Yang muttered, worried that his investment would go to waste.
Fortunately, Dr. Genus soon emerged with the newly modified Mosquito Girl.
Her lower body was now encased in a battle suit made from the durable skin of the Underground King and high-strength alloys.
The battle suit extended into an exoskeleton that protected her vital organs.
The suit's defense had already been tested and was impervious to attacks below dragon-level.
As for offense, the improved suit specialized in laser weaponry, comparable in power to Genos' incineration cannon.
Since it was only a partial suit, it couldn't carry many weapons. Chu Yang's primary goal was to enhance Mosquito Girl's mobility and prevent her from being easily defeated in close combat.
Mechanical modifications were merely the prelude. The real focus was the upcoming bloodline transplantation.
"Take her to the lab," Chu Yang instructed.
Standing before Mosquito Girl, he gently patted her shoulder. "Whether you survive will depend on your luck."
Those simple words filled Mosquito Girl with overwhelming fear.
She wanted to refuse, but Chu Yang's indifferent gaze made her unable to utter the words. Saying "no" would mean death.
"Don't worry, Master. I will do my best," she said through gritted teeth, forcing a smile.
Chu Yang nodded and entered the lab, placing two prepared test tubes into the instrument's slots.
Dr. Genus' expression changed. He walked over and whispered, "Master, the experiment has just begun. Simultaneously transplanting two lineage factors is far too risky."
"Sonic only received one," he added.
"That's exactly why we need more data in these early stages," Chu Yang replied.
Dr. Genus glanced sympathetically at Mosquito Girl but said no more.
Her hard-earned second chance at life seemed doomed to be snatched away again.
Completely unaware, Mosquito Girl hesitantly stepped into the chamber. As the door closed, an overwhelming sense of dread engulfed her.
She lay trembling, like a lamb awaiting slaughter.
Outside, the Armored Gorilla, having overheard Chu Yang and Genos' conversation, looked both sorrowful and fearful. Being a monster himself, he couldn't help but imagine his own potential fate.
"She won't die," Chu Yang suddenly said, breaking the silence.
Both Genus and the Armored Gorilla were stunned. When they looked at Chu Yang again, their expressions softened slightly.
Unlike with Sonic's transplantation, this procedure seemed much calmer.
There were no extreme temperatures, no deafening hums.
Breaking the limits during the first experiment appeared to have smoothed the process significantly.
The only downside was the agonizingly long wait.
The transplantation lasted the entire night and well into the next day.
At noon, under the strongest sunlight, the chamber doors finally opened.
Out stepped a human woman.
There were no visible monster traits.
The mosquito-like eyes and mouthparts that once adorned Mosquito Girl's head were completely gone.
From her upper body alone, she looked entirely human.
Mosquito Girl opened her eyes.
Her pupils were now a dark green, and the wings on her back had become nearly transparent, exuding vitality.
"How do you feel?" Chu Yang asked.
Mosquito Girl slowly felt the changes in her body, taking a deep breath before replying in an excited tone, "Better than ever."
Chu Yang nodded, satisfied.
The two test tubes had contained the lineage factors of Tornado and the Senju Clan.
By using Tornado's bloodline, Chu Yang hoped Mosquito Girl would gain psychic abilities. Even if she couldn't match Tornado's level, she could still be a formidable force with the help of her battle suit.
As for the Senju bloodline, Chu Yang believed that the pure vitality she had absorbed from his blood would interact with it, increasing the transplantation success rate and, at the very least, preserving her life.
This was why Chu Yang was confident she wouldn't die.
"Try using psychic powers," Chu Yang ordered.
Mosquito Girl focused her mind on the nearby table, attempting to manipulate the documents and tools upon it.
Both Genos and the Armored Gorilla watched anxiously.
After about twenty seconds, the papers began to stir, eventually floating gently into the air.
Under her control, the documents circled around the lab.
Chu Yang's face lit up with joy.
"Good. Now, try merging your spiritual and physical energy," he instructed.
Chu Yang then reintroduced the techniques he had taught Sonic.
However, Mosquito Girl struggled to grasp the concept. Compared to Sonic's natural talent, her understanding was painfully slow.
Chu Yang could only patiently give her more time.
Mosquito Girl diligently tried to condense chakra as instructed.
Three days passed without success.
"She only inherited psychic powers… Still, that's a decent result. It seems I was too greedy," Chu Yang mused.
"For now, it's clear that transplanting a single lineage factor offers the highest success rate."
He meticulously recorded the experimental data and discussed possible improvements with Dr. Genus.
Feeling Chu Yang's disappointment, Mosquito Girl was disheartened. To her, this man who had granted her a second life was nothing short of a god.
"Master, while I haven't sensed chakra, I did discover another power," Mosquito Girl said cautiously.
"Oh? Show me," Chu Yang said, his interest piqued.
"It may seem a bit improper. Please don't take offense," she warned before pursing her lips and making a sucking motion.
A faint green light emerged from Chu Yang's body and floated into her mouth.
After swallowing the light, Mosquito Girl licked her lips, her expression one of deep satisfaction.
Chu Yang noticed a slight but perceptible loss of vitality.
"She evolved her blood-sucking ability into life force absorption!"
"The Senju bloodline didn't fail but instead fused with her inherent ability, resulting in a mutation!"
"How fascinating! This opens up entirely new possibilities for the lineage factor technology!" Chu Yang exclaimed, delighted.
"You've performed outstandingly in this experiment. As a reward, I'll allow you to name yourself," he offered.
As a product of Genus' experiments, Mosquito Girl had only ever been known by her code name.
She never imagined she would have the chance to name herself one day.
"Master, could you name me instead?" she asked, looking at Chu Yang with hopeful eyes.
"Mia," Chu Yang said after a moment's thought.
"I love this name!"
Mia excitedly paced around the room, her steps much lighter than before.
Later in the evening, Sonic returned with the corpse of a Demon-level monster in tow.
Chu Yang asked him to spar with Mia to test her limits.
Hearing that Mia was also a subject of transplantation experiments, Sonic became intrigued.
Last time, during Tornado's attack, Sonic was away and missed the chance to fight a powerful esper. It had been a regret of his.
This time, he was especially eager.
Mia was equally enthusiastic, hoping to perform well in front of Chu Yang.
The duel took place in the same room where Saitama had battled the Carnage Kabuto.
The fight began.
Sonic struck first, using his incredible speed to close the distance, aiming to end the fight quickly with his expertise in close combat.
From his experience, Mia didn't seem suited for handling close-quarters combat.
This was indeed the case.
