Girls need privacy

Regina thought of everything she could do to wake Rosie from her deep sleep. Finally, she decided on making a phone call to disturb her sleep, only to get replied with an annoying robotic voice.

'The number you've dialled is currently switched off. Please try later'

Regina banged her head on the car hood and soon cried out in pain. She rubbed her forehead, cursing herself for acting like a stupid. How could she bang her head so hard when she couldn't tolerate even the slightest pain?

"Regina, what happened? Are you okay?" Regina suddenly heard Rosie's voice and almost jumped in horror. When did this sleepyhead wake up?

"Ah? Nothing. I'm alright" Regina mumbled, trying to control her eyes from tearing. She couldn't waste her time on crying now.

"Are you sure you are not hurt?" Rosie wasn't convinced and patted Regina's body from head to toe. She knew Regina was very very sensitive to pain. Even an ant's bite would hurt her like hell.

"Yes, I'm really fine" Regina said before she dragged Rosie towards a camping tent that was set up a little distance away.

Rosie was confused as she looked around. She thought Regina would bring her to a club or something, for them to party. But this location was a little desolate and looked totally opposite to a party environment.

Why would she bring her to a camping site to party?

There were two folding chairs near the tent. Regina made Rosie to occupy one chair before taking the other as she said "Now, let's enjoy the brightest of the brightest lights we have ever seen"

A few seconds later, a large amount of fireworks flew across the sky. They were dazzling so bright, Rosie thought she would go blind.

She left her mouth open in shock as she watched the lights fly in the sky.

She was feeling the adrenaline rush in her veins and her heart was thumping hard as she saw the golden sparkles come and go. There were some fireworks in the form of pink and red hearts, while others in various shapes like balloons and flowers. Those sparkles came in waves, one after another as if they were dancing in the night sky.

They looked so amazing. She thought she was watching the greatest fireworks display ever.

Only after five whole minutes, the sky regained its blackness.

"How was it?" Regina asked leaning towards Rosie. She had seen a lot of such fireworks shows many times. But when she heard that Rosie had never seen fireworks in real life, she wanted to prepare something for her.

Although this wasn't the best show she ever watched, it was all she could plan within a limited time.

Regina thought this was the least she could do for Rosie who always took care of her. When she was teased and bullied by others for her asian looks, Rosie was the only one to stand by her side.

Regina heard no answer even after a while and turned to look at Rosie, only to find her sob with tears streaming down her face.

"Rosie, what happened? Why are you crying?" Regina was baffled. Don't tell her she didn't like the fireworks.

Regina mentally slapped her head. She should have asked her before planning.

"It's because I'm so touched, I can't stop crying" Rosie said in between her sobs, before she picked up her rhythm in crying endlessly.

Rosie never felt this touched in her entire life. Her friend Regina was the best thing ever happened to her.

She now understood why she never had any interest in men.

She got such a sweet and kind friend like Regina, there's no place for a man in her heart. Anyway, all those damn men knew was to give a woman pain and heartbreak. She wouldn't want that.

"Don't cry. Don't cry. There... There" Regina comforted Rosie while hugging her.

After a whole minute, Regina couldn't take it anymore and said in impatience. "Can you stop crying, already? It's so uncomfortable for me to hug you like this. My back is hurting already"

"Oh..okay. okay..." Rosie wasn't surprised. She knew this fellow would always bring up some kind of pain as an excuse everytime she needed to do something hard.

What's so hard in comforting someone for a few minutes? Such a drama queen.

The duo spend the night chatting and watching dramas before they slept around 3AM.

Regina had a large collection of Asian dramas, it would easily take a couple of years to finish watching all the series.

Regina was sleeping peacefully in the tent while Rosie woke up to enjoy the sunrise.

She watched the sunrise while hearing the birds chirp around her. The sky lit up in shades of orange and red with the sun warming her. It felt so peaceful and serene, Rosie wondered how happy would her life be, if she could feel this kind of peace every morning.

"Regina, let's go back. I don't want Uncle Henry to worry about you" Rosie tapped on Regina's cheek trying to wake her up.

She knew Mr. Thompson was very protective of Regina. Although Regina was his neice, he looked after her like his precious daughter. He showered her with love and bought every little thing she wanted. She would not even get surprised if he came here just to pick them up. His care for Regina was limitless.

Regina was so groggy and still yawning. She didn't know if she could handle driving in her half sleeping state.

Seeing Regina scratch her head while yawning, Rosie chuckled. She took the car keys from Regina, before walking ahead.

"Hey, I don't want to reach home tomorrow morning" Regina yelled.

Rosie sucks at driving. A kid's bicycle moves faster than the car she drove.

Rosie glared at Regina and was about to knock her head when they heard a deep voice from behind.

"No worries. I'm here"

Just as Rosie thought, Mr. Henry Thompson really came to take them back. His looks and attire said everything. He must have set up his tent somewhere nearby.

Regina sighed in helplessness. Her uncle was just a worrywart. She only told him about her plans to surprise Rosie. But he somehow took the privilege to camp nearby.

Sometimes, girls need their privacy. How could he be this inconsiderate?

The girls soon packed up under Henry's guidance and hit the road, enjoying the early morning breeze. When they were almost at the bottom of the hills, they noticed a woman's body on the road side.

The girls were so scared and thought of leaving immediately. But their conscience said otherwise.

Henry called for emergency service while the girls got down to check up on the woman.

Regina felt nauseous as soon as she saw the woman's condition. She looked like her body was drained out of blood. Her skin was paper white with her veins popped up. Also, her neck had several prominent bloody red marks.

Regina thought some wild insects must have attacked the woman and she died because of the poison.

On the other end, Rosie almost fell down in shock. The woman before her was the same one she saw in the restaurant yesterday. The one with whom Francis was flirting.

How did she end up like this in a single night?

Henry Thompson who followed the girls behind had a grim look on his face. Shock seemed to have passed through his eyes for a fraction of second. It was like he could guess the culprit.
