Just an uncle

Every single human has his or her own priorities.

Henry was no exception. His main priority right then was to keep the girls safe and to protect them from any harm.

As soon as he saw the police come, he gave them some details and immediately left the place with the girls.

Regina was so shocked, she was still trembling even after she got into the car. Rosie held Regina in her arms trying to comfort her.

Rosie looked calm on the surface. But within her head, one question popped after other.

Who's that woman?

Why would anyone kill her?

Wasn't she with Francis last night?

Why would she end up here?

Does Francis know about her condition?

Rosie suddenly had a thought but shook her head.

'It can't be him, right?'

Rosie understood Francis wouldn't do anything to the woman when he was already seen flirting with her by several other customers. He couldn't be that dumb, right?

She could still picture that woman smiling in her head. She looked so lovely in her cute pink outfit when she was in the restaurant.

She still had the same dress. But now, she was just a mess.

Henry was driving the car at a top speed, as if someone was chasing him. The girls didn't find anything wrong with his behaviour. They were scared to death. They only wanted to get back home as soon as possible.

Henry dropped Rosie at her apartment before he brought Regina back home.

...

Rosie was afraid to stay alone. She wanted to call Regina and ask to accompany her but when she recalled how scared Regina looked earlier, she didn't get the heart to disturb her.

Regina must be as scared as her.

Rosie had to muster all her courage to stay calm till the evening. She walked as fast as she could for her part time job. She basically ran, reaching the restaurant in five minutes which usually took her twenty minutes to walk.

As soon as she got into the restaurant, she made herself busy with work so that she wouldn't get a chance to distract her mind and think of that woman's death.

When the tables started to fill up, she realised there's still no sign of Francis.

And the thought of Francis brought her the memory from the morning which instantly disturbed her.

She wanted to let Francis know about the woman's situation. She thought it was only the right thing to do. Only then could she let go some of the burden on her.

She immediately asked the restaurant owner who was at the bill counter "Mr. Tim, where's Francis?"

Timothy looked very frustrated as he thought of the call he received in the morning. Francis basically said he was quitting the job and wouldn't even come back to get his payment.

Timothy was really a kind person. He would never take advantage of anyone.

He couldn't see Francis let go of the money he deserved. He tried to reason with him but the attitude he received was very rude. He was so upset. He could only leave the matter for the time being.

'What's the point in working if he didn't want his payment?' Timothy never understood youngsters of this generation.

"He quit" Timothy replied to Rosie with a simple shrug, also explaining how Francis said he wouldn't even come back for his payment.

Rosie was even more confused. Why would he quit the job suddenly? Also in the same time frame? Why would he not come to get his payment? Unless he was trying to hide something or himself?

Rosie wanted to call the police but thought about it for a while. She dropped her idea when she realised she couldn't act just based on her assumptions or she might really bring trouble to innocent people.

Though Francis's absence bothered her for a while, she enjoyed her work the next few days.

Her two months contract with Mr.Tim ended peacefully. She got her paycheck along with a big fat bonus.

Early in the morning, Rosie skipped towards Regina's house in excitement. She couldn't wait to trick Regina into buying her a meal as a reward for successfully completing her part time work.

Her dumb friend would fall for her tricks, every single time.

Rosie couldn't stop laughing as she rang the doorbell.

It was a man in his late twenties who greeted her at the door. He wore a sweat shirt and track pants with a towel around his neck. Sweat dripped from his forehead, flowing down his cheeks before the drops fell from his sharp chiseled jaw.

He was a tall man with muscular body. With his good looks and nicely built body, he could rule the entertainment industry.

Had it been any other girls, they would run after him like butterflies.

But to her and Regina, he was just their uncle. An uncle who was young and handsome.

"Hello, Uncle Henry" Rosie greeted him with a smile and walked inside unhurriedly with Henry following behind her while wiping his sweat.

Seeing Henry, she remembered that she didn't get any further information about that woman. She decided to ask herself.

"Uncle, what happened to that woman?" She asked hoping it wasn't like what she thought.

"The police concluded it was an animal attack. The woman died because of heavy blood loss" Henry said in a voice that's hard to comprehend.

Even Henry didn't know if he was convincing himself to believe the police investigation results or saying it to make the girls believe it.

He just couldn't lay out the fact that it might not be just a simple animal attack.

Henry knew the best he could do now was to keep watching from far than to jump in unprepared.

He had to protect the girls and had no intention in taking any risks.

Rosie didn't doubt anything. She knew very well that the town had a large forest area surrounding it and there were many wild creatures roaming in the forest.

She felt bad for happened to the woman but this didn't clear her doubts on why the woman went into the forest in the first place when she could just keep flirting around.

Rosie knew it wasn't her place to get involved in other people's lives when she was uncertain about her own life. But she was curious about everything since childhood. She couldn't sleep well unless she knew the reason.

She decided to investigate about it later and ran towards Regina's room, mentally listing all the foods she'd be eating the next few days with Regina paying all the bills.

Regina had a photograph in her hand while thinking about something. With her back facing the door, she didn't see Rosie coming inside.

Rosie walked on her tip toes. She wanted to scare Regina. So, she shouted near Regina's ears and soon laughed while clapping her hands when she saw Regina jump on the bed.

Only a few seconds did Rosie notice the tears under Regina's eyes and the photograph fallen to the ground.

Rosie picked up the photograph with no intentions of peeking or whatsoever but Regina soon snatched it away from Rosie's hand.

However, Rosie still had a chance to take a glimpse of the photograph and was utterly speechless.

The person in the photograph looked so similar to the person she knew, they could possibly be mistaken as twins.

But how was that even possible?
