Chapter 7: Started Making Trouble in the multiverse
"Brother, I know what you're thinking, but it's the end of the world now. Plus, this guy tried to harm me. If I don't get rid of him, I won't feel at ease."
"But... even so, you can't just kill someone!"
"Takashi, stay out of this. After what he did, he doesn't deserve any sympathy."
At this point, Rei Miyamoto got off the bus and walked over to Komuro Takashi, gently pulling him aside to persuade him.
Rei had always disliked Koichi Shido, and now, she wasn't going to let him slip away again.
"Rei..."
"Takashi, trust me. Let it go. He's not worth saving. If we keep him, he'll end up getting us all killed."
Finally, after Rei's persuasion, Takashi Komuro reluctantly turned his head, no longer looking at Shido.
"Help me, Komuro! Please, I don't want to die! Miyamoto, I'm sorry for everything before! My father made me do it! Please forgive me! Save me!"
"Hahaha, look at you, such a coward. At least try to act brave for once, even at the end."
Qi Zhou, seeing that Takashi had stopped trying to stop him, laughed and dragged Koichi Shido towards the direction of the zombies.
When they got close, but still at a safe distance, Qi Zhou tossed Shido to the ground.
"Don't say I didn't give you a chance. Your fate is in your own hands now."
After saying this, Qi Zhou turned back and returned to the bus.
By now, Takashi and Rei had also returned to the bus. Takashi seemed downcast, clearly bothered by the fact that he hadn't stopped Qi Zhou from doing what he did.
"Zhou, let's go," said Saeko Busujima as she saw him return.
"Why? I haven't even seen that bastard get what's coming to him."
Outside, Koichi Shido was frantically trying to avoid the zombies, still managing to dodge their bites. Watching him scramble was downright ridiculous.
"He's received his punishment. Let's at least leave him with a shred of dignity."
"Dignity? That coward? Forget it. I'm tired of seeing his face anyway. Let's move on."
Qi Zhou climbed back into the driver's seat, and the bus started moving again.
"No! Don't leave me! Please! Somebody help!" Shido screamed as the bus drove off, sinking into despair.
Then, in front of him, a floating eyeball appeared in the air.
The moment it showed up, the surrounding zombies exploded into pieces. Only Shido remained, standing there, his face twisted in utter terror.
"Do you hate the world? Do you want revenge? Do you want to become the most powerful being? Then, join me… become one with me…"
...
On the moving bus, Abigail yawned out of boredom. Now that Shido was out of the picture, things had gotten dull again.
So boring… I really wish there was a cute loli for me to cuddle. Oh right, there's still a loli in the main group we have to save. But I caused such a mess earlier, and now that Shido's gone, there doesn't seem to be any reason for the group to head to where we originally planned to go.
Hmm, what should I do? I absolutely have to save her. If I can't figure it out, maybe I'll just block the road and force them to go. But I don't even know where Dr. Shizuka's friend's house is...
Ugh, this is so annoying. Stirring up trouble is so much more fun. I'll just leave the planning to someone else.
"Abby, what's wrong? Are you still scared by what happened earlier?"
Sitting next to her, Ding Muyu noticed Abigail's restless (though really, irritated) demeanor and asked.
"Sis, I'm strong! I won't get scared like other kids. I'm not like them!"
"Yes, yes, Abby is the bravest. No other kid can compare to you. Wait... kid?"
Seeing Ding Muyu suddenly deep in thought, Abigail smiled slightly. She had more arguments ready, but this time, things were progressing faster than she expected. As expected, people who think for a living react quickly. If it were that guy snoozing in the back, this would've taken forever.
Abigail glanced towards the back of the bus, where Jing Tianhua was already fast asleep, looking like a completely different person from the panicked mess he'd been earlier.
Meanwhile, Ding Muyu, spurred on by Abigail's remark, remembered that there was still one more character in the main group who hadn't appeared yet—a little girl. The most important part was that without their intervention, the girl was bound to die. If that happened, her mission would fail, and failure meant erasure!
Ding Muyu definitely didn't want to die for something like that, so she had to figure out a way to guide the group in the right direction. But how could she do it without raising suspicion?
Thus, Abigail's problem was now passed on to Ding Muyu.
Under the cover of night, as most people on the bus fell into a deep sleep, Abigail snuggled up to Ding Muyu, resting her head on her soft chest, clearly enjoying herself.
Though slightly uncomfortable with Abigail's sleeping position, Ding Muyu was briefly mesmerized by her sleeping face.
After thinking for a while longer, Ding Muyu came up with a plan. All she had to do now was wait until morning.
Eventually, exhausted from the day's events, Ding Muyu also closed her eyes.
...
The next morning, when Abigail woke up, the bus had come to a stop, blocked by an obstacle on the road. Feeling the softness against her head, Abigail couldn't help but nuzzle into it.
"Abby, stop squirming. If you're awake, sit up properly."
Hearing the faint sound of panting beside her, Abigail glanced at Ding Muyu, whose face was slightly flushed. Feigning sleepiness, she nuzzled her again.
The softness against her head… Ah, life is good.
However, after savoring the moment, Abigail sat up, stretched, and yawned. Another day had begun.
She wondered if Ding Muyu had figured out how to steer the main group yet. If she didn't make a move soon, Abigail was going to bring out her toys.
In Abigail's mind, things were simple. She didn't see the point in overthinking it. She could just summon a huge monster to cause havoc, forcing the main group to flee. If the creature destroyed things on one side, they'd have no choice but to head in the other direction, which would conveniently lead them to their destination.
