Chapter 5:I Became Abigail and Started Making Trouble in the multiverse

"Takagi, let me help you."

Behind the group, Hirano Toda rushed to aid Saya Takagi, who had collapsed in fear.

Watching this scene, Abigail couldn't help but think, This chubby guy has potential. But, as the saying goes, unrequited love often ends in disappointment.

As the group kept running, the massive creature, mass of flesh, noticed them.

Boom...

The ground shook with each of mass of flesh's steps, sending a wave of dread through everyone's hearts.

It was coming.

Boom... boom... boom...

Each step of mass of flesh was like a sledgehammer pounding on their chests, making it hard for anyone to breathe.

To get to the school bus, they had to cross the sports field—easily the most dangerous stretch of the journey.

Although mass of flesh seemed slow, its enormous size meant each step covered a vast distance, so in terms of speed, it wasn't actually slow at all.

"What the hell is that? It's impossible for any living thing to get that big! This defies logic!" Saya Takagi, who was struggling to maintain her composure, screamed out in panic. Unlike the other girls in the group, she lacked any combat ability, and her mental fortitude was crumbling fast.

"Takagi, calm down!" Hirano shouted.

"Shut up, you fat otaku! You have no right to tell me what to do!"

After a brief moment of silence, Hirano turned to her with a bright smile. "Uh... I have no idea why either?"

Saya blushed for some unknown reason as she looked at him.

"I envy how well you two get along, but we need to hurry—the monster is catching up!" Someone interrupted them, bringing attention to the looming threat.

Sure enough, mass of flesh had caught up with the person trailing behind. In one swift motion, it grabbed the unlucky individual.

"Help! No, please!"

"Takashi!" A girl screamed in horror.

"Naomi, forget about me! Run!" Even as he was being lifted into the monster's jaws, the boy named Takashi urged his girlfriend to escape. Abigail admired the boy's courage for a moment, but in the end, he was doomed.

Crunch...

It was as if you could hear the sound of bones breaking as mass of flesh bit the boy clean in half.

"Takashi!" The girl, Naomi, rushed toward him.

"What are you doing? He's already gone!" Saya Takagi yelled from the back.

But Naomi didn't listen and kept running toward him. The inevitable outcome didn't need further explanation.

Watching this girl die alongside her lover, Abigail felt... touched.

For about a second.

mass of flesh was still in pursuit, and the group continued to flee.

Finally, they reached the school bus.

"Teacher, give me the keys!" Komuro Takashi shouted as they arrived.

Hearing his voice, Shizuka Marikawa rushed over to open the bus door, letting everyone pile in one by one.

Honestly, Abigail could have commanded mass of flesh to destroy the bus right then and there, allowing her to enjoy the spectacle of despair. But she couldn't do that. The mission given by the Main God had to be completed.

How annoying... One day, I'll bend that Main God to my will.

"Quick! Teacher, drive! That monster is closing in!"

"Hold on! This bus isn't the same as my car!" Shizuka replied, fumbling with the controls.

"Move over, I'll do it!" Qi Zhou suddenly appeared at the driver's seat.

"Do you even know how to drive?"

"Obviously! Hurry, the monster's almost here!"

"Oh..."

After some prompting, the slightly airheaded Shizuka moved aside. Qi Zhou started the engine smoothly.

"Everyone, hold on! It's going to get bumpy!" he warned as he floored the accelerator.

Just then, a voice cried out for help.

"Help us!"

A group of people was rushing toward the bus from a distance.

"Hey kid, close the door! We're leaving," Qi Zhou called back.

"Wait, there are still people out there!"

"Kid, we can barely save ourselves! I'm driving out of here!"

"Hold on, look! The monster is turning around. We have a chance to save them!" Komuro pointed out.

"Alright, but I'm not waiting long. If it gets dangerous, I'm leaving," Qi Zhou said grudgingly.

From her seat, Abigail observed the group running toward them. Leading them was Koichi Shido. Abigail had no particular fondness for this clown of a man. Still, even clowns have their uses—at least they can provide entertainment. So, she had mass of flesh redirect its attention.

Now, it was time for Shido's show.

Inside the bus, Rei Miyamoto's emotions surged when she spotted Shido approaching.