But as it turned out, Ding Muyu already had a plan.
Ding Muyu stood up and walked to the front of the bus.
"Everyone, does anyone have thoughts about what we should do next?"
Ding Muyu's voice cut through the quiet bus, drawing everyone's attention.
"Ding, why are you asking this all of a sudden?" Saeko Busujima inquired, clearly puzzled.
"I'm just feeling a little lost about our future path. It's the apocalypse now, and everything is different from before. I don't want us to just stumble aimlessly through this nightmare," Ding Muyu explained.
"But aren't we headed to check on our families?" Shizuka Marikawa, the ever-naive teacher, chimed in.
"Shizuka-sensei, I think Ding is referring to what comes after that. It's true; we need to consider our long-term plans." Saeko nodded thoughtfully.
"We can find a safe place to live, right? A place where we can settle down," Rei Miyamoto suggested, optimism in her voice.
"Be realistic," Saya Takagi interrupted, her voice sharp. "Look around. Where do you think will be safe in this world?"
"There has to be somewhere. Like an island or something," Rei countered.
"And you think they'll let us take control of such a place? It's probably already locked down by the military or other factions," Saya shot back, her words casting a somber mood over the group.
"Well, can't we just join them?"
"And what reason would they have to take us in? We're just a burden. We consume resources, and they wouldn't even know if any of us were infected. Do you think they'd take that risk?"
Saya's blunt reasoning left everyone quiet.
"They wouldn't... do that, would they?" Rei murmured, her voice uncertain.
"Rei, don't be naive. This is the apocalypse," Saya replied, her words cutting through any lingering hope.
"Alright, let's focus on what we should do moving forward," Takashi Komuro spoke up, unable to watch the argument continue. "Ding, since you brought this up, do you have any ideas?"
"Weapons," Ding Muyu said firmly. "Right now, we lack powerful enough weapons. If we can get some, we can find a safe place and set up a secure zone for ourselves."
Ding Muyu's suggestion was clear. She needed to steer the group toward acquiring weapons, which would eventually lead Shizuka to mention her friend, Rika Minami, and her stockpile.
"Ding, you're right. We do have some weapons, but most of them are for close combat. We'll need to find guns if we want to survive long term. Maybe we should try checking out a police station?" Takashi suggested.
"I bet the police stations have already been looted," Saya responded. "We need to consider other places. Somewhere no one else would know about."
As she said this, Ding Muyu subtly glanced at Shizuka Marikawa, trying to prompt her.
Finally, Shizuka seemed to catch on. "Oh! Actually, I have a friend who's a police officer, and she's really into guns. I've seen her collection at her house before. She even has a huge vehicle! It's like a tank—this big!" Shizuka excitedly spread her arms to demonstrate the size.
"Are you serious, Shizuka-sensei?" Hirano Kohta, the gun enthusiast, nearly jumped out of his seat in excitement.
"Mhm! And her house is near Obebashi Bridge!" Shizuka confirmed.
"Hey, my family's place should have some guns too," Saya added.
"But Saya, even if your house does have guns, we're just kids. We wouldn't be able to get them, would we?" Takashi pointed out.
"That's... true," Saya admitted, her argument fizzling out.
Saeko Busujima looked out the window at the road ahead. "Given the current situation, we don't know how long we'll be stuck here. Maybe we should check out Obebashi Bridge. If what Shizuka-sensei said is true, that would be a much better option than waiting around."
"I agree. Just sitting here is pointless," Takashi added.
"And I'll follow you, Takashi," Rei said.
"Let's ask the others what they think," Takashi suggested, standing up to ask around the bus.
As Takashi moved from person to person, Abigail let out a yawn. How boring, she thought. Honestly, she was the last person who enjoyed getting things done through persuasion. It was such a hassle. With all this time, she could've already introduced a little terror to these people. That would've gotten them moving quicker.
Staring blankly out the window at the occasional passerby, Abigail mused about what her life would've been like if she had been just an ordinary person. Then she quickly dismissed the thought. The fears that consumed normal people, like zombies, were nothing more than playthings to her now.
Self-pity over such thoughts was pointless. Why worry about things that didn't apply to her? If she had time for those concerns, she'd rather be figuring out how to make things more... interesting.
Abigail knew her own mental shifts well, but she didn't care. Some might say, "If you change, are you still yourself?" To those people, she'd offer a tentacle massage—just to shut them up with their useless philosophical nonsense. If people didn't change, what kind of life would that be?
Just as Abigail felt she had reached the limits of her boredom and was about to stir up some chaos, the discussions on the bus finally concluded.
As expected, the main group—along with the reincarnators—decided to move out, while the rest of the passengers chose to stay on the bus, believing it was safer there.
In the end, the group split in two.

"That's a Hummer! And a military-grade one at that!" Hirano Kohta exclaimed excitedly as they arrived at the parking lot outside Rika Minami's apartment.
"See? I told you it was like a tank!" Shizuka beamed, proud of her earlier description.
Meanwhile, Abigail hopped off Jing Tianhua's back. He had been positively thrilled when Abigail had asked him to carry her, though he was little more than a pack mule or a ride to her. Still, he seemed to revel in the task.
With curiosity gleaming in her eyes, Abigail circled the massive vehicle a few times. She genuinely liked this kind of machine. In her mind, this was the kind of beast a real man should be driving.
Of course, she didn't get a chance to control it, which left her slightly miffed.