"Don't save him! Let that scumbag die!" she shouted.

"Rei, what's gotten into you? What are you talking about?"

"Don't save him!"

Ding Muyu, another member of the group, noticed Rei's outburst but failed to stand up. She was too drained after the constant fear had pushed her to the limit.

Meanwhile, Shido and his group had almost reached the bus, with mass of flesh hot on their heels. Several people had already been caught and devoured.

"Damn, this won't work! I must survive! If that means sacrificing a few people, so be it." Shido muttered to himself. He realized that whenever the monster ate someone, it stopped briefly—enough time for him to get ahead.

Suddenly, Shido shoved a bespectacled boy in his group, sending him sprawling to the ground. The boy, who had been clutching two books even while running, fell hard. He tried to call for help, but no one came to his aid. In the end, he became a shield for the others.

Abigail, who had witnessed the entire scene, smirked. She was the only one who had noticed Shido's sneaky move.

Soon after, Shido climbed aboard the bus.

"Drive!" he shouted.

With a roar, the bus sped forward, plowing through zombies and crashing through the school gates, leaving the terror behind.

As they drove away, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. The oppressive presence of mass of flesh had been overwhelming—so much so that it made some question their sanity, especially one of the other Reincarnators sitting at the back of the bus.

"Why is this happening? There wasn't supposed to be a monster like that... It doesn't make sense. Everything was following the original plot. Why did that thing appear?!" Jing Tianhua muttered, clearly on the verge of a breakdown. His reaction hadn't escaped Ding Muyu's notice either. The situation had rattled her too. For her, the Main God missions were supposed to stick closely to the plot. But now, an unforeseen monster had appeared. Even though they had escaped, who knew if another one might show up later?

"Are you the leader, Miss Saeko Busujima?" Shido asked as he approached her.

"We don't have a leader. We're just working together to survive," she replied curtly.

"That won't do! To survive, a leader is essential!" Shido insisted.

Hearing this, Abigail knew that Shido was about to stir up trouble. She was curious about what would happen next, now that there were Reincarnators involved. The outcome this time would surely be interesting.

So, Abigail made a decision...

Shido Koichi—just as Abigail had labeled him—was a clown.

But clowns like him often brought disaster upon any group they joined. With their ambition and intelligence, but lacking a moral compass, people like Shido were utterly selfish. They would never sacrifice their own interests for others but wouldn't hesitate to throw someone else under the bus.

If that were all, they might rise to power as ruthless leaders. But what made them clowns was their inability to see the bigger picture, their lack of restraint, and their shallow disguises. To the uninformed, they might appear dignified or righteous—but they had no soul.

Shido was playing the role of a concerned teacher, but his behavior made Abigail want to vomit.

"Saeko, to survive, you need a leader," Shido repeated.

Saeko Busujima ignored him, as did everyone else. He was like a clown talking to himself.

Abigail suddenly regretted letting him board the bus. He was disgusting, and without a proper foil to his antics, it was dull. So, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

"Big brother, are you a bad person?" A pure, innocent voice rang out inside the bus.

Hearing this, Shido turned to see Abigail standing behind him. For a brief moment, a flash of malice crossed his face before he smiled warmly.

"Little girl, what are you talking about? How could I be a bad person? I'm just a kind, responsible teacher."

"But I saw you trip that guy with the glasses," Abigail said innocently.

Everyone turned to look at Shido. His face briefly darkened, and Abigail clearly saw the hatred in his eyes.

"Little girl, you must be mistaken. I'd never do such a thing," Shido said, quickly regaining his composure.

"But I really saw it. Not far from the car, I saw you approach the brother with glasses and kick him down."

As Abigail detailed what she had witnessed, the gazes of those in the car turned sharp as they looked at shido.

"Teacher shido, is what this little sister saying true? Did you really cause Wagakimi to fall?" a student from the back of the car asked.

"No, I didn't do it. I'm deeply saddened by Mitsui's sacrifice," shido said, feigning grief. Some of the students with him seemed to be affected by his act.

"Teacher shido, I don't think Abigail would lie. I think you should explain yourself properly," Saeko Busujima interjected, unwilling to let the matter drop. Her words made shido frown.

"Miss Busujima, do you really believe what a child says? How much of what children say is actually true?"
